Vision information

I'm not very experienced in labview, andI use OCR with vision assistant.

I would like to know if anyone could tell me what is the threshold, and why I have to train the wizard of vision with characters that the database has already, when I move the object more away from the camera?

Thanks in advance!

An 8-bit grayscale image will have values from 0 to 255. 0 is black and 255 is white. By threshold that you set a range whose pixel values that you want to use it for further processing. If you just want to get bright and close to white values pixel then your amplifiers values will be something like 200 - min and max 255.

    Hello Al-Zahrani,

Bruce is correct.  Need you a license to run NI Vision on the target computer, given that your application uses the functions of the Vision Development Module.  I recommend you take a look at our section of the knowledge base on the National Instruments Vision software licenses.  For more information on prices, I recommend looking at the product page NI Vision Development Module , specifically the "related software add-ons" at the bottom of the pricing tab that lists the price for the NI Vision run-time license.

  • Send variable vision to the NXT brick manufacturer

    Hello

I have a color sorting machine controlled by a Mindstorms NXT brick. I think that Labview has a module to communicate with the Lego brick, but I was wondering if the Vision Builder (that we currently use for another application) may also communicate with the brick (we do not have LabVIEW). In the end, after insecting of the object with Vision Builder, I would like to send a variable (depending on the inspection) to the mailbox NXT, preferably via usb or BT, which could serve as a motor for the servo drive. If there is no such communication module, is there a code that I could insert in the program of Vision Builder that allow such communication?

OK, just in case someone needs another solution to this, I was able to find a workaround (without the need to install LV). I use a bridge of communication who listen to orders received on the TCP/IP Protocol (available in Vision Builder) and transmits on the NXT (USB or BT) brick. You can find more information about it on the Mindstoms Page Anders. If you have problems with the software, feel free to reach out to the author - he is a great guy and an amazing developer!

  • Version of LabVIEW for Vision Builder AI 2012 plugins

    Hi all

II was a little challenging to find out what version of LabVIEW has been necessary to develop customized Vision Builder AI 2012 plugins, I found it by starting the installer, LabVIEW 2011 (but I wish I could find this information in the Readme of Vision Builder AI 2012).

Now my question is: is it possible to use LabVIEW 2011 SP1 to develop plugins for Vision Builder AI 2012?

Right... I tried, I installed all versions VBAI and LabVIEW, I could.

I turns out LV 2011 sp1 is just an update of 2011 and so LV2011 SP1 can be used to develop customized Vision Builder AI 2012 plugins.

  • IMAQ vs NI Vision

Hello...  First of all a question about IMAQ...  I've seen many examples of LabVIEW which includes IMAQ VI...  What is necessary to own or buy to access these IMAQ vi?  Second, what is IMAQ versus NI Vision?  NEITHER Vision a more recent name for what was IMAQ or is it something else entirely?

I have a Developer Suite license and thanks to that I have many versions of LabVIEW Professional Developer Suite (PDS) LabVIEW through LabVIEW 2011 7 (does not have 2012).  But I don't have any specific modules vision/image...  All I really want to do is open a specific. TIF image and view this image on a LabVIEW front panel led.  Short of owning any IMAQ or NI Vision vi, made the main PDS provides the tools I need to do this simple task?

And again, I'm lost in the word soup.  What is IMAQ as compared or contrasted with NI Vision?

    Thanks bob...

    Hello Bob,

There is a lot of information to analyze through this question, let thus starts at the top.

NEITHER Vision is the platform of any vision that NEITHER has to offer. This can be broken down into two basic categories; Hardware and software. Hardware includes our smart cameras, Vision systems shipped, Frame Grabber cards (PCI, PXI, PCIe, SMU) and other material. The software can be decomposed into Vision Development Module (VDM) and the Vision Builder for Automated Inspection (VBAI). Sorry to throw in acronyms, but it will save some typing over the long term.

Vision Development Module, is the great global toolkit for LabVIEW Vision applications. The Vision Development Module includes several pieces of small software. These software include Machine Vision algorithms and several other pallets of treatment as well as the software of Acquisition Vision (SAV), which can be broken down into three additional parts. Here's where we come to the VI IMAQ, Vision Acquisition Software includes IMAQ IMAQ i/o and IMAQdx. IMAQ and IMAQ i/o are free software, and IMAQdx isn't.

    Here's a quick preview

    OR Vision

    • Hardware solutions
      • Smart cameras
      • Embedded Vision systems
      • PC and PXI systems
    • Software
      • Vision Builder for Automated Inspection
      • Vision Development module
        • Machine Vision algorithms
        • VI image treatment
        • Vision acquisition software
          • IMAQ (free)
          • IMAQ i/o (free)
          • IMAQdx (paid)

Now, as for your specific application the Vision Development Module is not included in the Suite of developers at least that specifically added to your package. However, you will be able to acquire and save an image with the base IMAQ VI.

IMAQ means Acquisition of Image and is a driver package for communications standards of different camera as well as several basic image manipulations. With the free IMAQ driver, you will have access to the VI listed in the knowledge base following.

The screws are installed with NOR-IMAQ and Acquisition of Vision Software?

    http://digital.NI.com/public.nsf/allkb/1c4ed6177ee566d68625794a007ba160?OpenDocument

You can download the latest version of IMAQ here:

    http://Joule.NI.com/nidu/CDs/view/p/ID/2758/lang/en

Alternatively, you can download a trial version of the software for Acquisition of Vision and then allow the functions of IMAQdx paid become invalid at the end of the trial period.

    http://sine.NI.com/NIPs/CDs/view/p/lang/en/NID/12892

Once you have the IMAQ VI installed you should be able to open the. TIF file and display it using the ReadFile.VI IMAQ and an indicator of the image.

I hope that clarifies the differences of our Vision, and how you can access to the. TIF file.

    See you soon,.

  • using vision screws of the earlier version of VDM

I need to support applications that have LV2010 with the Vision Development Module 2010 while my development PC a VDM, 2012.  The VDM developers are frequently new versions of IMAQ functions AND for some reason, changing the name of the function.  For example, this new version of VDM has a 2 excerpt from IMAQ instead of extract IMAQ.  Why change the name of this function?  It causes headaches for those like me who support several versions of LV and VDM because as much as I know, NEITHER did not leave the old IMAQ extract to a folder of compatibility where necessary.

In retrospect, I probably shouldn't have left the VDM 2012 updated 2010 LV Installer (I think it may have been an option to turn that off, I'm not sure), but at this point, except a bunch of UN-installing and installation, is it possible easy for me to bring back some functions of VDM 2010 as IMAQ extracted to my installation of LV2010?

    Hello DrMike,

Please use our forums. I can certainly understand the frustration with these changes, especially when it comes to support and use several versions.

The good news is that you can indeed find and use these previous functions. They are just hidden in the palette of functions, but can easily be accessed and used by entering the library of Vision and access to libraries of .llb. Please refer to this article in the knowledge base for more information on the location of the functions.

Your desired function will be located in C:\Program NIUninstaller Instruments\LabVIEW xx\vi.lib\vision\Image Manipulation.llb

Where xx represents the version number of LabVIEW

  • Result variation and inconsistency Ni Vision Builder AI

I am currently using OR Vision Builder HAVE (2012) to analyze a series of images, and the preparation of appropriate inspections, I noticed that the results are not reproducible.  I am currently using various measures of analysis such as the color of the measure, number of pixels and the strength of edge and using the data logging feature.  The problem is that if I double-click on a stage as if to change, click on transfer to the next image, without changing anything, click OK, and then run all the tests again, I get different results.

For things like the number of pixels that is relatively small - anywhere.0001 about 3 when it comes to figures around 200, but for the strength of edge especially these range from 10-20 at a time and sometimes he could find even an advantage that is then seen in over 40 years (and the edge resistance threshold is well below this value).  If this is inevitable then I can run many tests and average results, but it will be a lot of time because it also involves the steps wrong edition.

Mainly, I would like to know if it is common and expected and if there is a known percentage error, or maybe I can change the configuration of the program in an attempt to overcome the problem?

    Thank you!

The good news is that we have found what is the problem. When you change a step that uses a coordinate system and the current image is not the same as that used during the stage was originally set, the return on investment is transformed to the new position and step updates the settings used for this new position, when you press OK. Rounded the errors that occur when the transformed KING is caluclated, the new system of basic contact information you may not in the same positions of the KING. Kings use integers and therefore round us to the nearest integer, but it does not exactly the same positions as the coordinate system original base product. This may cause the new coordinate system of the step being out of up to 1 pixel and causes the return on investment deal with a slightly different part of the image

For a given inspection/images, the results will not change unless you change the step that's important.

If you change a step, but do not want to make changes, press Cancel instead of OK, and all settings will be the same.

We will study a real fix for this problem that involves only update the coordinate system basis when the user redraws the return on investment, but the bad news is that this correction will not be in the version of Vision Builder AI we are about to go out.

I'm sorry for this gap, and we plan to address in the future.

    Thank you

    Brad

  • Get the width/height of the current image / information of KING of user input

    Hello

    I have two problems:

    First of all:

Y at - it an option to get the width and height of the image to use for calculations or set a return on investment for the right settings?

    Second (more complicated):

I have used Labview 8.5 custom interface (see the interface.jpg attachment).

I am trying to get the return on investment of the Interface and use it in my app Builder of Vision, but I don't see the return on investment or its size or position or something...

Is it possible to get this information from the Interface?

    Information:

    I use Vision Builder 2009 SP1, LabVIEW 8.5

    Thanks for your replies!

    Hello

I missed that when I tested it... the display image control must have been larger than the size of the image and the property node returned the value that I expected.

A restriction of the VI to Interface custom that you create in LabVIEW, is that it cannot have any dependencies (call any subgroup screws), other than the methods and the nodes property of the objects you put on. Therefore, I can't just call IMAQ GetImageSize her. So it does not seem possible at this point for the VI of custom Interface return the size of the image.

The solution, at this stage, to get the size of the image of the Interior Vision Builder AI, is to use a step in LabVIEW Run, calling a simple VI that takes an image as input, called IMAQ GetImageSize and return res X and Y.

Note that for purposes of distribution, when you call a VI using a LabVIEW execution step, you must save it as a source distribution in a Bachelor's degree in LAW and you must redistribute this llb with your inspection. See using setup step run LabVIEW for more details.

Sorry there is no better way to do this now.

    Best regards

    Christophe

  • How can I move an image with info vision?

    Hello

I'm trying to move an image that has been saved as .png with info vision. This image I would change in x / y pixels. If I do, I get a

blank image back, even I copied all the info of the image in advance.

If I use any other image without info vision that it works without problems so far. Anyone know how I can fix this problem?

    Thanks in advance

The Shift IMAQ function does not read the header information and don't know your reticle.  You can add header information to the image by using the merge feature overlay IMAQ as shown in my picture as an attachment and function Shift IMAQ will actually see these data.
