  Hi people out there. First time poster in the hope of getting some ideas. Here's some information and what I'm trying to accomplish.

  So I set up a VMware environment for me and a friend to me so that we can play with ESXi and virtual systems and configurations.

  My home system has 1.5 to storage and 32 GB of memory, so I decided to use my system to be the host.

  With the help of VMware Workstation 9, I created a virtual machine with 16 GB of RAM and 1 TB of storage to use for our game environment. I installed the ESXi host on this virtual machine (Yes a VM will be my virtual machine host).

  -J' have the host connected to VMware Network Adapter VMnet8 from my PC to give it a different IP subnet separate from my primary home network on 192.168.65.x

  -J' have a Terminal Server running Windows Server 2008 R2 as my first virtual machine with 2 network cards virtual

  -J' have a second vSwitch systems to connect to my home network primary 192.168.1.x. whose purpose is specifically to the server terminal server, so I can route RDP on the internet for the TS.

  -I don't want my virtual systems with access to the main network (beyond the Terminal Server computer) and I don't want ALL of the virtual machines to have internet access on a network.

  -My level of router, I have internet blocks from the host and IP address on the second card of the server terminal server. Then I'm OK.

  Here's my problem. Power of the internet on the TS works that until I got disabling the adapter connected to the 192.168.1.x. I can always get internet access through the 192.168.65.x of my main PC adapter. All my other virtual machines will be connected to the reseau.65 so they are not using my primary network traffic and I don't want them having access to my internet. I want to just beyond the server terminal server itself, being separated from my home network and that you have access to its own internal virtual reseau.65 and nothing outside of it. I know individually, I can specify an IP address and just put the default gateway to something like 0.0.0.0 and which effectively blocks this system to have internet, but I don't want to have to rely on set up this configuration or pressing the friend who will use to access this virtual network to do this in any new VM he created RDP. I want to do in the world in terms of network, if I can.

  Any thoughts are appreciated. If I failed to point out anything please let me know and I'll try to explain.

  If I understand your requirement, all that you need to do is to open the virtual network Editor, create a new 'Host-Only' virtual network adapter (uncheck the box "connect an adapter to the virtual host in the network) and use this new host only instead of NAT network adapter.

  For weeks, I receive the error message "download failed. Network failure. "for a particular item in a folio. I looked for answers to what it means, and I have not found information that helped identify the reason why this error continues to display.

• New to vmware - network speed help please

  Hi all

  I recently joined and installed ESXi 5.1.0 Build 799733 on a box tailor-made purely to test many of our customers use it and I need to familiarize myself with it. Everythings went well except 1 perticular question so far. I have 2 vm Win Server 2008 on a test domain that work very well. However my pc if I rdp to one of the servers and start a copy of the file to say 4 GB RDP, its says its will take about 5 hours ago, transferring 1 mb/s all about surely is not fair?

  The server and my pc are on ssd and a local network of 1 GB connection. Ive browsed the forums and found an article on sending disable unloading on the two network cards, which I did, but it remains the question of speed. Someone at - it any guidance please as its really frustrating. I rang vmware for support but was advised to try here before you buy a solution of their own.

  Please remember I'm new on this and don't have much linux background. I hope someone here can help solve it please?

  1 x 250 GB SSD - running two VMS

  16GB DDR3 1666 mhz

  Intel Core i7 870 processor 2.93 mhz

  Realtek 8168 Gigabit Ethernet - vSphere reports 10MB Full Duplex Auto negotiate (read online that this speed is not serious because it will be more efficient?)

  PC Spec:

  Windows 8

  1 x 250 GB SSD

  8 GB DDR3 1333 mhz

  AMD Phenom II x 6 1055 t.

  Network Realtek PCIe GBE Family Controller card

  The two Spec VM:

  4 CPUS (2 virtual Sockets, 2 by heart)

  4 GB of Ram

  E1000 network card (tried other types but without success)

  50GB partition C

  With a 1GBit switch port and a 1GBit "Auto/Auto" NIC (speed and Duplex auto-negotiation) is the recommended setting. If you get a lower speed, or one of the components (switch port, NIC, or network cable) has a problem or your NETWORK card is is simply not supported on ESXi, i.e. the required drivers are missing. In this case, you can get a NETWORK card, or at least one which is known as work.

• Yellow! for VMware network driver after upgrade to server 2003

  We have an older Windows Server 2000 guest who was P2V sometime.  It is one of our domain controllers.   In the process of migrating our AD domain until 2008, I have tried to upgrade this server to 2003 our ad can be in 2003 as part of the move towards 2008.   Long story short, in order to upgrade to 2003 server, I had to remove the old Compaq Network Managment of the machine software.  This software was not in Add/Remove Programs, then I went to the manual way to remove hidden drivers, when still it did not work, I have deleted all entries in registry SEO Compaq network management.  I proceeded with the upgrade, but when the system has finished, the LAN connection is missing, and Device Manager has a yellow explanation point to the NIC for VMware Acceleraged AMD PCInet adapter.

  I recloné and resume the upgrade with only remove entries from registry for Compaq Network MGT.  Yet once, after an upgrade, the same problem appeared with the network card.

  I don't know how to successfully remove the Ghost for the Compaq when the software seems to not exist on the computer.  (nothing in Add/Remove Programs, nothing in C:\program files, start anything in the 'Programs' from the menu list.

  Once I get the error on the NIC card I can't fix.  I tried to reinstall the VMWare driver from the VMTools directory, but that still does not work.

  Not sure about Windows 2000, but IIRC the HP drivers can be removed trough the network card properties!

  Be sure to reconfigure the guest operating system to Windows Server 2003 in the properties of the virtual machine after the upgrade. I had probably also remove the NIC and add an E1000 NIC, which is the default value for Windows 2003 VMs.

  Hi all

  I have a windows vista computer, its local ip address is 192.168.178.58. On this pc I have installed Vmware workstation. On the post, I run 1 ubuntu server with the local IP 192.168.184.20 and 1 windows xp server with the local IP 192.168.184.131.

  When I ping my server xp to ubuntu server it works. But I can't ping the computer windows vista one of the virtual servers. How can I fix?

  In fact, you should have an adapter VMnet8 on your host with this configuration ('connect a virtual adapter for this network')! What you can try is to start the editor of virtual network using "Run as Administrator" and then click on the "Restore default settings" button to see if it creates the adapter host with an IP 192.168.184.1.

• Windows server 2008 R2 network failure

  I wonder if you can help.

  I have a server windows server 2008 R2 64-bit running (DC and Exchange 2010) and the network continues to default.  I deleted the job net apters and reinstalled. I checked the firewall (disabled), I've ininstalled and resettled VMware tools.  icannot see errors in the event viewer.

  Yes, if you're closely following best practices of VMware, separate you each of the different types of traffic network - vmotion, mgmt, iscsi, vmnetwork.

  for several VLANs if I understand your management and vmotion n/w are not necessarily configured to several VLANs, it is just the network of the virtual machine that must be physicaaly connected to several VLANs and configured to swtich VM to several VLANs

  What sounds right?

  Once again, if closely following best practices separate you with different uplink (s).  In the real world you have to balance the budget in relation to best practices.  Some times the budget dictates how closely you follow best practices.

  You will find that probably majority of VMware Admins keep the network SC/mgmt and vmotion on the same vSwitch/uplinks.  If you must go this route, I suggest using IP networks separated for mgmt and vmotion.  Especially in ESXi.  Port for mgmt group would be 192.168.1.5/24 and port for vmotion group would be 192.168.252.5/24.  He shouldn't be necessary to make changes on the pSwitch as long as your army have vMotion on the 192.168.252.x/24 network.

  I want to join the domain for my xp clients, but I does not work, what kind of network, I select, I can't pind my server or my other xp client, there are 3 types of networks,

  NAT, bridge and host, what kind of network, I select so I can set up to 3 machines VMS for networking.

  If you use the network only host the virtual machines will communicate on a private network and do not have access to the rest of your network.  If you choose that option workstation must run a DHCP service on this subnet so the VMs will obtain IP addresses and should be able to communicate.  Make sure you have Windows Firewall disabled if you test with ping.

  If you choose bridge then the VMs will be on the rest of your network and you will need a DHCP server on it or manually assign IP addresses.  I wouldn't as well with the NAT option for virtual machines.

  You have assigned an IP address to the domain controller, and if it's matching the rest of your network (bridged mode) or the subnet used for host only networking (if you use this option)?

  Basically, with connections team LAN 1, I can get all my guests talking to eachother with gusto, but only Server 2008 DC has an Internet connection, it is obviously because it's fill my connection to hosts where the my Vista client simply connects on the same LAN to team as the domain controller. How can I get the internet to work on my guests without messing up my team LAN config that works perfectly bar the Internet connection? Do I need to add another network adapter to my clients?

  You must install the 'Routing and RAS"on the domain controller (which is a component of Windows Server software) and configure it as a router... I'll check for a link on how to do it. Install the software in the meantime...

  Welcome to the HP Forums, I hope you enjoy your experience!

  I understand that you have lost the network connection on the printer when you try to configure computer 2.

  I'll be happy to help you.

  Make sure that both computers are connected to the same network.

  Restore the default values of the printers.
  Select the configuration (key button) on the printer, select network config, select restore default settings.

  On the 1st computer temporarily connect the USB cable from the printer to the computer and go to start, all programs, HP, Laserjet M1217 and select Wireless Setup and go through the wizard to reset back to the top the wireless.

  On the 2nd computer just run the wizard to add printer to install the printer, devices and printers or the printer window. Select the have disk button and browse the CD to complete the installation.

• Network failure. XP reports that "the system has recovered from a serious error".

  We use a XP 32 bit box as a file server and server for some medical practice software.  The network fails randomly and is not able to be accessed by client computers.  When we enter our XP box we get the message "the system has recovered from a serious error".

  It is perhaps the most current driver and GoToMyPc is often a cause of BSOD.  Suggest you remove at least to test.
