Very slow initial Windows Update

Hello

I just did a fresh install of Windows 7 Ultimate 32 - bit with Service Pack 1.  The initial check of updates has managed to update updates Microsoft, but the initial check for updates of the race since (oh I dunno) 15 or 20 minutes...

Is this just normal planned waiting for initial windows update time?

Something has hurt very very badly with Windows Update.

I agree.   I did a new install of Win7 SP1 yesterday and left Win Update running from one day to the next day - it was always check the updates when I got up this morning.   I thought some of the customizations I made before you start the update might have messed up things so I decided to reinstall this morning.

First I tried the installation option by using the option to use the latest version on the web - I canceled that after that he spent an hour "collection of information" is then returned to the installation from the CD.   Once I had a fresh install of Win7, I immediately started the update.   It was now 'check updates' for about 3 hours.

One thing I noticed, is that the history of the update shows that the update agent (7.6.7600.320) was installed during the installation.  It seems to me that the Windows team needs to get some people working on back out this version of the update agent so that Windows can actually exists to update himself.

My computer was working fine. Could he download without any problem. Windows has a few important updates, so I installed them. All updates were for MS Office, except IE8. Since then, I can't download anything with Filezilla. It timesout. I can get the files downloaded through CoreLite, but it runs at a rate of 3 kb/s (compared with 80 + kb/s) before. Download on 4shared is too 3 kb/s. download speed was cut in half or even slower!

I reversed the update iE8, but that did not help. Ive been Googling for a month now, trying to find a solution, but nothing seems to work. Does anyone else have this problem? If so, how to solve it? Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Here's my info and what I've tried so far:
    Windows Vista
Excluded for the Windows Firewall programs include FileZilla and Core.
Tried system restore, but a date before the update was not showing.

  • Dreamweaver CS5 very slow after Windows update 10

I have recently upgraded ("retired") on the windows 10 and met with a multitude of problems with the programs I had installed before the upgrade.

Unfortunately, after about a week of race successfully dreamweaver cs5 I ran into a major issue. There are currently about 45 seconds in my cursor and the text as he tried to use dreamweaver. I update all the current drivers for dreamweaver cs5, but this has not solved the problem. Some things to note:

I currently have 8 GB of RAM, and the system tells me that I'm using about 1/3 of it.

    I have a 4960 k 3.5 ghz i5 processor

Graphics card is an AMD Radeon HD series 7900 / 3 gb

I also have dreamweaver and the operating system installed on a SSD

Please let me know if you have any suggestions or if you have had similar problems. I understand the CS5 is an older version of Adobe, but it worked fine for about a week before another windows 10 run updates.

In order to not - where the issue seems to have been resolved. The only thing I changed was my fps graphics card to the max of what I had already done but it seems that it has not applied the first time around.

Not sure if this has actually resolved anything but dreamweaver seems to work a lot better now.

  • Some games run very slow on Windows 8, as...

Some games run very slow on Windows 8 as (chicken Invasion "v1, v2, v3" in red alert 2, Age of Empire 2)
but on Windows 7 on the same Machine perform perfectly, I tried to install DirectX,.
and tried to install the latest Version of the Driver VGA for Windows8 and tried to change VGA (Nvidia, AMD, Intel)
but the games (not all games just a few) still running slow...? !!!
    Help, please...

    Wrong, wrong, wrong.

This is entirely based on compatibility to a level beyond what is offered in the standard "Windows compatibility" section.  In addition to this, everything you said had absolutely nothing to do with the question.  This has nothing to do with starting or whatever it is in the same direction.

What is happening is that something is interfering with the normal functioning of the game because of changes in the kernel of the operating system because it has been updated / rewritten since the inception of Windows XP.

    @SOVIETTION
The most likely solution for you has nothing to do with the videobuffer here is how fix you it:

Find the Red Alert installation directory and find the file * md.ini.
In revenge for Red Alert 2/Yuri, it will be 'RA2MD. INI"(feel free to make a backup of the file before proceeding)
Open it with your favorite text editor (Notepad for most people)
Scroll down until you find the section [Video]
Just below you will add this line-
    VideoBackBuffer = no
Save the file in the same place and load the game.

    Enjoy!

The VideoBackBuffer = none works perfectly, but in my case I also had to set the compatibility mode to Windows XP SP2.

    Bravo for you!

Usually, I found that this happens when installing .NET updates - if you give the machine 20 or so minutes to regroup and then restart, the problem disappears usually.

  • Windows Update program very slow to download updates

I have windows vista Home premium installed on my PC.  Whenever I try to install updates by using the Windows Update program, updates take a long time to download.  Today (Sunday December 19 09 09:30-11:30 - Australia, Melbourne time) I tried to download 6 updates of 7.3 MB in size, and it's always full to 98 per cent.  It is not my internet connection, I can view web pages from the USA and the Australia quickly enough that I download updates.  In my view, that the problem is a problem of Microsoft server.  It is almost impossible (in addition to a lot of wasted time) to keep windows up-to-date with this ridiculous of download speeds.  I regularly have to quit smoking, and then try again.  Whenever I try to update my Windows operating system I experience these low download speeds.  I don't feel these issues with other web pages / other applications (for example SUN's Java) which updates can be very large!

Can anyone help fix this problem.

my PC connects to the internet through a wireless USB...

Ah! Long story, short version: find a fixed connection (DSL or cable) connection or a reliable & strong WiFi connection (for example, at the House of a friend, your school or public library), and then run Windows Update manually.

99% (AKA critical) Important security updates are released on the second Tuesday of each month (for example, Jan 12-10; 09 Feb-10; & ff) about 12 times noon Seattle (USA) (which would be the second Wednesday of each month in Melbourne). Do yourself a favor and make a mental note to use such alternative access & update manually on the second Wednesday or Thursday of each month you will be sure to keep your computer fully patched.

Long version: the popularity of connections 'WiFi' rises, we find that the more reports in addition to this problem in these forums and discussion groups. I suspect that these connections 'wifi' are either not strong enough or coherent enough to be used for purposes of automatic update. Assuming that Microsoft Update is your source of default update, [1] it can take 45 minutes or more for you to update manually. Automatic updates can take days to download/install updates, according to the request of the server.

In another answer, I will post some tips Vista SP2 installation for you.

PS: Your "wireless internet" connection might be good enough if the signal is strong enough (for example, 4 to 5 bars on your mobile phone). Then again, YMMV.

  • Internet very slow on Windows 7, I tried a lot of bugs with no luck

I have Windows 7 Professional 64-bit. I used it without a problem for several months. But lately I had a very slow internet connection, no matter what program I use to. The same computer dual-boots with Windows XP: XP connects to Windows 7 to 0.3 Mbps and 8 Mbps.

Security software: Avast and Comodo (use every two months with no problems).

System Restore has been disabled by mistake, there is no restore points for trying.

I tried EVERYTHING to fix this! I tried:
-disabling auto tuning (this greatly improved navigation on the web, before pages would take ages to load, but the download speeds are still slow)
    -Disable IPv6
    -Disable Windows Firewall
-disable the Windows Defender real-time protection
    Re-setup of ethernet card
    -Re-installation of network card
-uninstall the Windows updates (those I was actually able to uninstall)
-boot by using the system configuration to start without starting programs or non-Microsoft services
    -reset the TCP/IP stack
    -safe mode with networking
    -disabled the DHCP broadcast flag
-change the heuristics of Windows scaling (since he says this overrided other parameters) and the provider settings control congestion

Is there anything else I can do?

  • Extremely slow/unnecessary Windows Update after system recovery.

    Hello

While trying to help a friend with her laptop, I encountered a small problem, which seems quite unique. After searching the ' net and the Knowledge Base, I'm about as clued in as when I started, that is to say not very.

    Machine: Satellite 1800 412 (Danish).

DID: Restore the system to zero back to XP SP1a (NSP).

Problem: After a complete system via the original recovery CD restore, Windows Update is running * extremely * slowly, or not at all, once it gets to the point where it scans for updates you need. So far, I've managed to get 1 downloaded an update, a little. As an update is attempted usage of the processor reaches a maximum at 100% and stay there until I abandon and hard restarts, since the machine is now almost useless and lazy point appear frozen.

Tried to: applied manually different updates downloaded directly from Microsoft, such as Internet Explorer 6 sp1, XP SP2 (DK), various updates and patches for XP downloaded and checked/tried to reinstall the drivers of Toshiba (they are updated). Verify that the systems boots properly with all recognized devices. Check the system clock. Searched the Toshiba KB, searched the Internet, searched the Toshiba support forum. Pulls hair in desperation. I have to have restored the system 4times intant to try different ways of patching the system with updates.

Special features: It is apparently * only * updated Windows, what causes this problem, and that after the first few, where he updates the Windows Update engine in Internet Explorer. Before that I'm trying to update the machine apparently functioning normally. I can surf, download, install and run programs and what not. (No, I did not visit suspicious websites.) If Windows Update runs automatically in the background / 'in the status bar', the same thing is happening: Machine suddenly becomes useless and stays that way.

The machine is on a local network behind one bulletproof OpenBSD firewall, no other Windows machines inside, so there is no chance of a quick infection of the network at the origin of the problem.

Unfortunately: Manually download and apply the patches aren't an option I want to activate the automatic updates before you return the machine back to its owner.

Hope some of you might have an answer to this one, because I have never known or heard of something similar before.

    Frank.

    Hello

There may be a possible for your problem. An attempt is an Installation from CD XP Win and New Installation of the tool of Toshiba s. check that the activity of process is that s OK, made a driver update and an update of the Bios on the side download Toshiba. http://EU.computers.Toshiba-Europe.com/cgi-bin/ToshibaCSG/download_drivers_bios.jsp

Proposed by Vista forum moderator as shown in the information system to the Vista computer file
Home Basic with SP2 installed upgrading.

    Mike

I apologize is not getting back to you earlier.

When you download and install games and other you don't normally need to keep what you have downloaded in the downloads folder. Some downloads are wide to remove could free up some disk space! You need to do on a regular basis to keep on top of the problem...

The content of your video in total 414 GB file. You might look at some of them again? If this is not the case, delete those that you no longer need.

You have a lot of icons on the desktop. Take a look at these and remove those that you never use.

When you did above select Start, all programs, accessories, System Tools, cleaning disk to emptying your trash, delete temporary Internet files and other selected options. I recommend also you click Other Options, System Restore and delete all but the last system restore point. Run Disk Defragmenter.

    Hello

Sorry for the late reply. From your description, it seems that your wireless network connection is too slow since the installation of Windows updates. It is difficult to manage when things do not work as expected.

    • Do you know what update has been installed?

Since you've already tried to fix the problem, I think can help to uninstall and reinstall the wireless network drivers. To do this, follow these steps.

    1. Click Start and then type devmgmt.mscand press enter. The Device Manager window opens.
    2. Expand network adapter.
    3. Right-click on the wireless network card, and then select Uninstall.
    4. Restart the computer.
    5. Download and install the latest drivers wireless on the manufacturer's Web site.
