  This is not true.

  The %windir%\system32\spool\PRINTERS file is supposed to contain jobs waiting to be printed.  This is the print spooler.

  This suggests two things: either you have malware files in that folder (which seems unlikely), or you send print jobs to a printer to be connected to your computer, but now is not.  When you realized that a job does not print, you re - sent to the correct printer.

  In all cases, follow these steps, which will empty this folder (and make your system perform better).

  A. Clean on print jobs pending

  • Open a command prompt window (start > run > cmd > OK)
  • Type the following in the black command prompt window, and then press ENTER after each line

  net stop spooler
  del/q '% windir%\system32\spool\PRINTERS\*.* '.
  net start spooler
  output

  Once you do this, go to printers and faxes and uninstall all of the printers that you no longer need... and remember that the default printer (the one with the box) is the one which is effectively connected to the computer.

  You should be able to remove it from the command prompt in Windows Repair Mode.

  If you have all this work and you have all the files you need - completely erase the Windows.OLD folder.

  If it makes you feel better - copy the machine completely for more security instead.

  Hello! I am troubleshooting my HARD drive space. I have a 'C' HDD 16 GB with nearly 0 MB space left (fluctuates probably due to created restore points).

  In any case, I discovered that my Windows folder contains about 7.7 GB of files. (I have Win XP Home Ed, 2002, SP3 installed - with MANY updates that have been installed over the years) 7.7 GB seems a lot.  Random check on the web (not sure how reliable replica is) I see less than 2 GB is what should be there.

  I don't think that there are many 'other' stuff in there, certainly nothing that I placed there. is there a way to check / clean this folder?

  Please do not suggest to re - install Windows as the solution, since at that time, I will buy another computer first.  then put in shape this one. It is clocked at 2.66 GHz Intel Pentium, so not ready to junk food she still.

  Your list of the most fragmented files that partially reveals the magnitude of your problem. Note that the list does not display very large files that have less than 797 fragments. There are also many small and medium-sizes of the files fragmented with less than 797 fragments. A notable omission in your list, this is the System Volume Information folder. I can't believe that it is not fragmented, she must be on this part of the list is not displayed.

  To defragment by using with Windows XP Disk Defragmenter, you need a bit less 15%. Defraggler is my favorite Defragmenter, but I doubt that it will succeed on your C partition.   You cannot compact Outlook pst files and archives, except those who created versions of Outlook prior to Outlook 2003. You can empty deleted item folder and you must first check that it is empty. I would then back up your Outlook Archives on an external drive or flash before attempting to move the locations of archive. Once you have moved the archive folders successfully I would then move messages from your current folders to the archive folders. If you archive the current materials first of all you have more to lose if the process of change the default location of the folder goes awry. Then, you can archive your current messages and change the default location of the current file. You can move messages current return from archives as a last step if you feel the need to do so.

  I copied a few instructions from an external source on how to change the default locations. I hope you find these useful.

  To change the location of database of Microsoft Outlook, the OUTLOOK file. PST is to be moved. • HP Split x 2: not enough space for the Windows 10 update

  I have a Split of HP x 2 (64 GB SSD, drive hard 500 GB) running Windows 10.  I recently received notification of an update of Windows 10 version 1511, 10586.  Trying to install the update, I get an error message saying that Windows needs more space on C:, specifically 8.13 additional GB.

  Settings Windows reports 58.9 gb of 59.2 GB already used on C: which is 47.2 GB ' system and reserved.

  The update program says that I can use another drive for the update and I tried the built in D: (more than 200 GB free) and an external drive (900 GB free), but the update will fail with the same message outside a slight reduction in the amount required on C: (7.17 GB) of free space.

  I had already cleaned useless all the files using the Windows disk clean and have less than 6 GB in applications and data, in order to get rid of everything that would still runs.

  All GB 47.2 OS is really necessary?  Any large pieces I can get rid of, or is the only way an SSD upgrade?

  Only in the last day or two, MS has eliminated a new update of Win10 who, claim, addresses the problems of people said that they do not have enough disk space for the Nov 10 update and when they provide you with an external hard drive, it will not use it.

  I suggest that you are looking for updates and see if it is applied and then retry the update 10 Nov.

  The "sudo" commands will prompt to enter your password, and there do not appear to come back. You can also see caution against improper use 'sudo' and the potential loss of data due to an "abuse" of the order.
