If Windows Update error 80072ee2 during updates, you may need to add the addresses of websites which Windows Update downloads updates to the exceptions to your firewall or 'green list '.

To add the Windows Update Web sites to a firewall exceptions list

    • Windows Firewall ships with this version of Windows and should already include these sites in the exceptions list. If you are using another firewall, see Help for the software publisher to see how to add these websites to your firewall exceptions list:

I was check updates leaving work for a few hours and it does not find all that it just keeps check found nothing. There is no error message it is just stuck updates. • Vista Pack 2 will not update stays at 0

I have problems with Windows update. WINDOWS VISTA HOME BASIC SERVICE PACK 2.  When I click to download, the download of updates window opens but it stays on 0 and the little green line moves very slowly. Nothing it downloads just rest to 0. I tried these suggestions from the Community Forums http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/windows_other-update/error-code-80246005/94a9434b-948c-4183-986e-ddf062724ae7?page=2&auth=1

    1.

"C:\Windows\System32" and then find the folder 'catroot2' and just right click and go to properties and there you will see that the matter is "write-protected" to everything that you need to do is take this clear! When I went there the read only box was not checked, but it was lit in blue. He said read only (applies only to files in folders), I tried to disable the checkbox, but I still couldn't download updates. When I checked back just filled blue box.

    2.

System and Maintenance > administrative tools > Services > Windows Update > restart.

I struggled with that. I got a message saying it could not stop in a timely manner. Then, there was no option to restart so I restarted the computer and then restart update was available so I clicked it.

    3.

    Cryptographic Services > restart

    Click on restart

    Still no go

    Thank you for reading this.

Well, I have solved my problem. I am a person very not techno, but I wear what I did in case it can help others. I had my windows, the value of the manual update. I switched it to auto update and wham, when I hit the button in the Windows Update window, download started! Not sure if it was to be on automatic, or just the switch from one to the other has made the round. Who knows, computers are the ultimate mystery. I went to control panel > Security Center > and passed to the automatic update.

  • Windows will not update, repair corrupted files, refresh or reset. What I'm doing.

Heyo. Im running windows 8, with about 2000 (I think) corrupted files that it contains. /sfc scannow does not fix any of them. /DISM / /restorehealth/cleanup-image online doesn't solve all these either. I can't update or repair my laptop due to files is corrupt, and all updates (about 52 GB worth of updates accumulate) do not install. I need to solve this problem, because I want to sell this laptop, it is in perfect condition except for these problems. I tried hundreds of ways to solve this problem, and none of them worked. Even tried installing the trial evaluation copy Windows 8.1 to reset my pc, but not even that would install. IM in need you guys. I'd love any help that I can get and will be willing to give something (other than money) if requested :)

Laptop comes with windows pre-installed 8. Need update windows 8.1 update, but it does not.

    Thanks in advance.

Seems to me that your best bet is to contact your computer support and request a set of Recovery Disks.Note that there is usually a small fee for these expenses. Hope this helps and if you need another post to help and we will be happy to help you.

  • My windows will not update. It indicates that the service is not running.

Updated Windows cannot currently check the updates because the service is not running.

    Click Start
Type: CMD, according to the results, right-click CMD
    Click on "Run as Administrator"
At the command prompt, type: sfc/scannow

This will check for any breach of integrity

    Hi Dhirasantadasa,

Thanks for posting on the Forum of answers.

Try the location in the Microsoft Download Center and download and install it from there.

If failure repeated, trying to get the update in Mode safe mode with network by following these steps:

    1. remove all floppy disks, CDs and DVDs from your computer and restart your computer.

    2. click on the Start button, click the arrow next to the button lock and then click restart.

    3. do one of the following:

    ·         If your computer has a single operating system installed, press and hold the F8 key as your computer restarts. You need to press F8 before the Windows logo appears. If the Windows logo appears, you need to try again by waiting until the Windows logon prompt appears, and then stop and restart your computer.

    ·         If your computer has more than one operating system, use the arrow keys to select the operating system you want to start in safe mode, and then press F8.

    4. in the display Advanced Startup Options , use the arrow keys to select Safe Mode with network, press enter

5 sign in your computer with a user account with administrator rights.

  • You had to do a system restore, now my windows will not update

I had problems with the 10 of Windows Update causing a blue error screen permanently.  I tried to do a "reboot of the PC" to correct the error and it would not be completed even when left for 2 days.  I finally had to restart my computer and press f8 to not get stuck in the Windows Update screen.  With no system and no other available option, it was suggested to me to do a restore of complete factory restore points.

I did the restore and now I have even more questions.  My windows update does not work, I update of windows troubleshooting, but it does not work and my computer says always "looking for updates" and updates are never downloaded.

My fan is running continuously since I did the restore to factory, and my CPU usage is 75 to 90%, even if I did not open any programs.  Norton told me that Microsoft is responsible for the high CPU usage, but I don't know what to do about it, because I obviously don't want to disable Microsoft.  I'm not sure how to upgrade my Windows at 10, or if I'm still able to now...  Which sucks since I had to do due to the problems caused by Windows 10 programming initially.

Another update of the issues, I got zero problem with a feature of my computer before resetting.  Any help you could give me would be greatly appreciated.

My computer is a HP Pavilion g7-1320dx laptop, and bought in 2011.  Please don't tell me to get a new computer... It's definitely a software problem.
