• Toshiba 55 L 7453 DTV channel released in Polish version does not work

  Hello

  I have a big problem in Toshiba 55 L 7453 (Polish).

  I can't sort the channels, I can, t change the channel number, I can't change the list of channels in Polish.
  When I changed my TV to the German setting I can do it very easy (red, green, blue buttons), but in my Smart TV, I requests German, not Polish. If it's not good.

  Therefore, I went again to the Polish version and have the same problem.
  In digital television, it is impossible to do something channels of Pentecost.

  I tried to move the list of channels to my pen-drive and sorting via ToshibaEdit, but Toshiba Edition did not read my files

  I packed in zip file. So what I have to do?
  I know that other Polish users have a similar problem with channels.

  I think that vigi user has provided good info on this subject.
  On page 29 of the user manual, you can read this:

  But unfortunately, it s not mentioned why this feature is only available in Germany.

• Decent analog output of my Qosmio F20-154

  I use my Qosmio as a Microsoft Media Center with my TV connected via VGA output. It gives me a pretty good image.

  However, my TV does not support most of the modes of zoom for VGA; or it does for DVI or HDMI.

  So I tried the image output via S-Video - which produces a shitty and unacceptable photo.

  Unfortunately, Qosmio has no TV output, so I can't try it.

  So, does anyone know of a piece of hardware that can be used to make the Qosmio to produce a decent analog output, such as TV-Out (antenna) or Composite?

  As far as I know you have only two options to send the video signal.

  Qosmio F20 supports viga video and s-video ports.
  So either you will use the video VGA (15-pin) port or output video super TV (S-Video) 4pol mini to connect the TV to the laptop...

  I have connected my laptop to the TV also using the s-video port and the photo quality is OK.

  Please check you s-video cable and if possible test another in addition, I would recommend check some settings on the TV and s-video option

  I have a project where I spin 4 loops at the same time and must stop all the loops with a stop button as well as all the loops if one of the loops will receive an error.

  Two other methods not mentioned in the otherwise excellent document that mentioned Matt are the use of a global variable 'stop all' and a relative using a Global Variable of VIG/functional.  The reason to talk about, is that they can be used also stop 'detached' live, live which are defined to run asynchronously (and therefore a bit 'out of control') regarding the main VI.

  I use a "combination of ingredients" for some projects I'm developing using LabVIEW 2016 and its support of the channels.  For example, I use a Messenger channel to create something akin to a message in queue manager.  When the event loop detects that the exit button has been pushed back, it puts a Message "Exit" on the channel of Messenger and stops himself.  When the Message Loop sees "Exit", it sends one release Message who else has need to see (in one case, the producer of a producer/consumer model) and stops himself.  When the producer Gets the output Message, it puts a "last element is invalid" on the flow of the channel for consumers and stops himself.  When the consumer gets the message of the last element, he stops himself.  A magnificent waterfall.

  And I work (not yet 100% complete) how to extend this to start the asynchronous calls that do not (yet) support channels as easily...

• Is it possible to replace occurrences of a global variable massively while also setting up the components of connector?

  I work through some of my old code now, looking to increase the performance where I can. Here's my situation:

  1. I used Global Variables to spread a few constants in my screws, instead of a proper typedefed cluster.

  2. execution does not have an extension, but no matter when I save the project, I would say 50 to 60 percent of the economy/compling time is spent on the screw of 300 or more with global variables. I suspect it has to do with the link between the overhead associated with the global.

  What is the VI server is capable of? You can assume that the VI in question have very predictable names, matching the regular expression:

  Is it still worth it to replace?

  I don't know what you mean by compile time.  One of my big projects LabVIEW RT, which has about a thousand of screws, a lot of VIGs (FGVs), engines of the Action, even a few Globals and variable shared.  In my case, the thing that seems to "slow down" the compilation the most is the links to the report generation tool (I use Excel workbooks for 'drive' of experience and also save the data a bit).  If I do a building together, to build this routine and about 6 'support' routines (data analysis, utility Configuration, etc.), it may take a minute, but I can't find this excessive nor a charge (compared to the facility to isolate/encapsulate features in screws as FGVs).  So I guess I don't understand the "real problem"...

• To run the State and asynchronous control pending...

  I have a VI that I call asynchronously.

  When I run it, I record the refnum for her and watch her status to see if it stops running. At some point, the asynchrounous VI will run the pending execution. How can I see by using the State of the VI property node. I assumed, apparently incorrectly, that when a Subvi is "waiting to run" that he would be in a State of execution other "Running". Is there something else I should be looking? What works here?

  I'd certainly prefer this solution rather than an alternative such as send a user or view event since it places no restriction on the Subvi (i.e. the subvis connector plan).

  As I do this is to use asynchronous Start using the call and Collect Call option.  To say that if the VI has finished, I use a wait on node for asynchronous call with a short timeout - if he stopped (returned), then the wait will succeed without error, as if she is still underway, the wait will be timeout, throwing an error I can trap and clear.  My routine of waiting and then returns a Boolean to indicate whether the asynchronous routine is back.  If so, I can stop the asynchronous routine using a target Abort VI.

  In a fairly large project in real time, I had about 5-6 asynchronous 'loops' running in parallel, completely detached.  When I was ready to stop, I used a VIG who has been wired for their stop indicator.  In my hand, I then called the wait routine on all my routines in a loop until they call returned as "stopped", then I really 'arrested' them by calling the option "Stop" (Abort VI) on each of them.

• Why LabVIEW example projects using Global Variables?

  I'm puzzled.  I've been pretty good programmers LabVIEW talks (including some who work for the OR) and came away with the impression that Global Variables should, as a general rule, be avoided, with functional Global Variables (alias VI Globals) generally preferred for "local memory".

  I have studied some of the example distributed with LabVIEW, 2012 and 2013, in particular the proposed acquisition in real time and am struck by the use of Global Variables, where I'd be inclined to use instead a FGV.  For examples, to stop all the loops on the RT target, the overall "All the RT loop Stop" is defined; 'Constants' of configuration (such as timeouts, Streme network names, the names of the journal folder) are kept as Globals; Streme network endpoints are stored in Globals.

  [Note - there is a weird spelling of the second word of the network Streme, above - when I tried to post with the correct spelling, I got an error message saying this word is 'not allowed in this community".]  I apologize for the offense, but I must confess that I do not understand what the problem with the help of the spelling of this word...]

  Why use Globals in these cases, rather than write a bunch of VIGs to hold these data?  Note that almost all these Globals are 'Read' essentially (written once when a resource is acquired, for example) or "Read Only" (treated as if they were a constant).  Indeed, read-only variables can be written as a Subvi with only an output terminal, acting as a (visible, due to the icon) constant.

  I can see advantages to this approach.  On the one hand, VIGs can have error bounds who run the data flow (I just spotted a bug "data flow" in code, I am developing that is based on this model, to read configuration data to an XML file in a world and in the same VI, Global wiring to a "use - me" terminal, but with no guarantee that I'll read the overall after I write it).

  It is, I suppose, a matter of 'speed' - perhaps Global Variables are 'faster' than VIGs (especially if the VIG 'sits' on an error line).  My thought, however, is that this difference is likely to be trivial, especially as these VIGs (or Globals) tend to become "occasional" calls (with the exception of the indicator 'all the loop Stop' which is called once per line).

  Are there other arguments or considerations that make a Variable global to a better choice than a VIG?  Is there a reason that LabVIEW developers put in these start-up of projects LabVIEW?

  I have to ask, how do you use functional Global Variables?  Like just a Get and Set?  If so, you can use a global variable.

  Yes, globals are faster and use much less overhead.  At the summits of CLA in recent years, we talked about using globals.  The most common use is for Write-Once-Read Many and writing-never-Read Many with configuration data.  It's a good idea to use globals with the constants that can change on you.  It turns out that the world will have the same performance as a constant in this case.  This is done so that you don't have 1 place to edit the 'constant '.

  The rule on "Globals are evil" actually goes back several years when NEITHER had the huge "people of the country are bad" vendata.  But NEITHER explains well how to do things properly.  So I found people, instead of using local variables, using the value property node.  It's even worse because the property causes thread swaps and kills your performance.  It wasn't until I shouted to people to use wires and shift registers I have seen improvements in the way in which people wrote their code.  So people are always riffling in the use of globals and decided to use FGVs with the EEG and fixed rather cases.  But this does not solve the problem of the conditions of race with critical data and you cause an additional burden.

  So from my experience, I use globals all the time for configuration data.  Yes, you must be careful about the race conditions.  But as long as you understand that it is a common and useful practice.

  I would not use a global variable for data that are constantly changing (use registers to offset or Action motor) and/or processes that have critical sections of code (use a motor of Action).

  NOTE: I use the definition of Mercer to FGV (a Get/Set only) and motor Action (many cases which specifically affect the data).

• Issue of data collection

  I've written a VI that collects data continuously in a circular buffer, and is supposed to save all the points in the buffer to a file excel to an impact trigger. I currently use the scalar comparison of the limit of wave form VI to run the trigger (using the Boolean result), but after the project of the analysis, the trigger will not register for some reason any.

  Is it because VI comparison does not record the failure fast enough? Also, can anyone recommend an alternative that would more quick to use instead?

  Thanks for posting the code.  It shows quite clearly the source of the problem.

  I, personally, like the model of event-driven state machine you use, but you must remember that a State Machine can be in one State at a time.  In particular, if any State takes a significant amount of time (1 State user and waiting for event take at least 0.1 sec, a 'long time' data-acquisition-speech), you can miss things.

  What you want / need is a parallel loop, alias the design of producer/consumer model.  We had a similar situation involving a trigger, a "buffer of pre-event", and want to save the data.  Here's how we handled IT:

  • We had two pads - a pre-event buffer appropriate to save data before the trigger and a big enough post-event for "catch-up game" (we probably set to-1, as empirically, it remained small, 4-6).
  • We had a VIG/FGV who if we were in the phase "Pre-event" or "after the event" to save data in the memory.  We started in pre-event.
  • We had a Test for the State of relaxation.  If that's true, we put one Notifier "Start Saving."  In both cases, we then called «Get a sample»
  • Get a sample took a sample and, depending on whether we were before or after the event, put on the front or after the event queue.
  • We had a parallel loop waiting for the notifier (so it was essentially "suspended" until an event has occurred).  Once he fired, it meant that the loop of producer just changed from pre-event in retrospect, that the prior event queue was ready to be processed, and when we're done, we need treat the queue after the event, until we had treated enough data.  Treatment of the prior event queue is easy - empty the queue and use its components.  Similarly, the queue after event processing is also simple.

  Note - It was 4-5 years since I developed this system and realize I'm missing a few details.  I think we needed to fire the declarant after get a sample, information passing on the question of whether we are in a State "Trigger not yet ', a 'First trigger' or a State of"waiting for Godot"(meaning as much post-event data treatment) required.  I don't also forget how we treated fills the buffer "Pre-event" - we did ignore triggers if we did not have enough 'Before' data?  I don't remember.

  But, again, the trick is to backup data in a queue (the producer) course in a loop that is different than the process of emptying the queue (the consumer), so that the dump process does not interfere with the acquisition process.

• Help! Using Spry Accordion in the menu template & links on PanelTabs not open pages

  Please help me. I have redesigned my site and used an accordion Spry Panel for navigation. 5 Panel accordion tabs are supposed to go directly to the pages (without content in Panel accordion - only tab) while the other 2 have ul lists in content as submenus to the catalogues. The submenu links work, but the links in tabs. The site is hosted in Business Catalyst and the submenu links point to the BC catalogues.

• LR3 lens correction parameters

  Hi guys! I downloaded LR3 yesterday and played with the trial version for a few hours now. It looks like a very welcome upgrade on version 2.x. However, I can't fully appreciate how lens correction module is supposed to work.

  I am a user of nikon with lens Tamron 28-75. After setting "custom" lens profile correction and choosing Tamron as lens manufacturer, LR3 precisely my lens model is proposed and assigns an existing adobe profile. So far so good. But there is one thing that keeps me from feeling all happy and excited by this new feature: Lightroom would not save the different defaults for different focal lengths. For example, the goal of tamron 28-75/2.8 named above has somewhat considerate Canon type distortion at 28mm, and at the same time to its maximum of 75mm geometry, distortions are almost non-existent. So although I am happy with how LR3 manages wide-angle distortions, it makes things a lot more wrong with telephoto lens when I apply the default lens corrections.

  Where the question: can I somehow make settings in the module changes specific to the used focal length lens? Of course, I wish that LR do this for me, but since he cannot, there is a walkaround? Tweaking the settings for each shot takes a long time, and I see no reason not to make this a little more automated process.

  Think of it this way. LR is focal length setting and applying corrections. It gives you a 100 as the starting point. This means that 100% of the correction is applied. Lower dial 100 and lower the correction is applied. He switched and he too made the distortion/CA/Vig.

  Think of it as a volume control for the profile being applied.
