  Hi all

  I am relatively new to advanced use of Captivate stocks (now using Cap5). I have a strong background in Actionscript, so programming concepts are not new for me. However, this relatively simple process has left me speechless. Here's what I have going. Using variables and advanced actions, I use multiple CHOICE answers as a matter of likert scale. I do this so I can send the user to a specific slide based on the culmination of a pre-test score and post test. So, in my blade of MCQ test I 5 responses and the value of each of them to assign a number to a variable, once chosen. That is to say. Click 1, strongly agree to assign v_Score1 to 1, click 2 are agree assigns 2 to v_Score1, etc. I then an expression that adds two slides responses (v_totalScore = v_Score1 + v_Score2). On the next slide, I show that v_Score1, v_Score2 and v_totalScore are in the legends. Then I have an action on a button that triggers another action called a_goToResults. a_goToResults is a fast action with two conditions. The first said if v_totalScore is less than 5 go to the next slide and hide legend blue (cap_Blue). The other condition is if v_totalScore is 5 or more to go to the next slide and hide the Red legend (cap_Red). Everything works except for the part of the skin. I named the legends and they selected in the drop-down list, so I don't know there are no typos. I can't make Captivate to hide the legend however. Someone at - it give me advice or know another way to do what I'm doing? Thanks in advance.

  On which the blades are these legends? I suspect they are on another slide of the slide where the peak action is executed?

  You can't show/hide an object with a tip action unless it is on the same blade where the action. I once blogged about display objects / masking. Perhaps it might help you:

• ThinApp IE 8 working on a VMware view image with IE 10 or 11 is installed in native mode

  I am creating a thinapp for IE8 so our users can get back to IE8 if they fall into compatibility problems when we switch to IE 10 or 11 of the EI.   The thinapp I created works very well on my current image with IE 8 natively installed but when I update Native IE 8 to 10 or 11 I get the following error

  If anyone has found a solution, or if you have virtualized IE8 with the current version of thinapp please put your instructions. Thank you

• Hide various objects on different slides with the same tip Action

  I'm quite new to Captivate and because of that I'm fighting for the search feature, I need. I have a project of say 40 slides. On each slide, I have a button field on the left side guide and when clicked I have a window scroll from left to right, in the main frame of the window.

  Also on each slide is an object that displays specific information (usually in the form of text) with the previous buttons and following attached to it (its actually just a PNG image with the buttons "Previous" and "Next" with click boxes on them).

  The problem I have is when I click on the field guide that I want to hide this information object. I can easily do this in a tip for 1 slide action but when I want to the same tip action allows to always hide the information object of the current slide that I meet problems. If I was able to name objects of the same name is not a problem.

  The only "fast" solution I have is that each object information on each slide set to hide when I open the guide and then visible when I close the guide.

  Is their a better solution or does this supposed same matter?

  Why you not time the objects for the rest of the project, always on top? In this case, you will have an ID (I recommend you even a group). BUT: This means that you cannot use boxes to click but must spend much more flexible form buttons.

• With the help of a tip action to display a picture (or button) on each slide.

  I have a tip action that evaluates certain criteria. Advance action is called from several different slides in the presentation. Is it possible that I can get it to display a fixed image, if the criteria are met? It seems that I have to write a new, slightly different tip on each slide action to "show" the picture of each slide.

  Is it possible to share an image (or button) so that the tip action can do appear, any slide, you are on?

  I would like to know if I need to provide for additional details. Thank you!

  Technically your advanced actions are allowed to show or hide the images on the slide where they are actually executed.  If an advanced running on slide 3, for example, action will not be able to display or hide an image on slide 5.

  However, what you can do is to place the image on one of the slides earlier in the project and then assign timed for the rest of the project.  This allows you to SHOW or HIDE the image of any slide later in the project where your advanced Action is executed.

• Scrolling image with action MSO problem

  I have a problem with frames scrolable in MSO.

  I need to have a vertical to not scroll in a horizontal scrolling in a MSO (see attached), no problem at this stage.

  

  The problem appears when I add an action to change the status of the DSO.

  If I simply add a button with an action "go State", the work of horizontal sweep, but the vertical doesn't work.

  Even if I enable "drag change State" (instead of the buttons) in the slide show window.

  I also tried to put the buttons "go to the State" in the State, does not.

  This is a really strange bug.

  I tried to make a frame with scrolling HTML imported in the form of web content, but InDesign is not like that and freeze at the preview.

  I work on a mac with OS 10.6.8, up to date CS6 (v27 player) and an iPad2 (A1395) with the reader up-to-date.

  In fact, V and H scrolling works very well in an ESM, the problem appears when I add an action to change the State of object.

  Enabling "swipe to change the State" was just a test to confirm that it is the action to change the status which is problematic.

  It works now with scrolling HTML. I tried on another computer (after I saw your topic "how to clear Office Content Viewer down problem?"), and it works very well (with the buttons "go to State").

  Edit: I reset preferences InDesign (cmd + alt + shift + click to launch the app), and it works on my computer.

• Tip action CP5 need help with conditions...

  Hello

  I created my own multiple question (MC) with 4 theeorie response which 3 are fair and 1 is wrong.

  As soon as a true/false response is checked, a tip action is performed - check mark in the box as shown and "feedback" to answer.

  In the case of a good answer - any previous response feedback is hidden, but the check box answers correct stay while evil answer checkmark is hidden.

  An example of the tip action for one of the three answers:

  

  This is what looks like the question until the answer to my question must be implemented:

  

  Now to my question:

  At the end of the responses, I would like to the user get a message: CONGRATULATIONS...

  This should appear when all 3 answers have been selected.

  After CONGRAT... message, they can then click on continue button to continue training.

  I'm curious to any suggestion on how to achieve this

  OPTION A:

  The measures to achieve the congratulations message on the same Blade (which is the issue) 1. Actions such as B_Selected, C_Selected etc must be conditional actions instead of the standard actions, that they are at the moment.

  2. four variables must be created in project-> Variables-> add new. These can be called a, b, c, d and a value of 0 (zero), which means that the option is not selected 3. In the conditional action B_selected first requirement should be something like

  4. in the second step of the action itself i.e. B_selected, follow these steps

  All actions should have these two conditions and if there are actions such as B_unselect, then 'assign b = 0' in such actions.

  OPTION B

  On the other hand, if it is showing the message of congratulations on the next slide, it will be simpler as this 1. Create four variables a, b, c, and d = 0 2. In actions such as B_Selected (no need to change to conditional action), add a statement 'assign b = 1'.

  3. in the actions such as B_unselected, add a statement 'assign b = 0'.

  4. at the exit of the slide execute advanced action, which will be a conditional action as follows:

  Save a preset size for truncation tool, then call him upwards in action. Add layers of resizing based on the percentage, when necessary. • Fade to within the tip Action

  Is it possible to fade an object from in a tip action?  I use 'Show', but neither the ' Transition: fade in only "or the"AlphaFromTo", when applied to the object, seems to do the trick.  Other methods available?

  Sorry, there seems to be a misunderstanding. Will try to explain.

  If you apply an effect to an object, the effect has a "duration". When you 'show' object and you want to see the effect applied, the playback head must be able to move to that effect. That is why I asked how you applied the Alpha effect. An effect can be applied with the 3 workflow:

  • Time-based: it is one you use, the effect won't be visible only with a Show command to all the
  • Triggered by an interactive object
  • Triggered by a command in a tip action

  Look at this timeline:

  

  The button has a 'Show Star' action without letting go of the playback head. The AlphaFromTo takes 2secs. If I put the timeline star at the beginning of the slide, when you use the command Show Star, the beginning will show in its current state, which would be with a fairly high Alpha. When you move the star timeline like I did here, the star will show but with a low coefficient Alpha, very dimmed. Perhaps this best explains why using a time-based effect makes no sense at all.

  If you use the effect in the tip action, you should have out the read head as well. It is not true that you cannot go back to an 'image', I told her micro-navigation there are many versions, it's a little heavy, but it is possible: Micro-Navigation in Adobe Captivate - Captivate blog

  I am a user of long date Captivate and have dabbled with advanced Actions and Variables, so know just enough to get me in trouble. Hoping someone can help me with what I hope is a simple tip action:

  I am currently using CP8 and created a training where learners click on a map of building to go to different "rooms" to complete an interaction drag-and - déposer a certain topic related HR. The problem is that some of my learners test forget what 'rooms' they have already read and will click on those they have already visited. I added a back button, so that they can return to the map if they made a mistake, but now they are able to leave the slide without completing the interaction drag and drop.

  Basically, I need to hide the back button unless the learner has already completed (for example, the user clicks on the button submit to) the Drag and Drop interaction, but I'm not sure how to set up. Can anyone help?

  Hide the button back to begin with. A tip action can be triggered by an event the success and failure of the & slipped. I guess that you will need at least two commands:

  • View the "back" button
  • Go to the next slide.

  It seems the simplest solution. You can also ignore the slide D & D when they enter a second time, but then you will need a Boolean variable to be turned on/off by these same events and a conditional action on which checks this variable and immediately jumps to the next slide when it is set to 1.

  I also have a text button with a tip action that is:

  Assign the cpLock with 0

  Assign the cpCmdShowPlaybar with 1

  Go to the next slide

  As I said works well when it published as a SWF but not in HTML5 ideas why this might be? I use a local uniserver to view HTML5 content it does not work from its location in windows Explorer (if I do the box even appears).

  Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

  OK, I built a test based on what you described. It does not in HTML5.

  I've created and another statement that alerts (agreement == "I have read and understood the above statement") and alerts set to true.

  I also put a text caption that displays the agreement, and it shows the text correctly when you select the check box.

  The problem is that Captivate puts an extra set of quotation marks around the text in the CPM.js:

  "if ((cp.ho(\'agreement\') == cp.ho (\'"I have read and understood the statement above "\"))) "

  If you change if it will work:

  "if ((cp.ho(\'agreement\') == cp.ho (\'I have read and understood the statement above\')))"

  I thought I got it and did this correctly, but when I try to use TI - nothing happens. (that is, I click on the box click to select an option, and nothing happens). I have Dr. Jaisingh tweeted a few times but received no response.

  OK, think I found it, even after blogging about it but this post has not been read that much. In chronological order, I'll tell what I did.

  First of all, I cursed the lack of discipline, labelling, sorry, but said that Pooja on this subject more than once, why different labels for the objects used in the source PSD file, it is more difficult to read and analyze.

  All the 'cells' had in Fade transitions / Fade out. If you set to display for the rest of the project, these transitions and possibly apply effects will repeat on each slide where these objects are visible! So I started with the deactivation of these transitions.

  As Andy pointed out, and I've confirmed: stock Standard Advanced have a Continue statement. If I got it correctly, and the user can choose only once, even a go to the next slide would be better.

  That I started to suspect the use of the master slide. There is a partially transparent image on this slide model. This is the blog that I mentioned first:

  My solution is to merge the partially transparent image with the background on the slide master.

  RH6 using, that I imported a picture into a topic. For the images that I have created several maps image to post a link to other topics. However, I can't create a map image additional to that same image that includes only the screen Tip text. I get a message of invalid value: "Please select a file, bookmark or topic to bind the hyperlink to.»
  
  Is there a way to create a popup only the text of an image with multiple image map links? My final output will be to WebHelp but possibly migrate FlashHelp in the near future.

  If the image is at the beginning of the subject, or all alone in a reference topic, you can put "#" (without the quotes) as the link for each area reactive.

  If the image is larger than the viewing window, it can jump to the top, but only if the user clicks on the link.

  I tried wz_tooltips and like it. I agree with Leon, it will take time for the first image but maybe go faster later.
