Virus detected... Is it true or BS?

I was browsing Safari when this happened. I think this is BS, but I wanted to get some other opinions.

  • Suspected false positive Virus detection

Recently I install Avira Antivirus and run a few scans in my Compaq Presario and a virus known as APPL/ACLSet is still found in the following location:

    Hewlett-Packard HP TCS\SetACL.exe C:\Program

[DETECTION] Contains the recognition of the application APPL/ACLSet model

Since it is in the HP program file I suspect it is a file that is used by HP for some purposes as update or others. So I just ignore it.

October 3, 2009, I run a scan again and this time there are more new detections in addition to the former as below:

    Hewlett-Packard HP TCS\SetACL.exe C:\Program

[DETECTION] Contains the recognition of the application APPL/ACLSet model

    C:\Program Files\Hewlett-Packard\KBD\KbdStub.exe

[DETECTION] Is the horse of Trojan TR/tr/dropper.Gen

    BEGIN scan in "D:\". »

    D:\hp\Drv\APP01300\src\KbdStub.exe

[DETECTION] Is the horse of Trojan TR/tr/dropper.Gen

End of the scan: Saturday, October 3, 2009 10:26

    Time: 01:00:06 am

While they inspected with Avira website, it is that TR | TR/dropper.Gen is a new virus detected only on October 1, 2009 and it seems to be the superior and most recent threat.

Even once since it was associated with the HP program I just ignore it for now.

Can someone give me a confirmation of 100% if these detection was just false positive or are they really malicious virus/malware? If I just ignore them or get rid of them? If I get rid of them and they turn out to be legitimate programs from HP, this will affect my PC in anyway?

    Thank you much in advance.

From a Windows 7 Ultimate PC I tried to download a PDF portfolio containing 35 PDF files. Download failed with the message "Virus detected (403), your file could not be downloaded because it contains a virus."

  • Anti-Virus detects but removes no adware/malware

    Hello

    I have a Readynas RN102 with 6.4.1. firmware. I have more installed anti-virus. Today it started to detect Adware (W32 / Adware.DEZV - 3749 or NsCPUMiner32.exe) and Bitcoinminer Trojan (W64Adware.DEZV - 3749 - NsCPUMiner64.exe). Both were hidden in a file called Info.zip.

Because I couldn't see the files in the management web page / share (even when displaying of hidden files) I changed the anti-virus more to 'Action - Delete' setting and a scheduled scan. He had tested and found the files, but in log files, he repeats that I have to delete the infected file yourself.

    Any help on:

-log file: why does not say what is it deleted the file or not

-display and by deleting files myself manually

-a specific malware / adware removal app for the ReadyNas

    Thanks in advance,

    Jan

    HA Kodhee,

Thank you. I always keep my antivirus updated. So maybe this is the reason why no virus is detected (asuming it was a false alarm as well).

I did what you suggested and selected / unselected files of several cards that were "infected" files It was an hour ago, and I don't have any message. More than my scan that I had planned this evening.

I'll keep my fingers crossed and do a final check tomorrow morning.

  • Why microsoft virus removal tool removed partially viruses detected? what needs to be done in addition to ensure that the virus detected is completely and permanently deleted

I downloaded a virus to the web site of microsoft removal tool. I did a full scan and a virus (win/32) or something of this nature has been detected. It has been partially deleted by scanning and removal of viruses microsoft tool. I need to know how to completely remove it and all other virus from my system. any help will be appreciated.

    Hello

When any antivirus program scans and removes a virus to do a reboot to completely remove it from some parts of this virus are active. Given that the virus removal tool didn't you it restart as part of its service, it can remove only inactive parts of the virus. If you run the scan in safe mode it may have deleted all the virus. Just like removing a program, uninstaller was tell you to stop and exit the program until he could remove it. When malwarebytes running, there's a step before restarting it completely removes viruses and malicious software.

Online virus removal tool is there so you can take control of the system and perform a local scan with your antivirus software.

If it helps please click, "has been that useful."

  • Multiple instances of rundll32.exe in Windows 7 Premium using all RAM - no viruses detected by MSE but PC runs slowly

Processor: AMD Athlon (TM) 9750 Quad-Core 2.40 GHz

    4,00 (3.75 usable) GB RAM

System: 64 - bit OS with Genuine Microsoft Windows 7 Premium (purchased separately with distributor online PC)

At startup, there are three instances of rundl32l.exe with no path name Image displayed in the Task Manager.

The three were separated from the PID of 1624, 1634 and 1644.

None has an associated user name.

Used private working memory is listed as 128K, 344K, 520K.

    Commit size is listed as 1, 036 K, 1 864 K and 1 940 K.

    List page 717, 1 731, and 2 044 defects

Note that the following persons have no associated user name, until I log in as an administrator:

Csrss.exe, nwsvc.exe, until I log in as an administrator, date at which all are listed as belonging to the user of the system.

There are two instances of csrss.exe after I login as an administrator to monitor the system.

Note that as soon as I open MSIE (worm: 9.0.8112.162421 64-bit Edition |) Update: 9.05 (KB2647516) | Encryption level: 256-bit)
The use of the RAM dropped to 1.04 BG of the GB available total 3.75, jumped but still once 3.14 GB and the balloons of the use of network.

as soon as I logged as administrator.  There are multiple instances open for svchost.exe attributed to the system, network and Local Service.

Since I use MacAfee and Microsoft Security Essentials and have found a problem, I wonder if there is a virus that creates multiple

run32dll.exe and this according to the capacity of detection of these two programs.

You know, it's more difficult to follow all the news - just to get a response.  I've restored as soon as possible, has got rid of the programs and the remains, then reinstalled MSE and updated, and, Yes, the computer is updated and better now with the improvement of power, video card and without an easy way to trace this information (you know a feature of Windows that would follow easily everything you ask?) - it seems a big eater of real-time , for questionable results.  I thought that Windows 7 Ultimate would have included more administration tools just to log on and view, copy, paste, rather than the back-and-forth necessary to fill out a form that is as unique as it is not shoot all the tools.  I see that much info required users, and where is the forensic tools easy to use a computer owner should have?  Malware authors certainly use them.  The average owner must be at least as good a handle on reports on what's happening, everything down to the core.

    Any tips?

  • AVG anti virus detect any ADF application as being infected

We feel something weird right now. Since some time between 21 July and 22 all versions of AVG anti-virus are detecting the ADF as being infected by a virus JS/Redir javascript libraries. I already tried to contact the AVG on the issue, but they still have to answer in return. At the moment our applications are seen by users as infected with the virus. Since our application is internet facing us cannot really control what anti virus used by our clients. AVG is a fairly popular anti virus so I do not know that some of our customers was probably hit by it.

Until someone asks even the demo hosted by Oracle to http://jdevadf.oracle.com/adf-richclient-demo/faces/index.jspx component causes AVG trigger, it is not only our application do.

Any ideas on what can be done to get AVG to fix this fast (I think Oracle could carry more weight with them so we would do).

I remember a similar question 2 or 3 years ago, where this provider software used a false positive. This issue then slipped by Oracle inform the seller of this false positive
