Vista Ultimate, mac, boot camp and VMware Fusion

Just installed VMware Fusion 2.0 and pulled on my Boot Camp Partition. Vista looks good as a virtual machine, but told me that must be activated and that the product key is already in use. It is a commercial version of Vista and is only installed on the boot camp partition. VMWare support site was not very useful. Any thoughts?

Hello, Greg Bazhaw,.

Thank you for using the Microsoft Answers forum.  I've heard of virtual systems having this problem, you must activate Windows.

To open Activation of Windows by clicking on the Start button, clicking computer, clicking Properties, and then click on click here to activate Windows now. If you are prompted for an administrator password or a confirmation, type the password or provide confirmation.

Thank you for using answers Forum. Please let us know how it works.

Is it possible to use the same KEY CD Windows 7 Ultimate (64 bit) on installing native boot camp and VMware Fusion (2.0/3.0) installation?  After all, it is at the same time on the same real hardware.  Or do I have to buy two copies of Windows 7 ultimate (64 bit)?

Yes, no problems at all doing.

It therefore automatically appears in library of virtual machine window when you start merging.  Simply click on 'play' next to the thumbnail of BootCamp, it will start, Fusion will prepare to work in a virtual machine.

She might want to turn on again, but you should only do this once for BootCamp and once in the merger. (Windows detects a hardware change and think that you take the hard drive to a new computer)

Apple only supports Windows XP and Vista under Boot Camp and in turn VMware support that that Apple supports.  That said implementation of VMware Boot Camp market partition a Virtual Machine is wrong and can be problematic, because Apple does not guarantee the name of BSD to a Volume and VMware does not explain this and that has its own set of issues and has been covered before in this forum, so I will not repeat.  Now, that said if you really want to try to virtualize a training Camp does not support configuration you can try creating a Virtual Machine around him by using a raw disk, and this can be done with vmware-rawdiskcreator, so take a look at my answers in hard drive not found as a reference to the use of vmware-rawdiskcreator.

Also by default on a normal Boot Camp partition Fusion Virtual Machine cannot interrupt / Snapshot Boot Camp partition Virtual Machine and I do not know the parameters of Fusion 2.x to add Virtual Machines to the .vmx config file when manually creating a Machine virtual Boot Camp partition and warns the user if you Suspend or instant Boot Camp created manually partition the Virtual Machine and then run it natively you can potentially damage is beyond repair.

Now you really want to take any chances, virtualization of an operating system not supported on the Boot Camp partition with a product that does not even support an OS supported properly under the current circumstances?

Yes, you must purchase a full license for the second installation of Windows 7 product key.  1 activation allows only one Windows 7 product key.  Apparently, you now have a second facility that requires a second product key. Carey Frisch

  • iMac 2015 Unable to Boot Camp and Windows Installer

I've been back and forth with a Service guy to customers by phone, but thought I'd throw so the question in the case to see if there were others who have experienced similar problems and might be able to help.

I have an iMac, retina 5K, 27 - in, end of 2014. It allows to launch the Boot Camp with Windows 8.1, which I put in place about 1 year ago. It worked very well. But then, I decided to try to upgrade to Windows 10 about 3 weeks, which is not well. Decided to erase the partition via the wizard Boot Camp and re - install from scratch.

Now, I can not install Windows at all. I've tried everything. Using another ISO downloaded from the Windows website. Check disks using first aid. Last night I even totally erased the readers (via the terminal in recovery mode, with the help of the man of CS) and made a "Reinstall internet" of the operating system and then tried in boot camp. Without success.

I tried to call Microsoft too, but their position on the whole thing is "this is on a Mac, this is the problem to Apple. Bye. »

Appearances, Assistant Boot Camp is successfully created a partition. The system resets the Windows installation each time and I spend the flow rate of the installation until I get to the section "where you want to install Windows? I select my Bootcamp partition, format and then click Next. That's when I get the error message "we could not create a new partition or locate an existing one. For more information, see the Setup logs files. »

If I quit the installer and restart on the side OSX, I see that the new partitions is to Windows NTFS, so it seems ok. I am completely puzzled and frustrated as * at this stage.

    Any thoughts? Ideas? Help? Please?

  • Windows 7 Boot Camp and the MacBook Pro clocks sync error

    I have a dual boot MBPro (13-inch, mid-2012, non-retine) running El Capitan.

I installed Windows 7 32-bit, using Boot Camp, and everything works fine except there is a problem with the time.

Whenever I passes from Mac OS to Windows 7 & vice versa the time is displayed incorrectly.

    not connected to the internet.

While I'm online things are fine clocks updated subsequently.

Ago a separate 05:30 hour on both partitions difference.

I was looking at the internet, seeking to solve this problem and suggested this solution:

    Launch regedit.exe.
    Navigate to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\TimeZoneInformation.
Right-click anywhere in the right pane & hit NEW > DWORD (32 bit) value.

Name RealTimeIsUniversal, and then double-click top & him give a value of 1.

Then, reboot to OS X and reboot in Windows. Now, this will result in a correct display of the time.

I'm not used to these changes, so before the well proceeding to be sure if this is a permanent, secure

solution OR is there something else that needs to be done?

    Thank you!

  • Can I migrate existing Win7 Pro VM since the VCenter for MAC OSx 10 using the Migration Assistant from PC and VMWare Fusion 4.0 and

I have a P2V to ESX virtual Center successful and is not passed to my MACBook Air with Lion 10 and using VMWARE Fusion 4.0?

I keep getting errors of failure while trying to use the PC Migration Assistant within the virtual machine and the MAC is using the Migration Wizard in the Fusion 4.0 and MAC begins the process, it keeps saying that it is impossible to write the file to the folder I chose on the local Documents of the MAC hard drive.

Please inform, all the firewall settings are disabled on both sides, and file sharing is enabled on the MAC, including Windows SMB for the profile folder / I am tempted to write to...

Simply copy the vmx and vmdk of this virtual machine via scp or any equivalent to the mac

  • Boot Camp and Fusion

I guess that there was a ton of discussion on this site and the discussion forums of Apple on the subject to perform the merge within the OSX or not or use it via Boot Camp. My current setup is to use Fusion to run Windows XP via Boot Camp. Honestly, I found nothing offensive about it because it allows me the opportunity to start XP in its native form using Boot Camp/Option key on start up if I don't want to have OSX running at all.

My thought skewers leaving this alone and not create a 'folder' with Windows XP in OSX?

  • Cannot recreate the Boot Camp Volume in Fusion 6

I have been successfully using Fusion 5 with Bootcamp since it was released. I upgraded to 6 today and he has me remove my VMWare Bootcamp file and recreate it. When I go to recreate, on the screen "Select a Boot Camp Volume" the BOOTCAMP drive icon has an icon warning then to him with the text "If another virtual machine using the disk, it must be first turned off." No virtual machines are running, and I restarted my Mac. I can't past the screen... If I select the volume and the option 'create a Boot Camp Virtual Machine' the button continue rest grey.

FYI, I had this same problem. I have Paragon NTFS driver installed on my system and it was interfering with power recreate the machine virtual boot camp. I fixed it by going to system preferences, select NTFS for Mac and clicking on the box to turn the Paragon NTFS, rebooted and VMware allowed me to do a boot camp virtual machine. Hope that helps.

  • Is it possible to remote access to my Mac Boot Camp partition?

I know this may sound stupid, because my Mac partition is offline due to Boot Camp, but I just wanted to know if it was possible to remote access and open terminal applications / mac from my Mac at a training Camp. I don't mean for the use of Google Drive either. Looking something like a reversal Parallels/VMware.

    Hope that explains it.

Too bad. I found a solution. Used Paragon Software HFS + to access and modify the shared files of Mac in Bootcamp.
