Vmci using api with vmware server

Hello world

I use vmware server 2.0.2 and I would like to share memory between the host and the virtual system. So, I found an API called VMCI which is available in the 2.0 Server (and Workstation 6.5).

But I have not found the two sample applications provided (usr/share/doc/vmware/vmware-vmci/samples/or C:\Program Tools\VMCI\SampleApplications\README from VMware).

Can you tell me where I can get these please the sample?

Thank you. ARM

I'm not I'm sorry, but that doesn't mean there is not No. You can get more hits if you post in the developer communities. Host communications direct comments any is generally deprecated for security reasons, it is probably why there are not many, if any, API in this area.

is it possible to install the latest version of vmware workstation (I guess that's 6.5) in a machine where vmware server 2.0 is already installed? where possible there at - it something I should know before installing vmware workstation (eg. problems known, network suspends etc.)? in particual I am a little concerned network mangement (eg. both vmware server and vmware workstation in fact add virtaul adapters: is a possible trouble caouse?). The host of the virtual machine is vista ultimate x 64 with 8gig of ram and a quad core cpu.

I did a little research, and from what I understand, this was not possible with vmware server 1.0 x.. as the situation has changed with vmware server 2.0?

(in case you are wondering why I sholud be willing to do):

I worked with vm ware Server 2.0 for about a year, but now I miss some of the features that are only present in vmware workstation: multiple snapshot and clone VM vm ware server... However is much more flexible when you don't have physical access to your VM host... so I was wondering if it is possible to get the best of both worlds : I would like to use vm ware workstation allows you to configure virtual machines and manage snapshots and vmware server to remotely manage virtual machines, I've created with workstation. Is it not possible?

  • Cannot use RDP with Windows server 2008

Original title: a user cannot RDP

    Hello

I have a windows 2008 R2 server with 5 licenses of Terminal Server. I set it up so that users can RDP to the server using RDP and access other machines via VNC, it's not connetced to a domain or whatever it is.
All users can connect using any OS - Win XP, Win 7, but a user cannot get to their place of work - I can connect from home, of Germany, etc. using the same user name and password, but they can get on the server but their access is denied.
They can telnet to the IP address but can't.

  • Control using ActiveX MKS with VMWare Server 2 - qsp.js - missing?

    Hello

I have VMWare Server 2 got up and running, created a few virtual machines was playing with her. I'm try VMWare to see if I want to move to Microsoft Virtual Server 2005. One thing that I really liked Virtual Server 2005 is the ability to use my virtual machine in an ActiveX control (I know... I know... "I like being able to tab between virtual machines while I am already IN the admin of the site). I downloaded the CAB file, extract the files, installed the plugin and registered the DLL by following the instructions in this article:

    http://KB.VMware.com/selfservice/microsites/sc_search.do?cmd=displayKC & docType = kc & externalId = 1002342 & sliceId = 1 & docTypeID = DT_KB_1_1 & dialogID = 1390001 & StateID = 0% 200% 20859477

I entered my config in the sample HTML IE, and when I open the HTML file I get a black box indicating the plugin is running, but there is no connection. When I turn on debugging in IE, I get an error that says:

    Line: 7

    Error: 'Querystring' is not defined

In the debugger window, it shows the line fails to instantiate an object qsp. There is a reference to script in a file called "qsp.js" that contains the object that he tries to instantiate in the HTML code. Hmm, where is qsp.js? It is not in the cab file and I can't find it on my hard drive. I downloaded and installed the vSphere SDK and can't find it in one of these directories or the other? I looked in the temporary IE files, but it isn't here either.

Any ideas on where I can get this little ole JavaScript file? It's all of that I need connect to my VM...?

I was wondering if there was another (easier) way to achieve what you want. This rings a Bell for many years when I used to use Virtual Server. I use the VI/vSphere Client to manage my server 2.x hosts but unfortunately is not available with a gentle 2.0.1 installation.

Always forgetting the missing javascript file, it works if you hard code the parameters to the connect method? Mine is:

    MKS. Connect ("192.168.0.12", 902, '[standard] XP Pro VPN / Windows XP Professional.vmx","username","password");

Note the slightly weird for the VM name search syntax (although I suppose at this point as to the format, it's wanting). That's what you get using the command "vmrun" with the parameter 'list' to show how VMs. ex:

    vmrun t h https://yourserver:8333 / sdk -u user_name Pei password server list

Obviously, if we cannot get the connection to work there is little interest in the conclusion/autour missing Javascript coding.

  • Working with VMware Server 2 Terminal | Linux

    Hello guys.

I just downloaded the VMware Server 2 and I want to install it on my linux dedicated server using ssh because I do not have a GUI on my server. I don't know how things work here, but I guess it's a kind of forum. The mine is a question. I can install it like this?... and then create my virtual server using ssh, configuration there and that sort of thing? Is there a howto or documentation because I looked but found nothing so far. I would be very grateful if someone can give me a tip.

My server Debian Lenny 5. It is an Athlon 2 x 2.8 Ghz with 2 GB ram and got enough HDD.

VMware Server can be installed without problems on a terminal (also remote with SSH) text.

Management of virtual machine, you can use or VMware CLI or (easier) the web administration page.

See the documentation on the site of VMware Server 2.

    Hello

My server is an HP Proliant G6 G380 with 2 processors Intel Xeon X 5550 2.66 Ghz (Quad Core)

    Operating system is Windows Server 2008 standard x 64 SP2 and I use VMware-server - 2.0.1 - 156745

On the Bios, I enabled HyperThreading, virtualization technology...

    On "Windows Task Manager - Performance" I see 16 CPU (2 processors * 4 cores * hyperhtreading).

On the VMWare Server 2 documentation, they said this support for VMWare Server 2:

    Standard x 86 or x 86-64-compatible server with up to 16 processors.

Hosts with processors of 32-bit IA - 32 and IA-32 with 64-bit extensions processors are

    supported.

When I run VMWare Infrastructure Web Access, basically on my VMWare Server, I see only 1 CPU X 5550 8 hearts.

Do you have any idea why?

    Gerry,

Looks like you have one of two problems:

    1. The VMware Server service does not work. You can check this by opening Windows Services console (start > run > services.msc) and find names of service starting with "VMware".... »

    2. Your hostname cannot solve on your local machine. Try going to https://localhost:8333 / ui /

  • Using Dreamweaver with Office Server Bitnami

I'm trying to get the Dreamweaver configuration to do dynamic editing of my WordPress files installed on my desktop with Bitnami.

My Bitnami WordPress stack is installed in the following link: C:\WordPress\BitNami WordPress Stack\ and the path to the index.php is: C:\WordPress\BitNami WordPress Stack\apps\wordpress\htdocs

To set up the Dreamweaver local site, I use the following settings: server name: connect using Bitnami: Local/network server folder: C:\WordPress\BitNami WordPress Stack\apps\wordpress\htdocs\ Web URL: http://127.0.0.1 8080 / (I also tried omitting the 8080 /') (I also tried the Web URL http://127.0.0.1/wordpress/) and the "Advanced" tab I use the server model: PHP MySQL

My problem is that when I open the index.php file in the main window of Dreamweaver (split) I see the code on the left side of the page, but on the right side of the page (the 'design' side), all I get is a white box (white). When I try to open another page - for example wp-blog - header.php - the same thing going on (code on the left, white box to the right).

When I try to open single.php, I get the code on the left and the right has little symbols indicating "PHP" but no real design is visible and I get a error message on the top of the screen that says "dynamically related files can be solved due to an internal server error. Try again. "

I have my permalinks in WordPress the default, as I read that otherwise because of problems in Dreamweaver in the facilities of others.

Can someone help me? Why I don't receive a dynamic preview?

  • Automatic snapshot with VMware Server 2.0

    Hello

My company uses VMware Server 2.0, however we have several virtual and running servers which we want to have an overview of every 24 hours.

Now ive been looking for this for a while now and I just can't find the way to do it?

Just to let you know that I don't want to make a snapshot of ALL the servers that are running only 6 of them.

Could someone please explain to me how and where to change it so my 6 servers will make a snapshot every 24 hours? If possible, it would be nice if I only would keep 2 snapshots in the folder and after that he began crushing others still? Since we only need to go back in time to 24 hours, however, gives us the opportunity to go back to 48 hours max which is sufficient. (not sure if this is possible?)

    Thank you.

Until last week we saw an error IOCStatus on a linux host. It wasn't the typical time. This is compared to 10-15 (out of 60) hosts linux every Sunday morning and a few variables at other times of load during the week. However, nothing broke down. We went 2 Sundays now since the upgrade of the code and have only seen 1 error w/o accidents. I'm happy with that for now. I'd really like to know what the cause of this well is first. Our storage Administrator said that he has nothing of nfs in the upgrade of the code. Class DOTF, that I went noted a change in the process of kahuna of 7.3 who had to help load. Not sure if it is or not.

  • I need help with this error on VMware Server 2

Hello world!  I'm new to using this site, but not to a large part by using VMware, VMware Server software. I have worked with it for 1.0.5 version. I have a Dell 2950 PowerEdge Server with Red Hat 5.2 and VMware Server 2. I installed 3 virtual machines and I made a backup of any of it. I copied this entire virtual machine to another computer (Dell Optiplex 755) with the same Red Hat 5.2 and VMware Server 2 and I added the virtual machine properly in the inventory of machines with VMWare Server 2 recognized the very fast machine. But when I press Play to start the virtual machine I got the error that appears on the image and I don't know what can be the problem.

    Can someone help me please?

    Thank you very much!

    William Anderson

It looks like may have copied the files when the virtual machine is not correctly - stop search *.lck files/folders in the destination folder and delete them. Also, make sure that the account running the VMware process has permissions to write to the files/folders.

  • VMware Server Version 2.0.2 - migrate VM to ESXi 5.5?

    Hey guys

I use an old Dell T410 with VMware Server Version 2.0.2 (Build 203138) server running on top of serving 2008R1.

I'm looking to install a new server and you want to run ESXi 5.5.

Is it possible to convert VM VMware Server Version 2.0.2 (Build 203138) to ESXi 5.5?

Otherwise I'm running Shadowprotect. If I can't convert, is it possible to do a HIR to ESXi 5.5 from an image of a VM from VMware Server Version 2.0.2 (Build 203138) Shadowprotect?

Finally, I was looking for to run ESXi 5.5 Essentials (not more) on the new physical host and then use the old host as a temporary backup with ESXi 5.5 too. I have to buy 2 x 5.5 ESXi licenses to run it on both machines?

If you want more specifications about the network made me know.

    Kind regards

    Aaron

    Hello

You must convert the virtual server computers to be able to run on ESXi 5.5.

Take a look at this, it is perhaps useful:

How to migrate computers virtual vmware server to vSphere, ESXi

On the essential, it allows to manage 3 servers (servers esxi) with up to 2 processors of each:

Editions of vSphere, vSphere is? Leading Virtual Infrastructure | United States

But, with just the basics, you will be things like HA.

    Best regards

  • Replacement for VMware Server 1.0

    Hello community

I'm running a few hosts CentOS with VMware Server 1.x 5.x various hosts as CentOS virtual computers, the legacy Netware servers and some Windows machines.

Now I need to put in place the new hosts with CentOS 6.x to enjoy some of the things fantasy that comes with this new major release (especially things like the handling of SSD and BTRFS).

However, VMware Server 1.x only installs on CentOS 6 and so this combination is not an option.

VMware Server 2.x (even if it would not work what I do not know) is a no-go, I don't like the web directors at all and would really like to have an administration like the VMware Console tool, which used to be the administrative tool for server 1.x.

I would not mind spending the money for it, so there is no need to be free (business environment), but thousands of dollars of course aren't in the budget for it.

However, many VMware products seem to be a mess for me (sorry...) and even worse, they all seem to be a bit inflated.

What I choose today, VMware Server 1.x was exactly the thing I need, without all the bells and whistles, subsequent proceeds provided with, but if possible with a platform independent (Linux + Win) administration tool?

Is there any "weight light server grade product of virtualization" VMware plus, which brings the necessary basic features and runs on modern linux guests?

I have already evaluated VirtualBox and KVM and got both work, however, I have used VMware now for more than a decade at least I want to ask the community for recommendations before moving on to a completely different virtualization platform.

Thank you to for your advice!

Then take another look at work station - there now the abilitry to function as server hosting VMs - or you can go to the bare metal hypervisor and run ESXi that will install directly on hardware, eliminating the need for CentOS - there is a free version available that as well.

  • To hardware Version 7 computers virtual in VMWare Server 2.0.2 ESXi 5

    Hello world

Taking his retirement from 2 host vmware server computers.  They run Server 2008 64 with VMWare server 2.0.2.  Each host has 3 VMs Windows, 6 in total, all configured with Hardware Version 7

The plan is to set up a new host running ESXi 5.  Install, configure and ready for deployment.  After you have configured the data stores, I want to spend my VMs the 2 old servers a new box of ESXi 5.

I'll copy all virtual machines from the old servers to individual folders on my Windows 7 Desktop and use the vSphere client to load the virtual machines on new data stores.

I read that ESXi 5 can read Version 7 VMs.  Does this mean I can use the virtual machine as is, or still need to convert the hard?  I would like to convert them before their download?  I'm a little gray in this area...

Can you get it someone more experienced please let me know the step by step... or a link to a good "how to" I would really appreciate it.

    Thank you

There is nothing for you. VMware Converter takes care of this. It will not only increase the size of the disc, but also the size of the partition.
