  Yesterday, I downloaded a 'update important"that was a Vista Service Pack, do not know if it was 1 or 2.  After having downloaded this my computer gave me an error code! 0xc01a001d! 28599/90454 (data \Registry\Machine\components\derived...).  Then tried to go into safe mode, I get an error code * STOP: 0 x 00000079 (0x0000007c, 0 x 00000003, 0 x 00000000, 0 x 00000006) with a blue screen.  I've read that I must redownload Vista on my computer, but I do not have the recovery disks, they did not come with my computer which is a HP Pavilion Slimline PC.  If there is someone out there who can help me to recover my computer running I would really appreciate it.  I am self-employed and need my PC that has my software of management of contacts on this subject, which is essential for my business.

  Contact your computer manufacturer and ask them to send a recovery disk/s Vista set.

  Plug a Flash Drive/Memory Stick, BOOT with the Live CD, and you should be able to read the hard drive.

  When the desktop loads, you will see at least two drive hard icons on the desktop (one for your hard drive) and one for the USB key.

  Click on the icons of hard drive to open and to understand which drive is which.

  Click the icon for the USB drive and click on "Actions > Change the read/write mode" so you can write to disk (it is read-only by default for security reasons).

  Now to find the files you want to back up, just drag and drop them on the USB. When you're done, shut down the system and remove the USB key.

• Vista Service Pack 1 update fails - computer will not start and cannot be repaired

  The computer which is an Acer desktop computer, running Windows Vista Premium.  In the last 6 months updated Vista tried Service Pack 1 update to install Vista about 8 times and failed every time a reason any.  Just before this latest incident, a facility was "cancelled" in the Middle for some reason any.  I restarted the computer and almost immediately was advised that there is an update, which turned out be SP-1.

  I started the update, and some time later I received a message that the update was successful, and that he had to be restarted the computer.  I clicked on the button restart and the Installation continues during the shutdown.

  When the computer tried to restart initialization failed and I ended up after several lines of information that looked as if it might be checking drivers and then information began to look as if she might be reading the register lines.  Each line has 2 numbers separated by a slash (/), who scored on a single line at the top of the screen, (white letters on black background) after a certain time the count to stop with the line of text of flickering on the same entry.

• Updated my computer to Windows Vista Service pack 2 for x 64 function foires systems

  Okay, so I have recently updated this Windows Vista Service pack 2 for x 64-based systems.

  After the update and restarting, I connected only to find myself staring at a blank white screen. However, I managed to hit the keys ctrl + alt + delete and go to the Task Manager to launch explorer.exe through the "new task...". ' button.

  This brings me to my normal desktop, but none to start startup programs and CPU usage is 100% which makes the performance of my laptop more slow.

  Sometimes I try to restart the laptop and it starts normally after the connection, but that happens only about 15% or less of the time.

  Is there a way I could resolve this problem and I function normally again?

  You can try a system restore by booting from the Windows Vista disc. Will need you the Windows Vista disc to do an offline system restore.   Another way to look at this question is to get information of the event viewer on the failure that occurred.  To review event viewer / click on the ORB Start / computer right click / Select manage / select event viewer.

  Find the information in Event Viewer on the failure of the update installation and provide this information on the forum.  As well as if there is an error, you receive what it is and ID # is.

  Safety Note: always have on hand a good backup before you start any installs/updates/or diagnosis of troubleshooting.

• Impossible to install Vista Service Pack 1

  Hello. I have tried everywhere looking for a solution but does. My computer will not install Windows Vista Service Pack 1. I don't get the error messages. I click Download and install via Windows Update. To install the service pack. I am asked that it can take an hour or more. Then I have to click on the acceptance contract. After clicking on these screens, a new windows update screen pops up saying update installed successfully. Said the same thing in my history of update. After windows update closing and reopening, Windows Vista Service Pack 1 is back to the list of updates to install. This happens every time. The system makes no effort to install the update and doesn't give any error message.

  I tried to start in safe mode, but it still didn't install. Reinstalling Windows is not an option, because other users of this computer would be panic. I defragmented the hardrive and did an error check. Also ran CCleaner and one analyzing antivirus and ad-ware/malware. Nothing works. I know a lot about computers, but this one me stem.

  I also tried update readiness tool. Someone suggested that to me. A took about 25 minutes to install. He then said 'Installation '. I liquidated it and tried the service pack. Still a no go. So I rebooted the system and tried to install it then. It has not yet installed. I don't really know what did Update Readiness Tool.

  I also tried to install the stand-alone version. He has not installed and said that Windows update has encountered an unknown error. This is the version of 5 language pack.
