Very bad performance in windows 8

Hello

I just moved from windows 7 to windows 8 and in extremely poor performance.
Windows 7 my system is very fast and responsive. I7 2600 k, 8 GB Ram and 2 x GTX480 in SLI so much grunt but runs windows 8 so slow that my computer is useless limit.
Hangs regularly just for no reason and it is very annoying, especially after spending $50 for Win7. It is also a clean installation of full format for win8 should work at its best.
Any help would be appreciated. If this is the way, does anyone know if I can get my money back.
Thank you

Hi KmxRz,

What is the brand and model of your PC?

Thank you!

Mine is a customized version, but it seems that my problem is solved.
My pc just prompted me to update with keyboard and microsoft mouse drivers (I thought they would be generic as part of windows I use microsoft keyboard and mouse) and the problem seems to have disappeared.
Looks like the keyboard and mouse drivers were win8 go nuts I think that maybe it's true, it seems that every time I hit the tab key to move between fields.
I hope that this is the solution.
Thank you

  • Very bad performance on a virtual machine

    Hi all

I've got 2 x 5.1.0 ESXi hosts (733933) in my environment connected to a starwind iSCSI data store that has SSD in a RAID array. It's very fast because we never had performance issues.

The data in question store contains several virtual machines. Virtual machines are as quick as you wait, except for one. It is very slow, and I can't nail why (IOMeter test below).

I tried these techniques to understand:

    1. Run IOmeter several moments of the day to ensure that it is not a process on the VM problem asking the questions
    2. Length of queue disk supervised the VM problem to ensure that it is not too busy
    3. Provided all the parameters of virtual equipment of the VM (type of controller disk, CPU, RAM) problem
    4. Installed a new VM on this data store to eliminate the data store as a cause of the performance issue
    5. Checked the allocation of shares of the VM problem to make sure it is not pushed to the side under heavy load

I don't see anything that can cause this problem, someone at - it ideas?

    The performance test:

    http://i.snag.gy/YAcSU.jpg

Just a thought that we had something like that a long time ago... I was sure it was the storage that it ended up being the memory and CPU on the virtual machine limit.  You would see really bad performance on the wise vm storage, but the real problem was the vm limit causing storage I/O queue time.   I would look in the settings of the virtual machine and look at reservation / limit.   Do not forget that even a reservation does not override the limit.

If you do not have a limit attempt to set a reserve for all CPU / memory and then test again.   If it fails again there is something really wrong with the I/O stack on your Windows OS virtual machine.  (You should also try to vmotion it in another data store)

If you know how to use ESXTOP you can quickly find information on your problem using the m, c and v keys.

I would like to know what you find.

  • Very slow performance with Windows 7 on i7 Quad

I bought my wife a Lenovo E530 i7 quad with screen 1600 x 900 and running Win 7 in September 2012. Previously, she had an Asus Core 2 Duo also with Win 7. The laptop is used to picture (scanning, editing, cataloging) work, family, the navigation and email history.

The E530 was desperately slow at the beginning. Not better, not faster than the Asus. Performance seems to vary from slow to excruciatingly slow.

    Features include:

    -very slow to open programs

-slow to react to the choice of menus and clicks

-slow to react to the touchpad

-scrolling is not smooth, vibrates, much worse than Asus

-often distorts the sound and video, audio stutters

-IE9 make often video has properly - green band across the bottom with the rest of the colors shifted upward - change the video quality will fix it sometimes

-very slow internet response compared to the other machines on the same network of navigation.

However, startup speed seems to be OK.

I spent weeks (months?) through the forums, verification of updates, deletion and restoration of various programs and drivers looking for driver clashes. I tried the clean boot with only Windows drivers and various other combinations, and it made no difference.

For a long time wifi would be max 54 Mbps but somewhere through the process he begins to operate at up to 300Mbps.

Nothing seems to stand out in reports on health of the system and the event viewer. Windows experience scores seem to be everything I expected from my older i7.

Resources and performance monitor reports a problem with the hard drive:

The average disk queue length = Max 16 = 106

    %Idle = 0

    Disk read/s Ave = 0.093 Max = 3

    Disk sec/Transfer Ave = 0,067 Max = 1

    Disk s/write = 0.022 Ave

Even when the computer runs slower the CPU usage, and memory usage is not mounted and ceiling ever.

SFC report any breach of integrity.

FixIt MS - slow performance does not detect any problems.

The disk check is not a problem any.

It's so frustrating that my wife threatens to throw it in the trash and buy a Mac (the horrors :-)).

Any ideas on what I might have missed or what I should look at?

    Thank you

Wish I had a 128 GB SSD. I suppose you see a serious helping hand to the performance of the system.

  • Satellite P500 a bad performance in windows 7

I have a satellite P500, model No. PSPE8C-026006 for 3 years. Core 2 Quad Q9000 @ 2.00 GHz, 2.00 Ghz, 6 GB Ram, 1 TB HD.64 bit windows 7 OS. Even if it is 3 years old, it is still decent Spec

This laptop is preforming really kicking up. It took 10 minutes to boot and load all startup programs. I understand that there are many programs of preloading of Toshiba. I have disabled many of them, the situation does not improve. Later, I reformatted the laptop and reinstall windows 7, didn't install any program from Toshiba, situation still not improving that much.

Once launched. It is quite slow to open applications. It preforms as memory is not sufficient, as the latest version of Windows running on a really old computer. Sometimes it randomly freezes for a few seconds while watching videos or playing games.

many times, windows 7 freezes while I download. I Force shutdown, then restart the computer. Check with Microsoft, stil could not determine if it is a hardware or software problem.

We have another laptop with a lot less specs (Core 2 duo @1.5 Ghz, 3 GB ram). fact the exact comparison even scenario. running much faster and smoonth than the P500. two laptops have the exact version of windows 7 home on. things simply not adding up

I tried to reformat the HD, reinstall windows 7, upgrading the BIOS, remove any program on star system upward. Nothing really effective. Help, please

    Hello

I have the same machine and use it daily. To be honest, I agree with you: it's not the fastest machine but solid multimedia notebook. A few months ago I ve decided to tune up.
The first step has been upgraded RAM so I ve upgraded to max level. It was a little better, but I was not so happy. Friend of mine told me I should upgrade/Exchange SSD HARD drive so I ordered one.

After Exchange SSD, I was really surprised how fast Mobile runs. It load Windows in just 35 seconds and open all applications in a few seconds. Everything runs very fast so if you want to have great P500 RAM upgrade and use SSDS. Believe me you will be happy with your machine.

To be honest, I really like P500 and it is for me very nice machine of Toshiba. I wouldn't go for a newer model.

  • Very bad performance for Qosmio X 70-B-10 t battery

I recently bought a laptop 10 X 70 - b - t. The battery is terrible, I'm just using the computer laptop just surfing the web and using microsoft word etc not play games or watch movies and I get a little less than 2 hours. I then opened and took a quick glance at the battery, it's a PA5109-1BRS but when I saw the MAH is 4200MAH where as the PA5109-1BRS battery are normally 4400MAH according to the toshiba site and "Topaz". This could be the battery problem? laptops not even 20 days.

It's just for a Qosmio. 200mAh will make very little difference, a few minutes on it. 2 h is actually pretty good, my X 870 scrapes barely 90 minutes.

  • Very slow performance on EVA4400

    Hello guys,.

    I need help about:

    So I have a configuration consisting of a few servers HP ProLiant DL380 G5 (2 x Quad-Core Xeon X 5470 + 24 GB of RAM) with dual-port HP FC2242SR 4 GB/s HBA (enforcement of a vSphere 4.1) connected to a HP EVA4400 consisting of 24 300 GB 15K FC disks.

The servers each have 2 network cards connected to a Cisco 2960 G switch and connected to a dvSwitch in vSphere.

The disks are grouped into a single DiskGroup on the EVA, and I a Vdisk 1040 of GB (LUNS) created with RAID level 5.

Well, now I have a virtual machine with Windows Server 2008 R2, acting as a file server. Is the virtual material consists of 4 GB of ram and 4 cores of the processor and the LUN I mentioned above is mounted as a data store VMFS to the host and divided up like a vmdk of 40 GB for the OS (with LSI SAS controller) and an another vmdk of ~ 1 TB on a controller separated from Paravirtual... .intended for real storage of files. The two drives are configured as Thin Provisioning

And also it has a single VMXNET3 NIC.

The problem is that the file server is running very bad, it is about 10-12 Mbps for writing and 20 to 30 Mbps per bed.

I tested it by transferring ~ 2, 3 ~ and ~ 4 GB .iso files to and from the server.

I have tried to my workstation, other virtual machines & physical servers... the performance is the same.

I also vMotioned the file to another server hosts... still the same thing.

I thought that maybe it is something wrong with the virtual machine itself... so since I was an another windows 2008 R2 VM residing on a smaller (150 GB) LUN I did the same test by copying .iso to that... and the performance was the same. And I also did a Linux VM... his thing.

Any ideea what the problem is there... because it just seems very bad performance... it's as much slower even than a normal PC

Basically there is virtually no traffic on the fibre channel network most of the time... it's not congestion or anything like that.

The EVA and the FC switches are running the latest firmware.

    Help, please.

    Thank you

fight the block cache on EVA are fully charged? or is there any failuer disk raid reconstruction is done in the background.

My internet does not work correctly. I use an ethernet cable to connect my laptop (using windows 7) to the internet. However the connection is very bad. Sometimes it works but only for 30 minutes max, and other times it does not at all, connect saying that the cable is disconnected. I tried 3 different cables to 2 different ports, then maybe the problem comes from my laptop. It connects to the wifi networks fine but not with the cable. Does anyone have any suggestions as to what could be the problem and how can I solve this problem?

My sony vaio SVE14123CNB with camera of 64-bit windows 8 is to give a very bad image quality.

I have compained several times to sony, but they said that there is problem with windows 8 and this laptop model.

I think that this response is not the solution to the problem, as it is my work that still hinder once. This laptop has with exmor HD webcam, so we expect the quality of the picture from the webcam to be strong, but it is dark, blurry, vary hard to identify someone even. It is even lower than some old VGA cam.

    Please provide a rigid solution.

    Hello krishna_18,

The most common cause of this problem is a poorly lit room.  Please try to use the camera in well-lit areas.  Since there is no light or flash on the camera device, it is not able to work as well in dark situations.

As to the answer before someone gave you "problem with Windows 8";  What they probably meant is that this laptop does not come with any software the camera included.  Therefore, the "Camera" app Windows 8 is what is natively provided and used.  This application is very limited in options and resolution.  Using an alternative app camera of your choice can also improve options, parameters, and results.

  • Satellite T110-11U: WLan connection dropped and very slow performance

    Hi people,

I use a Satellite T110-11U running windows 7 Home premium.

After having initially was very satisfied with its use, it now becomes more and more frustrating to use with wifi, with connections dropped and very slow performance.

I have updated the BIOS and think I have updated all drivers wirelss, but could be the problem. It seems that wireless, software of management is at fault because the networks are detected, but not clinging.

Any suggestion or tips to try will help save my sanity!

    Thanks for your help.

    > have updated the BIOS and think I have updated all drivers wirelss, but could be the problem.
If you need to make sure that you use the latest WLan driver.
The driver can be downloaded here:
    http://APS2.toshiba-tro.de/WLAN/

The laptop uses the Realtek RTL8191SE of WLan card.
Please also reset the settings of the Wlan router. I had a lot of problems with my WLan and after the reset of the router, performance problems disappeared.

Contrary to what said 'DaGreenOne' on 'thread lock', I can assure you that we will not do.
We strive to help you with this problem.  However, I kind of sharing what he or she said several suggestions have been posted but nothing is your problem.  There was some good suggestions posted here.

It's frustrating, I know.  Question: If you put the 'original' of return RAM in the system and restore the system back to how it was when you bought, 1st you get the experience index you originally?  This is assuming that you are ready to perform a system recovery which erases the hard drive clean and make it the way it was when manufacturing built the machine.

Please confirm you "not" mix the different types of RAM in the computer, which means that you put in two sticks of 6400 and two sticks of 5300 (these numbers used for example)
