  • Wget and Vista Task Scheduler

    First post on this forum.

I am implementing a task in Vista Task Scheduler to download a mirrored to an FTP site using wget.

Now, I installed wget and execute the following at the command prompt:

    wget ftp://myUid: * e-mail address is removed from the privacy * m

The site files are downloaded successfully to the location where the command line starts (C:\Users\MyName).

However, nothing happens when I try to run as a scheduled task:
    Action: start a program
    Program/Script: C:\Windows\System32\cmd.exe
    Arguments: /c "wget ftp://myUid: * e-mail address is removed from the privacy * m.

Or it works with the following argument:

    Arguments: / c "F:\path\to\file\scheduled_backup_cmd.bat".

The last execution result is always 0 x 1, which means as far as I KNOW, the task completed successfully, but I don't see all the files downloaded on C:\Users\MyName.

What I am doing wrong? Any comments much appreciated.

    A.Fraile,
If your script does not work, it is fair to task scheduler does not work properly, try this link that explains the new functions / commands in the Task Scheduler Vista which is different from that of previous versions of Windows:

    Hello

Scheduler of tasks is time driven.

For order-driven event, you need a script.

Question like that is much better treated in the TechNet IT Pro Forums.

  • Vista Task Scheduler - task image is corrupt or has been tampered with.

I have a whole series of these messages everytime I open Task Scheduler.  More precisely:. AD RMS rights policy templates (manual) management. AD RMS rights policy templates management (automated). SystemTask. Microsoft-Windows-DiskDiagnosticResolver. Microsoft-Windows-DiskDiagnosticDataCollector. TMM, LPRemove. NAPStatus user interface. ConvertLogEntries. RACAgent. WSHReset, and ScheduledDefrag.  The problem started after I did a Vista repair install to solve a problem of Windows Update.  I tried setting SceduledDefrag, but apparently did not get it quite right since now my computer wakes up from hibernation and runs, she was much more often than it should it work as expected.  I could easily fix the problem if I could find a complete list of the tasks that Vista installs as default values (i.e. the conditions, the name of programs run, etc. for each installed task so I could remove the damaged copy and re-program the originals). or, better yet, a copy of the uncorruped file task I could download and install.

    Hey someotherguy_812,

Because I don't know what programs they work with and without having to look at the computer, it is difficult for me to give you a direct answer. But I can provide resources that seem they could be very useful:
First of all, this article describes the tasks scheduled in a default installation of Windows Vista. so we must do well in giving you an overview
In addition, if you use the quick order to schedule these tasks, this article should be good reading. It covers files damaged during the event planning.
I hope that it allows to get to the answer you're looking for. If you still want to post what you have learned, we would be happy to keep trying until we have solve it for you.
    Thank you!
  • Is it possible to rename an existing task in Windows Vista Task Scheduler Library, in the computer management console?

The 'Name' field seems to be greyed out on existing tasks, even if the other attributes of these tasks can be changed.

    Hi Casey,.

Thanks for posting the question on the Microsoft Community Forum.

Want to know how to rename a task into task schedular, I suggest that you try the steps mentioned below.

    a. in the Task Scheduler, highlight the task in question.

    b. click on export and choose a location to save the file (office is as good a place as any).

    c. click Save.

    d. in Windows Explorer, navigate to the location where you saved the file.

    e. you can then rename it as usual. Back in the Task Scheduler, click the import job.

    f. navigate to the renamed file.

    g. click OK.

    h. now highlight the original task (do not forget that there are now 2 tasks, one with the original)

name and one with the new name), then click on remove.

Hope the helps of the steps.

  • Task Scheduler: run as the user who just logged?

I'm trying to implement a task in Vista Task Scheduler, and I want a task to run after a user connects (easy enough) and run as one coming from connect - that is to say use the user account of the person who just logged on, not a specific predefined user account.

    Can I do this?
I want to do this is because I want to send a notification that "user X comes to connect."  I'm trying to get the information of the user for example 'whoami' or username, but if the task is scheduled to be executed by using a predefined user account, then you get just the username of this user account preset, not the user name of the user who just logged.
    Any ideas?
    Thank you.

    Hi drmrbrewer,.

For your information; It is not possible to schedule a task to send a notification on the connection to the account through Windows Task Scheduler.

Everything remains that I went alone, without anything change it. So, I disconnected and reconnected again to see if wmp would open by itself at startup. There can be no. Any ideas?

  • Task Scheduler: how to automatically sync my USB?

I've known the right settings to synchronize automatically my USB flash drive with the files on my computer, but I forgot. I use a synchronization and backup program called ´SyncBack´. It works fine, but I want it to run automatically whenever I put in my USB flash drive.

I know not how to use Task Scheduler,
I know what it takes to fill under the ´Actions´ (namely, I tell the Planner what program to run with command)
But I Don t know what to fill under the ´Triggers´. I want she runs whenever I put in a USB drive. In my memory, he had something to do with ´event id´... and I had the name of my USB.

  • Task Scheduler: repeat / duration does not work

    Hello

    On Windows Vista Business SP1.

Create a task in Task Scheduler to run every day, repeat every hour, for a period of 12 hours. It runs * every * hours (i.e. throughout the entire day).

Google search (or I'd be Binging?) the issue seems, several people have reported a similar thing, but I can't find a solution or a fix.

Does anyone know if there is a fix or if there is something in SP2 on this subject.

I had heard talk about Vista was a bunch of you-know-what, but I can't believe that something as simple as this does not work.

Does anyone have / heard of a fix or a workaround (which is not "change the task that you run to check the time and leave... If I wanted to write my own Planner...!)

    Thank you.

    Hello

    Added Scheduled tasks are

"C:\Windows\Tasks" where C: is the drive where Windows resides.

You shouldn't have to deal with tasks that have been added to the default Windows ones.

Tasks need to be added and removed in the Task Scheduler, although the backup registry
using Restore Points create should work. This is because each is assigned a SID.

In the register of scheduled tasks (added) are located in

    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Schedule

and several subkeys of this key.

    ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I'd do that for eliminating corruption is at least a partial cause of the problem.

1 follow these steps to remove corruption and missing/damaged file system repair or replacement.

  • What happens when Task Scheduler is scheduled to wake the computer from sleep mode

I have the windows vista Task Scheduler to wake the computer from sleep to run a command script. some tasks in the script work correctly and some do not. This is because the computer is "awake from sleep", whatever that means. This is not what is happening, because the tasks that the batch script runs when the computer is actually on, with display and all are very different tasks, it runs while the computer gets "awakened from his sleep", so what happens exactly when the task schedler wakes up the computer of mode sleep under vista? How is it possible to emulate a real awake state with the Task Scheduler to a State of sleep, according to a schedule?

Hello. I am running Vista Home Basic. I'm trying to back up my files, but get an error stating that "the Task Scheduler service seems not be started. Please start the Task Scheduler service and try again. "I don't know what that means and I couldn't save my files before. Do you know how I can fix this problem? Thank you

    Hi MK_806,

You can try to scan the file system [SFC] checker on the computer that will replace missing or corrupt files & check if the problem persists.

For more information, you can consult the following link.

Check if there is information in Event Viewer which may help us to solve the problem:

What are the information contained in the logs of the event (Event Viewer)?
