Virus alert on any Google/Bing/Ask... search

Any time I do a search by using any common search engine, I get a warning from Avast malicious URLs. This only happens with Firefox - not with IE or Chrome. The url in the error message is not in the registry, it must be associated with Firefox somehow. Version of Firefox is 15.0.1 and is Windows 7 with all updates installed.

From disabled addons solves problems. However, disable all the plug ins does not work.

The difference is Extensions, add-ons category which issues most often the causes. You can manually disable/delete most of them here (remove those who do not usually have a button should be removed through the control panel > programs and features):

Orange Firefox button or classic menu Tools > Modules > category: Extensions

You run Kaspersky, correct? If you use the SSL scanning feature, Firefox must be put in place to approve the present Kaspersky false certificate to decrypt your secure connections. If you used the discount during the last update function - for example, Firefox says it's a bad performance and offers to restore some default settings - you have to do it again the installer of Kaspersky/Firefox.

Google & bing seem to be diverted.  If I use either, I'm headed to a certain number of sites - normally shopiing - Nixxie & scour come to mind.  If a levy a site of my 'Favorites', there is no re-direct.  Malwarebytes for a couple of Trojans and the fixed, Norton found nothing (post Malwarebytes).  Re-lead still occurred.  ALG.exe showing in the process, but the location and file dates look ok (in system32 and as of 2008) of ideas on how to track down & difficulty?

  • Is it possible to have a Youtube or Google result the search appear in the history of Firefox without knowing about this?

I recently found a few Google and Youtube search, on my boyfriend's computer results in Firefox, which were "questionable" and when I asked him about them, he categorically denied knowing what they were and said he recently had some viruses on their computer and they could have put these results there. I don't know if this is possible or not. The only thing similar to what I have heard is virus redirecting you to a certain site, but not to specific google and youtube results, and if it happened, he should see, right? I think it's the version 11.0. Help!

It is possible that you have a virus which was redirect, but if there is research on Google and Youtube searches, it is likely that someone is doing some research.

You can try to run these tools to search for infections: http://www.malwarebytes.org/

  • How to install windows 7 Firefox without 'Ask search' and other software?

I would like to install Firefox pure, lean without other complementary software, such as "Ask search. Please download from the home page of Mozilla. Thank you for helping.

I moved cela Firefox Support Forum.

    You have two options.
    (1) uninstall the Ask toolbar to page addons (menu button of Firefox (upper right corner)-> Add-ons or Ctrl + Shift + A
    (2) uninstall Firefox and then re - install from Mozilla directly

Yahoo!, Ask, and other companies to combine their toolbars and other nonsense with Firefox it is therefore preferable to get it directly from Mozilla to avoid any "bloat-ware".

  • Problem with the google in Firefox search bar

Last week the google search bar began to do all the searching through the site google.nl Dutch. He has never done this before. I'm in England, and the search bar has always used google.co.uk by default. I don't know why this has changed. I have not modified any settings and I use the version the most up-to-date Firefox on my Windows laptop, 8. Change the settings of google through the google Web site does not help.

Well, Google thinks he knows better than us...

Perhaps it would work better to install a plugin for Google UK-specific search. This page has two options:

    http://mycroftproject.com/Google-search-plugins.html

    Look for these:

    • Google UK (SSL)
    • Google UK - United Kingdom (SSL)

After installation, you should probably use the search bar drop-down list to select the new search plugin in the bottom of the list.

You could also check your connection here:

"3-bar" menu button (or tools) > Options > advanced > tab mini network > button "settings".

The default "use system proxy" should piggyback on your LAN-Windows/IE settings, but you can also try the 'no proxy' to see if that changes anything.

  • Cannot delete the Google from Firefox search box

I really to add the DuckDuck search box to my broswe but the Google search box is still there. I tried to rermove it clicking on customize but not listed. I also went to add ons and its unlisted. For me, it looks like Firefox and Google have got togeter on this one. I wish I had the DuckDuch on my broswe Firefox search box. Any helpwould really appreciated

The search bar just happens to have Google as default search engine.

    1. Click on the button Add to Firefox on the next page.

    2. Check "Make the current search engine", then click on the Add button.
    3. You can always switch to another search engine by clicking on the icon on the left side of the search bar.

  • Why Mozilla Firefox uses Google as their search on the web if Google stores everything we look for?

Why Mozilla Firefox use Google as their search engine if Google stores everything you are looking for and tracking what you do online? I have nothing against Firefox, I wonder why.

This partnership is as old as Firefox itself, but each user can use any search engine they cars not to use - no reason, you should use Google simply because it is the default in Firefox.

The search engines in the search bar can be removed.

The search engine used in the Awesome Bar can be changed through subject: config.

The search engine on the subject: home page can be changed, although not as easily as with the Awesome Bar.

As to 'why', who knows? When Google offered to help Mozilla with financial support through their search engine is the search engine by default for Firefox, Mozilla had to say no to something that any other search engine is also at this time?

  • no microphone of Google in the search widget icon?

    Hello.

I own a landmark and has been recently updated to 2.1

In the Help Center under the basic principles, in accordance with the "say and search" section there is a Google search by voice facility.

Unfortunately, it has no microphone icon in my Google search widget?

I also installed the voice activation, so I don't know what I have to do?

    Please help thanks

What region is your stage of? If nothing else than the United Kingdom (I think), this feature was removed for unknown reasons. I am native English living in Germany and I'd love this feature, but for some reason any Google/Motorola/O2 or the one who ruled, she wanted not here.

  • Now I have Yahoo as my search engine when I want only Google, but the "Search" tab in preferences shows Google, even load Yahoo

When I open Firefox, Yahoo charges as my search engine, when I want to Google. It shows that Google is my search engine in Firefox preferences, under the tab "Search", but still Yahoo takes over as my engine of research envisaged, what is not!

I have a Macbook Pro and need advice for the resolution of this problem on my Macbook Pro, not a PC. Can you help me?

As a result of one of these points, a possible culprit would be an extension. If you prefer a little troubleshooting before using Refresh...

You can view, turn off and often remove unwanted extensions or unknowns on the page modules. Either:

    • Command + shift + a (Windows: Ctrl + Shift + a)
    • "3-bar" menu button (or tools) > Add-ons

In the left column, click Extensions. Then, take a critical look on the list on the right side. All extensions are optional. When in doubt, turn off.

Often, a link will appear above at least an extension disabled to restart Firefox. You can complete your work on the tab and click one of the links in the last step.

    Any improvement?

  • How to change Mozilla.cfg to set google as default search engine

Need help with our setting mozilla.cfg file to change the default to yahoo search engine to google.
Browser.search.defaultenginename in comments: config already has the default value of 'google', so doesn't justing adding this line of modzilla.cfg - ' pref ("browser.search.defaultenginename", "google", as its currently by default.)

I noticed that if I manually change the search provider (thru the interface), then this value changes from 'default' to 'user set', which retains google as the default search engine. So how do I either set this value as 'user set' within mozilla.cfg, or use some alternative?

You can restore the change in Google Yahoo search engine in the Firefox 34.0.5 by enabling / disabling browser.search.isUS to false.
Note that only 34.0.5 replaces the default search by Yahoo! engine.

    //
    lockPref("browser.search.isUS", false);
