Video card fried?

So I have a Dell XPS Studio 1640 and then today I was watching a video froze my screen and the laptop no longer. I restarted and had weird lines that appeared from top down around the windows while loading logo. Then it froze again and the laptop monitor now refuses to start. (I see the initial screen of the DELL logo or anything like that).

I did 'J + power' and the colours of the screen seem to flash correctly without any distortion. I also did "fn + power" and after some time, I get a few beeps and caps lock flashes for the lighting of volume. No idea what they mean. I also tried to connect to a TV with an HDMI cable with no luck. I also tried to unload the techniques that I have read on the forums.

I'm assuming that my graphics card is fried (that's over 4 years). So my first question is that my motherboard has a few credits built in graphics card? If yes how I'd everything using them instead? Also how effectively confirm that my graphics card is indeed fried? Other suggestions are also welcome.

Thank you!

You pretty well confirmed a video chip bad - there is no other GPU motherboard other than the one that failed.  You will need to replace the motherboard.

My husband iPhone 5 was not load so I replaced taxation port, which didn't work so I replaced the battery. It seems to have worked because when it is plugged in, the computer recognizes that it and he did the sound perception-, but the screen was completely black and by pressing the home screen can that Siri, so we thought that maybe the screen has been fried. I wanted to see if it was the screen that was bad, or if it was the mother board and we should just scrap it and get a new phone, so I swapped the screen with my phone. Now my screen does not work! Neither work. My screen is black but my phone still works, and I can't Siri by pressing the home screen. I guess it was because my husbands phone was always powered (but we couldn't tell) and it fried or something. I fry the video card on the motherboard? Is - something that can be fixed and if so, what parts do I need?

The iphone has no serviceable parts by the user. You have basically destroyed two phones for something which you ought to have apple do.

  • HP Pavilion DV9700t Ent Notebk: Likely blown video card. Need second opinion

    Hi all

Well, in case you are wondering how I do...

Back in December 2013, I clean installed my machine to win 8.1 and aired big.  No problem, he didn't like.

My computer specs are as follows:

    Purchased in June 2008

    Laptop HP Pavilion DV9700t Ent

Video: 512MB Nvidia GeForce 8600M GS

    17.0 "WSXGA + BrightView Widescreen

    Processor Intel core duo T9500

    240 GB at 7200 RPM Sata Dul HD 120GB X 2

    4 GB DDR2 Sys Mem (2 dimm)

    SN: [redacted for privacy]

    REF: KL086AV

My problem now is that I'm sure I did skip the video card.

Symptoms: I was and use the maching regularly without any problems at all.  No error or anything.

The only unusual thing is the machine heats up a LOT all around the touch pad and where you rest

your hand and the center of the machine.  It happened last autumn some time or maybe alitle

front.  Does not cause any functional problems.

In any case, I used it for stuff, when the video "flashed on/off voltage approximately 12 times, then gave an error about"

'unstable video driver', then the 'suspended' for one minute machine to do something, then it crashed and

    turned off.

When I restart the machine, I see the power light and the lights of the cylinder of the upcoming HD and

read the disks.  But nothing ever comes to the top on the screen more.  It doesn't matter how long wait.

I have to overide and turn off and get the same results with several attempts.

Can not start on disks or even enter into installation mode, because I don't see what is on the screen.

What happens, is that it seems to get a 'very' small almost imperceptible glow on the screen, so I'm

assuming that the video portion food is ok.  Simply nothing showing on the video.

I tried plugging my HDMI cable to my tv and try starting this way, but it does not work either.  I think there

to be started later in the goal for this part work.

Similarly, I thought to connect an external monitor to the "vga" (so im saying that he rectified) port, but I think that

You must configure in Setup? (not really sure)

To make a long story short, I can't see any video.

I didn't know if the video card was onboard or not with the motherboard (I bet it is), then I tried to

carefully take it apart.  I didn't want to break it, so I'm not in the distance with her.

The machine is guaranteed anyway so no matter if I try.

I had a computer outside technician come and try to watch too, and they had no more than I did.  Except

they were able to get it out more than me and they do not seem to confirm that video is "embedded."

    There are.

I have been using win 8.1 fine for 6 months, he loved, and now my video card fried.  That's ok.

My machine is less than 6 years old and out of warranty.

I wonder if there is a problem on board, if anyone has an idea of what it would cost if I send back to HP to look at, or what are the usual scenarios in this case.

I think that the replacement of the motherboard will cost several hundred dollars and since the machine is now older, it may be better spent on a more recent machine.

I am looking for a second opinion here now.

    Thanks in advance,

  • Advice on a video card update

I need to a new one, time to upgrade.  Any advice would be very helpful.

I'm using Adobe CS4 applications with the Agency at the Center.  I'm on Windows XP Pro.  My old card was an NVIDIA card and it was great, until it fried.  Temporary COMPUTER support, people have installed an older video card they had lying around - it works, but not well.  I work in a unit where I am the only person who makes a video/graphic works, then nobody here can advise me on this.  IT support says basically "tell us what to order... »

I'm looking on NVIDIA Quadro graphic cards - but they seem expensive.  But I see prices ranging from $ 49 to $ 3,000.  I want a good fast card, but I have to be within reasonable limits.

I am not knowledgeable on these cards, but you want something that will first work with my system and projects.  Currently, I mainly work with files DV standard, published under the title of streaming media or DVD.  Most of the work is for the University of Michigan - doing research in elementary classrooms.  I imagine that one day we will go to the HD and BluRay so I'd like to think forward a little to make my decision.

In a typical week, I will have 4 to 6 new projects come in addition to the projects that are currently be reviewed and changed.  Render time is a big consideration.  Until I started to look for in a new card, I didn't even know the video card fell to rendering speed.

I agree with the previous post.  All the cards mentioned are really excessive at this stage.  You can easily go out with a card of $50 with little or no difference in performance on cards costs a lot more.  If things change down the road, you can always upgrade.

    For now, go cheap.

  • Double video cards

I have the video card from AMD Radeon 7950 / 3GB with 3 monitors has 30' and two of 24.  Would I be able to add an another 7950 to help speed up the video rendering?  And not to add another monitor.  Or should I replace the video card for two cards video that would be equal to 3 GB?

Yes, you can add another video card, however, I think that the 7950 requires two power connections to THE and the MP has only two connections. You probably need to add another power supply

  • Bad video card - last ditch effort

    Hello

I'm 99% sure this is my video card that is causing this problem.

Started a few days ago the screen filled with red pixels randomly, it could get worse over the next few minutes, and then the computer was completely insensitive - had stopped the clock and the mouse does not work yet.  I was able to ssh from my laptop, but cannot open applications and reboot via ssh wouldn't work, had to hard - reboot.  After having let it sit for awhile, it seemed better, I was hoping it was a stroke of luck.  Just right tonight (a few days since the accident of 1), he began acting again... bad.  I tried to run the Apple Hardware Test, he could not even done that - she's blocked (at the forefront in the screenshot), the mouse still worked, but even after half an hour, neither the time nor progress bar update.

I have a NVIDIA Quadro graphics card, I'm not sure that is because apparently they only give information on the card itself.  I know that it was very expensive.  Tomorrow I'll try cleaning all the contacts on the map and the location of the motherboard.  Beyond that, all I can think to do is to buy a new video card.  Is it possible to fix a video card, or is it simply not feasible?  I can also try to put it in another location, to see if that solves (which would indicate that the problem is on the motherboard, rather than the map, but I doubt that will solve it).

I removed the video card all together, the system is not is more locked up (so far), I am able to use via my MacBook screen sharing, and everything seems good function... which pretty much confirms for me, it's the video card (or slot) that's the problem.

Does anyone have suggestions until I leave shell $500 on a new video card?  This expenditure could not have come at a worse time...

I don't think I need anything too serious for a video card, I use Final Cut Pro.  I installed also just Apple Motion (literally, one day before all this crap started to happen, it seems strange that it could be related, but the time is quite a coincidence), and I join with two dual-link DVI ports.  I'd be curious to know if anyone has recommendations what video card to buy.

Thanks in advance for any advice or thoughts.

  • NVIDIA video card do not have FireFox, other browsers are ok.

I went from an ATI video card Nvidia GeForce GT620 card yesterday and now when I use Firefox, when I scroll or when the browser load or 'think', the speakers make a cracking noise when music plays. If I pause Windows Media Player or the Zune software and scroll I don't hear any sound but as soon as the music plays and then scroll, its all crackle-y.

The problem does not occur in Chrome or IE 11, only firefox I'm running Windows 7 32 bit.

I just discovered that scroll in Outlook also makes noise if its not just Mozilla FireFox.

  • Firefox crashes when it starts. I tried to reset it; I uninstalled and reinstalled no question. The problems started after I changed my video card

    Crash ID: bp-1c18c383-28e4-426c-96a7-ff97e2130906
    OS: Windows 7 SP1 64-bit
I had to change my video card, immediately after this FF started crashing at the beginning.
The graphics card is a Nvidia GeForce 210.
    I tried to:
    -Reset FF;
    -uninstall, delete the registry, reinstall it;
    -Windows Update;
    -Update (311.06) video card drivers
    but no way.
I can start FF mode without failure.
Any help will be really appreciated.

I solved it by disabling hardware acceleration in the FF options.
There seems to be a conflict between FF and some drivers from Nvidia.

  • MacBook Pro video card

My MacBook Pro suddenly started flashing and screen freeze/2008. It seems that the video card has renounced life. I can't determine if the NVIDIA GeForce 8600 M GT card is a separate card, or if it is integrated to the main logic board. Is anyone know for sure? It was a great computer and I'm not ready to give up on this yet. I am ready to replace if it is not the main Board.

    Thank you.

On laptops, they are chips soldered on the motherboard, not a removable card. You can, however, the motherboard replaced if you can find one.

  • HP Pavilion Slimline s3720f: what video card should I buy?

I want to add a new video card (not too expensive) for my old HP Pavilion Slimline s3720, but I do not know what video card to buy, because there are far too many choices. I know that the new card must be low profile with a half support so it can fit into the currently available in the motherboard slot. I hope that Conect my Dell UltraSharp 1708FP 17-inch LCD flat monitor VGA on this new card to get the best resolution and graphics. Can someone give me a recommendation indicating which card to buy? Please be specific. Thank you.

The slimelines should never require a lot of video.  Your 2008 model circa was Vista.  Updates drivers ended with WIN 7. It's a miracle you got WIN10 without drivers available is another story.  Another factor is the skinny 160W PSU. That limits your options if you have a.  The common consensus is that either.  added heat from a graphics card, the likely additonal to a new power supply really outweighed costs.

  • install the video card

How can I disable integrated/onboard graphics on my hp 3500 pro using windows 7.  my system does not show a boot option disable security

Most HP desktop PC BIOS turn off the graphics card integrated automatically when a video card is installed.

UEFI PCs are a very different breed. Upgrade one video solution to others which specifies the option HP is quite difficult because of the strict limitations that the BIOS placed on upgrades.

Yours is a work PC and not a class of consumer product.

The NVIDIA GeForce GT635 2 GB and AMD Radeon HD8570 are only two video cards eventually sold with the PC model you own. Low profile cards models are likely to be the best way to go.

  • What type of video card? PCI, PCI Express or AGP?

I have a new hp a6647c and you want to use two monitors. I need a new monitor VGA video dualistic structure. A store asked me what type of Governing Council would hold in my computer, CPI, CPI Express or AGP.  So, how can I determine which Board is necessary for my hp 6647?

    Here are the specs:

    http://support.HP.com/us-en/document/c01559155

You can not use an AGP card. There is no AGP slot. You have an open pci express x 16 video card slot and a pci slot. You may in fact theoretically have three monitors; two ducts by a dual PCI express head and a third led by a pci video card. If you plug a video card into one of the expansion slots, you will lose the onboard video capability.

  • Pavilion p7 - 1207c: upgrade video card on Pavilion p7 - 1207c

    Hello

I am wanting to upgrade the integrated graphics card that came with my computer to a GeForce GT 730.

I already have the card and was plugged into my PCIe x 16 slot and see the fan turns, but neither my BIOS or Windows sees a card plugged into this niche.

I go into the BIOS to see if I had to activate the crack, but the only option I see is to disable or enable security on the slot. It has already been set to disabled.

I am at a loss to know recognized, and if more info is needed I am happy to provide.

Your desktop computer motherboard is pre-UEFI. This means that a video card with a vBIOS EFI will not work.

Return the video card and find one that allows switching between legacy vBIOS and EFI BIOS. A video card with a legacy vBIOS will also work.

Check out Sapphire Technology graphics cards. They made a number of card games that have a dual video BIOS that allows switching between UEFI or legacy vBIOS.

    http://www.sapphiretech.com/catapage_pd.asp?cataid=271 & lang = eng

You can check that by the removal of the video card and starting the Windows machine.  In the search box type in MSINFO. Who calls on system information. Take a look down the list to find the subject that says BIOS mode. to the right you will see what type of BIOS of your motherboard has.

The following image of sysinfo is desktop DIY that I'm typing this.
