VMWare Fusion 7 and still no USB 3 drivers...

I'm a little disappointed that even after upgrading from 6 to 7 that I get always no VMWare USB 3.0 native support is Windows 7...

I don't know if they have it works for Windows 8.1 but certainly, it does not work for my main Windows 7 VM.

The case is really technical over an entire year, it would not be implemented in 7? Help me understand.

Disappointed...

P.S. If anyone has found a solution, please you intrigue me.

This topic has already been covered ad nauseam!

The bottom line is Windows 7 not delivered with the native USB 3 support for skins, and Microsoft has not provided any service pack or upgrade to Windows 7 to other native USB 3 support.  Therefore, it is a matter of Microsoft not a matter of VMware!    VMware choose that support the native functionality of the OS and Windows 8/8.1 provides the native USB 3 support of skins and as such VMware support USB 3 in Windows 8/8.1.

With WIndows 7 USB tool that I put is on my USB key.

  • VMware Fusion 5 and Boot Camp 4

    Hello

I experienced performance problems in programs related to the guest operating system (Windows 7) 3D in VMware Fusion 5 (inside OS X Lion mountain). I had to install Boot Camp 4 to do my job.

Could you please tell me if I'll be able to use my material directly when I start my disk to Boot Camp with VMware Fusion?

I would like to know if install VMware Tools don't mean anything?

I still can use my Boot Camp separately from time to time (with complete equipment of available resources).

I running everything maxed-out MacBook Pro with the Retina display.

    Thank you

Could you please tell me if I'll be able to use my material directly when I start my disk to Boot Camp with VMware Fusion?

Generally material only between a normal file based Virtual Machine and execution of the partition Boot Camp as a Virtual Machine's hard disk.  With a normal file base Virtual Machine to the default hard drive is virtual and with execution of the partition Boot Camp in a Virtual Machine uses the physical volume of the physical disk.  The rest is no interpreted differently, whatever issues you work around native-boot will always be a problem when the Virtual Machine running the partition Boot Camp in a VM as if it was a normal file-based.

I would like to know if install VMware Tools don't mean anything?

Usually without however you really have no choice but to install VMware Tools running the Boot Camp partition in a Virtual Machine or WPA/OPA will be an ongoing problem when switching back.  VMware Tools will manage the permutation of the WPA/OPA database between two environments after Windows and Microsoft Office (if installed) are enabled in each environment.

I still want to be able to use my Boot Camp separately from time to time (with means complete material available).

You will be able to do.

  • VMware Fusion 7 and VMware Tools - leak memory in Debian comments

At some point during my updates from Mac OS X to Yosemite, VMware Fusion to 7.x and my Debian a guest to 8.0 "Jessie" on my 2012 Mackbook Pro, leaking memory of the Linux kernel is developed.  If I follow these steps, then I'd lose soon about 3 GB memory of the core area.

    1. Install Debian Jessie in a new machine virtual de VMware Fusion
    2. Install open-vm-tools or VMware Tools bundled.
    3. Perform an intensive IO as operation simply cat/dev/zero |-c 1000000000 head >/tmp/test.txt.
    4. Smem - wtk and see ~ 3 GB memory under the dynamics of the kernel memory, benefit.

I opened the 15709682007 assistance request and the representative said that they will fix the problem in a future release. In the meantime, I have what seems to be a workaround for someone else that is affected.  Basically, pulling packages from backports jessie seems to have solved the problem.  This is based on the comments added to open-vm-tools.

    1. Add the Debian repository -backports jessie in /etc/apt/sources.list
    2. sudo apt - get update; sudo apt - get install t Jessie-backports open-vm-tools-dkms open-vm-Tools-Office
    3. sudo apt - get - t jessie-backports dist-upgrade (install kernel 4.1)
    4. Restart comments

    A few quick thoughts:

    1. If you have several virtual machines (or other programs) running on your computer host and VMware Fusion detects that there is memory pressure on your host computer, it uses the "balloon" (vmw_balloon for the latest distributions of Linux) Guest pilot to fly some memory of the guest OS.  This memory "stolen" would appear as memory Dynamics non-cache kernel inside the guest.  Running "sudo rmmod vmw_balloon" should release all memory climbed to the guest OS.  Note that using the balloon driver generally improves the performance of the guest and host, despite the appearance of fear "used memory" inside the guest-"used memory" is just a thing of accounting that we had to use in order to change the priority of the memory between the host and the guest.  It is not "used" in the conventional sense of the term.

    2. I believe that recent versions of virtual hardware non-cache dynamic kernel allocate the necessary memory for SVGA and 3D features (display RAM, texture RAM, etc.).  Disable graphic 3D acceleration or by reducing the amount of graphics shared memory if you are using a new version of virtual hardware (both in the VM > settings... > display) might help.  Decommissioning of a virtual equipment as early (in the VM > settings... > compatibility) can also help.

    See you soon,.

  • VMware Fusion 5 and Yosemite

    Hello

Does VMware Fusion 5 support Yosemite Mac OS X 10.10.4?

I just upgraded from Mountain Lion, but when I tried to run a virtual machine that was working on the Mountain Lion, I get "could not open/dev/vmmon: no such file or directory."

    Thank you.

    Hello Yu Chun-Pong,

The answer is 'No', and follows the answer a little longer...

I'm sorry to inform you that Fusion 5.x does not work under OS X Yosemite.

5.x end merger of general support was on 23/08/2014, before the release of Yosemite.

You can watch the Matrix of Life Cycle of the products for the exact dates.

It is highly unlikely that VMware publishes an update to a product that has been withdrawn.

You can roll back to Yosemite to the Mavericks if you wish to continue using the Fusion 5.x or upgrade to a newer version supported.

If you want to test the latest version to see if it is worth your expenses, you can install and run a fully functional version of 30 days before actually committing to spending anything.

After 30 days, you purchase a license to modify the merger installed in an unlimited version.

For the assessment of the merger's direct download link

In addition, you can also choose to run the Tech Preview, but don't realize that--although normally very stable – there is no guarantees with preview/test software.

  • VMware Fusion 5 and upgrade to Windows 8-

    Hello

I am trying to install a partition from Windows 7 to Windows 8 bootcamp. The installer is at 30% and dies. The error message is "Windows 8 installation doesn't have." The process stops and returns me to Windows 7.

I ran the process a few times with the same results. I ran the upgrade wizard. He tells me about a secure boot is only not available and maybe I need to install an application to play DVDs on Windows 8.

Someone at - it advice? Bit a noob to Windows stuff so apologies if I'm missing out some crucial information. I have had a look through the forum and could not see anyone have reported a similar problem.

  • Inspiron 530 'bus SM' and the necessary USB controller drivers...

    Dear Dell's Support Forum:

Briarguy here, just south of Boston, and today I have an Inspiron 530, I received as a gift to replace my last PC hand made (I am really more used to buildiing my desktop PC, since 1992) which ceased to operate in late July of this year.  I'll also have a Dimension 9200 off insane among the universities of Boston for a new "main office PC", and I would like the Inspiron to my mother for her needs.

The software drivers only I couldn't easily find the Inspiron 530 were the 'bus SM' and USB controller so-called cases (two USB 'controllers' showing!) in Win - XP Device Manager.  Soneday I hope to upgrade the Inspiron 530 to use Win - 7 home, but before then I would get some help as to exactly where, to the Dell support page that I downloaded most of the hardware drivers to work because I got power find the USB controller drivers and 'bus SM' for this otherwise "works pretty well" Inspiron 530!

Could someone guide me please to the names of files that these drivers are, and where on this page I might better be able to find them?

Thank you in advance and Yours Sincerely,

    Dave the BriarGuy

BUS SM = you have not installed the chipset drivers.  USB 2.0 and up requires Service pack 3 for XP.  Windows 7, 8 and 10 supports the chipset in native mode.

  • VMWARE Fusion 5 and my iMac

    Hello

I'm new to the forum. Thank you in advance for any help with my problem.

I bought a new iMac yesterday and installed 5 merger with Windows 7. When I go to 'Computer' on side Windows and check the amount of hard disk space that I said only 59 gb. However, I have a 1 terabyte of hard drive. I intend only using Windows so I would like to have as much free HD as possible. How can I do show more disc space available for me?

    Thanks again!

    Hello Maxschle,

Welcome to the VMware communities forum.

While you can as indicated in another response using Bootcamp, bootcamp, of course, mean "restart" and only Windows and restart again if you want to use OS X.

If you want to enjoy both (OS X and windows) operating systems at the same time, then virtualization is the answer.

With regard to «the virtual hard disk more» You can do this when you start running out of space in your windows guest OS.

It is MUCH easier to cultivate your drive as to reduce it, and as such I recommend to not do "as big as possible".

In order to push the disc in your guest OS, switch it off completely (not to pause/resume /...) by using Shutdown in windows.

Then, go to the menu merging 'Virtual Machine', 'Settings', 'Hard drive' and increase the size.

At the start of your guest operating system, the virtual disk will be bigger.

    Hope this helps,

  • A Boot Camp Partition, two Machines virtual VMware Fusion

After the installation of the Boot Drive Partition *, I see now two versions of the Virtual Machine Boot Camp. Is this normal? Can I delete one with no impact on my Boot Camp? Should I remove VMware Fusion altogether and reinstall so that I can have a clean virtual machine only the partition boot camp?

*It is on a separate post, but can be linked... Initially, I installed VMware Fusion, without first running training Camp and installed a Microsoft XP operating system on it. It stopped working and I had a lot of problems with Windows that I decided to do a new installation, but this time using Boot Camp. I can see two VMS, (actually 3*), but I want to remove the first virtual machine without Boot Camp. I tried the virtual machine under users/Documents/Virtual Machines, but the directory is empty. I deleted the directory, just in case. When I returned to VMware Fusion, it can still start the virtual machine. I looked through the finder and can't find it. If not, how can I remove this virtual computer and free up space for the Mac?  (No need to answer this question if it is not related to the top)

    How can I fix?

    Thank you

I assumed that since things worked very well with VMware Fusion 6.0.2 that it was merge that you are prompted to update and you did it through merger strictly said, which is correct?  If Yes, I download the installer of VMware Fusion website of VMware 6.0.3, remove the "/ Applications/VMware Fusion" App and then install from the downloaded installer.
