Video in Firefox continually flashes completely or partially black

Using Firefox 14.0.1, Firefox flash window areas or remains black. This can be limited to a small part of the window for the entire window. Firefox is the only application where this problem occurs. All plug-ins are up-to-date. Operating system is Win7 Ultimate SP1. Video driver is ATI Radeon HD 5850, the driver has been verified as up-to-date...

The problem was not confined to scroll, it would also come and go just by moving the mouse in the window. Or he was confined to the pages which included all Flash. Basic text even simple pages have had the same problem (actual text files from two different sites have been opened to check). This solution has done to correct the problem.

Thank you!

    Hello

Try disabling graphics hardware acceleration. As this feature has been added to Firefox, it has gradually improved, but there are still some problems.

You will have to perhaps restart Firefox for it to take effect, so save any work first (e.g. you compose mail, documents online that you are editing, etc.).

    Then perform the following steps:

    1. Open the Firefox Options (Preferences on Mac or Linux) as follows:

      • In Firefox 29,0 and above, click on the menu button

then select Options Preferences on Mac or Linux, or Windows.

      • In 28.0 Firefox and earlier versions, click on the Firefox orange upper-left button, then select the 'Options' button or, if there is no button up Firefox, go to tools > Options.
    2. In the window of Firefox Options (or preferences), click on the Advanced tab, and then select general.
    3. You will find in the list of parameters, the checkbox use hardware acceleration when available . Clear this check box.
    4. Now restart Firefox and see if the problems persist.

In addition, please check the updates for your graphics driver by following the steps in the following knowledge base articles:

  • Cannot play flash videos in Firefox

I am unable to play content flash facebook or CNN video. I use Firefox 31 and Flash 14.0.0.179 (32-bit) running Windows 7 Pro. I also have the 64-bit version installed for use with internet explore. These videos play fine in internet explorer but not in Firefox. Videos CNN stopped play in Firefox months ago and Facebook stopped in recent days.

I started Firefox in safe mode, reset Firefox, uninstalled and reinstalled flash and uninstalled and reinstalled the latest version of realplayer (found this suggestion online). So far, nothing worked.

Just CNN videos freeze once the Player control bar appears at the bottom of the frame. Advertising plays, but it hangs at the start of the video of actual news.

Facebook displays the thumbnail for the video (no AutoPlay as it does in IE will) and when you click it you get the pop-up window with the user comments for the right, but just a black square where has to play the video.

If I right click and go to settings for flash, when I click on disable hardware acceleration, it reactivates it as soon as I click on close on the setting screen. When I return to the parameters of the box is checked again.

Accidents or other problems with some multimedia content in Firefox (for example, videos from Youtube and Flash animations or games) can often be solved by doing as in these Knowledge Base articles:

On Windows Vista and above all, you can disable protected Flash mode by following the instructions on these pages:

(See this blog post Adobe for more technical details on protected mode Flash.)

  • You Tube is not playing video on Firefox with Adobe Flash after the last update

You Tube and other sites do not play video on Firefox with Adobe Flash after the last update for both. Adobe Flash works on other sites but not You tube and sites that can have embedded videos from You Tube, I'm not sure.

Adobe Flash not crushed and no error message is visible. All that shows is a black screen for Flash video. Make a right click of the screen shows only a non-interactive 'a film has not loaded' and the clickable link to the home page of Adobe.

I spent an hour trying things as suggested for past problems similar to this, but none helped.

I sent sad face, letting you know what I think of the last update for this reason which explains pretty much the same thing, as I have said here.

I have no other info but if I had a form any entry and queries you I might be able to provide more.

  • Firefox crashed at random during the loading of a youtube video, and after you restart firefox no flash program wouldn't work on the browser

I was watching a youtube video.
    Firefox crashes randomly.
    Restart Firefox
Do not load the YouTube videos.
Other Web sites that uses flash to not load.
Tried the upgrade to a more recent flash, although 11.3 causes use of the CPU for a reason, so I upgraded to 11.2
    Videos do not load.

    Hello

You can try to Uninstall and reinstall Flash. If the problem persists you can also temporarily disable Flash in (Alt + T) Tools > Addons > Plugins and try the HTML5 videos wherever possible. Most of the videos without ads embedded have equivalents of HTML5. You can also try opening the problematic sites in IE Tab + or IE Tab in Firefox.

  • Can someone tell me how I can watch any video on Firefox without Macromedia Flash?

OK, I don't know, but the latest version of flash player really frustrated me. I don't like Chrome was my whole life the Firefox user, but I have to go because I can't stand adobe flash plugin. I uninstalled it and after restart of Firefox automatically plays videos from youtube, but does not have the same thing in dailymotion or vimeo or other sites. Is there a solution? Please help me I love Firefox.

Hi Raynover, although Google Chrome does not require to install Flash as a plugin, it's because the Flash is integrated. So I don't think you can really get out of Flash!

This troubleshooting article has recent suggestions on Flash in Firefox, and I think it will be updated regularly for at least the next week or two: 11.3 Flash does not load video in Firefox.

  • Appear only as white background videos in Firefox

I read day and following all the leads I have found to fix this problem. When on Youtube or any other video site that uses Flash, when you select a video to watch, it shows only a white background where has to play the video. Right click in the white box, not display a dialog box, so I can not even choose the Flash settings. Because I can't go in the settings, I can't check to see if activate hardware acceleration is checked or not. If I go here, http://helpx.adobe.com/flash-player/kb/flash-player-64-bit-operating.html below:

    Flash drive information

If Flash Player is installed on your browser, the following box shows the version of Flash Player and your operating system. If Flash Player is not installed, you receive an error message.

What I see is an empty area.

When I had the problem to fix, this laptop was running 20 Firefox and Flash Player 14. I upgraded to Firefox 28.0 and a clean install of FP 14, no change. I uninstalled and reinstalled Flash according to the stricter guidelines. I even dug up an old version and tried, but no joy. I have the exact same configuration running on other machines, and they play videos, although on one in particular, Flash Player crash more I want. I digress... my specs are the following:

    Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit

    Firefox 28.0.1

Flash Player 14.0 (latest version as of 28/07/2014

If Flash is installed, it only works in Internet Explorer. If I uninstall Flash, videos Youtube will play in IE and Firefox, using the HTML5 versions automatically. Once FP is installed, I can not play video in Firefox, and IE uses Flash Player as if nothing is wrong.

    Help, please!

I try to not not sellers by name in public forums, but Comodo is one of the frequent offenders.  They try to intercept the communication between Flash and Firefox, that fires our security protections and causes the Flash and Firefox to be unable to communicate.

You can try to stop the Comodo, but I don't think that will do.  It's easy, then you might as well try it first.  Make sure that Comodo is not running and restart Firefox.  If this does not work, try to uninstall Comodo completely, restart, and there's a pretty good chance that Firefox will start magically work again.

You have any other things of privacy / security at stake?

  • I can't yet see flash players in firefox after uninstall and reinstall of firefox and flash several times. How can I fix this permanent?

I can go in chrome without any problem and watch any video without any problem. the second I get into firefox, nothing does. I had this problem on and off for years. I really don't see why you can't solve the problem, if anyone can. I uninstalled and reinstalled firefox and flash player several times. nothing seems to work. I am really really tired of this same problem for years, I stay with firefox, because you are aware of privacy and are always more. I don't know what other details to tell keep you other than that just to be and it makes it very difficult to do anything on firefox, when I can't use something simple like the flash drive. as I said, if other browsers can remedy I see no reason why firefox can not year after year. I hope there is a solution to this problem because it basically stopped a lot of my work on the net that I will no longer use google or microsoft. Thank you

If you use extensions (Firefox/tools > Modules > Extensions) which can block content (e.g., Adblock Plus, NoScript, Flash Block, Ghostery) then make sure that these extensions are not blocking content.

Start Firefox in Safe Mode to check if one of the extensions (Firefox/tools > Modules > Extensions) or if hardware acceleration is the cause of the problem.

    • Put yourself in the DEFAULT theme: Firefox/tools > Modules > appearance
    • Do NOT click on the reset button on the startup window Mode safe
  • Graphics card Radeon laptop on platform Windows 8 crashes when you watch videos in Firefox. Problem does not replicate on other browsers. Is there a solution?

I have a 4540 of Hp ProBook with a Radeon 7 x chip video integrated of series, platform Windows 8.1. When I watch videos with the browser Firefox video adapter fails and the computer sometimes freezes. If I watch videos with another browser I don't have a problem. I went to HP and have downloaded the latest drivers from AMD but still no will. So far, the only solution is to not use Firefox when watching video clips. In short, I don't know what direction to go, and since the problem seems to be specific with Firefox, I thought I would draw your attention to the problem.

Some additional info... If I bypass the Radeon chip, i.e. use the alternate Intel video chip, I don't have a problem. It said the native PC with Windows 7 pro with the upgrade software and the key of Windows 8. In any case when 7 was installed there where no problems with the playback of videos in Firefox. Installing Windows 8 was installed a clean place, not an upgrade...

    Thank you

I forgot a second hardware acceleration setting, which is changed in Flash itself. See this article from Adobe technical support: http://helpx.adobe.com/flash-player/kb/video-playback-issues.html#main_Solve_video_playback_issues

  • Firefox continues to change the url that I entered

I've updated a Web site. When I paste the url in Firefox it keeps changing and display a different page.

The one I want is http://megalithmovers.org/blog-2015-10-24.htm
Firefox continues to change it to http://megalithmovers.org/blog-2015-01-24.htm
The two pages are valid (they have the date in the url as YYYY-MM-DD)
I know that the url is valid, that I stuck in other browsers. Somewhere FF has cached the page in January. Being too smart for that is good, it's settled I've mistyped the url and displays this page, not the one October.
I deleted all the history of this site, but that makes no difference.

Please don't tell me to restore the FF default settings - I'll have to re - install all Addons then.

  • Yahoo said firefox blocks flash

I X10.7.3 of the OS and the latest Flash, but he says always firefox blocks flash when I'm in my yahoo email. How should I do?

Here is what happened: last week, Adobe updated the way they report the Flash version (no Firefox version but the Flash version) as part of a Flash update. It seems that Yahoo Mail didn't update their code to properly control and so it seems (for them) that Flash does not work (they can see that you have installed but does not have the code to check version).

As you probably figured out, you're not actually blocked Flash and this must be affixed to the side of Yahoo.
