video with Skype problems

I use an Acer Aspire 3000 laptop with windows xp sp3 and I just bought a logitech C270 HD webcam. I use the 5.0 version of Skype. Whenever I'm trying to make a video call, I can't see the other person. They can see me. I don't see myself even in the preview video on Skype settings. The video box says video rendering problem. He says that I don't have a valid directx installed. I checked my system. I have DirectX 9.0. I even reinstalled it. Please help me with this.
