  ATI/AMD site is general for all GPU ATI driver, HP site provides a driver ATI/AMD custom/tested for HP model.

  Unless the HP drivers are too old as in the case of XP, I recommend you to use the drivers from the HP site.

  During the upgrade of the W8 display driver has been changed to the display driver Microsoft Basic. It has distorted the image on the screen.  It reduces an image North/South (so a perfect on-screen circle resembles an ellipse). A picture of a car seems extremely strange. I tried to download the latest driver on the HP site, but it will not let me install - error message says it is only for Vista, and the installation is complete. The HP Web site confirms that there is no suitable driver for installation of Windows 8 on my laptop.

• Windows 7 cannot install the video driver for vaio

  I installed windows 7 RC on my computer laptop vaio VGN-TX770P. The standard VGA controller seems to work the laptop screen using the chip intel, but claims he can not find a driver for the connector external vga for monitor. I tried to install the vista drivers from the website of sony in vista compatibility mode, but it seems to ignore it. Any suggestions?

  OK - solved. Machines built around chipset 915GSM need to install the XP driver downloaded from intel in XP compatibility mode. That at least gets video acceleration and double screen works as well as XP.
