    Hello

I currently use the number of servers with the free version of VMWare ESXi 5.

So now I want to use more RAM and want to have more tools like backup tool, clone.

I've been reading in vmware site but it makes me a bit of confusion.

Can someone clarify this for me:

    1. what should I do after the 'VMware vSphere Essentials Kit' command that allows me to manage 3 physical servers, while I use "VMware vSphere Client" free edition?

2 should I change or action with "VMware vSphere Hypervisor?

    3. the fee of $495 is a right to life or it's annual fee? The subscription is required for first year only, is that correct?

1 + 2) Just enter the new license key. No need to reinstall the hosts or stop the virtual machines. In the oder to the Manager of all 3 hosts from the same management interface, you must configure vCenter Server, which is included in the Kit of Essentials.

3.) after the initial purchase, it's your decision if you renew the subscription after the first year.

4.) there have been a few changes since release of vSphere regulatory policy 5. With the release of vSphere 5.5 all material limitations (cores per CPU and RAM) have been removed (see http://www.vmware.com/files/pdf/vsphere_pricing.pdf).

  • 'VMware vSphere 4 Essentials Bundle for 3 guests' trial

    Hello

I have just buyed VMware vSphere 4 Essentials Bundle for 3 guests.

I can't find a trial (maybe I'm blind?) for this product? Delivery of license takes more then 3 days (electronic delivery...?), so I wanted to download a trial version, get all this work so that I can just paste the file or license key.

    is this possible?

Just download the free installer, use the key to the trial (register for the correct number of pin/Socket) and then simply paste in the key bought once it arrives.

  • VMWare ESXi 4 or VMware vSphere 4 Essentials Bundle

    Hi all

We are size medium no criticism of business when it come to the

servers and COMPUTER service. We currently hold 10 physical servers in the future

will be placed on the virtual environment. We already have VMware ESXi 4 running that

    who currently hold 3 VMs.

We bought the very powerful server that can accommodate more than

    15 virtual machines.

    Specification of the server:

2 physical processors with 6 hearts

    16 GB memory

    2 TB internal hard drive

    4 * a gigabit network card

I'm not sure I should install VMware ESXi or pay a

version of VMware vSphere. The new server will be critical such as servers

Exchange, BES, Finance server. We do not want to spend more than £1000

License of VMware. VMware vSphere 4 Essentials Bundle responds to our

requirements and the budget. I was watching VCB guide and it is perhaps useful

but it took a lot of configuration, SAN/NAS and extra money (agents of)

    third party software to backup).

We have SIN, and it is connected to the network switch. Yes, I did

trying to backup to NAS (70 GB) and it took about 6 hours using FOSS Veem.

Should I go for free version or VMware vSphere 4 Essentials

    Bundle?

    Thank you

    > What benefits will I have more other free version VCB then?

Well well with VCB, you can make full backups of you vms, but you can also use with free ESXi as GHettoVCB free tools.

Also, look here for more information.

  • Question about VCB and VMWare vSphere 4 Essentials

    Hello

We have 2 virtual servers: one with ESXi35 (that has VMWare infrastructure Client 2.5) and the other with ESXi4 (which a vSphere Client 4). There is an offer to purchase of VMWare vSphere 4 Essentials to half the regular price and I wanted to know if this product allows me to backup (and possibly restore) virtual machines using VCB scripts.

    Thank you very much

    Concerning

    Carlos Negroni

From this link, http://store.vmware.com/store/vmware/en_US/DisplayProductDetailsPage/productID.126843700 , it includes VCB so the answer to your question is Yes.  I remember got an e-mail that VCB is now end of life so that it is no longer that probably not available in the next version of ESX.

  • VMware vSphere Advanced Acceleration Kit

How does VMware vSphere Acceleration Kit advanced work? How many guest support? I have two servers at once with 2 quad core processors. I would like to implement the two servers with a tolerance for vcenter and fault, then add a third server that is identical. This package will work for me?

We currently have kits essentials in place on two other servers. The essential kit clearly states its for 3 guests (max 2 CPUs per host) and 6 cores per processor

This package should work just fine, but we want tolerance fault for our new configuration. That's why I'm leaning towards VMware vSphere acceleration Kit Advanced.

    Thank you

    Joe

As you have already mentioned, the Kits Essentials are limited to 3 guests. That's all.

Acceleration Kits are reduced start-up kits which contain regular licenses. You can only buy 1 of these kits per location. The Advanced acceleration Kit includes vSphere Advanced 6 processors and vCenter Server Foundation. You can use the licenses processor you want, for example for the guests of CPU of 3 x 2 or 1 x 2 CPU + 1 x 4 CPU... If you need more guests and 3 then you can upgrade the License Server Foundation of vCenter to vCenter Server Standard and purchase additional processor licenses. See http://www.vmware.com/vmwarestore/buyvsphere-acceleration-kits.html

As far as I know there are options to upgrade Essentials more to the acceleration of advanced kit. Ask your VMware reseller for more details.

  • Much more kit for 3 guests

    Hei,

I was wondering, if I order this license, support contract is included for a year, or what I have to buy that too for a year? Could not find any info on this anywhere and do companys offer me different prices on the same license, an offers $ 200 less for kit with support included for one year. I was wondering if they where trying to trick me?

    Anyone?

The two Kits Essentials include an instance of vCenter Server for Essentials and 6 processor licenses for up to 3 guests. According to the Kit, the price may include subscription only (for the most part) or Support (more Essentials). The Essentials Plus Kit can be purchased with the support of basic or Production (1-3 years).

First VMware is a company not a product and you didn't say what VMware product you use no you said what OS is on the host or the guest then I suggest you read the VMware product documentation that you are using.  In general, if the Virtual Machine works in the same way a physical Machine so you can do the same between the host and guest in dealing with clients as if it were a physical Machine.

If you have VMware Tools installed in the comments you can also take advantage of VMware shared folders and or the functionality of Drag and Drop on pris supported operating systems.

  • VMWare vSphere Essentials Plus Kit

My apologies in advance if this is posted in the wrong place - I'm going round and round, trying to find answers and appropriate to place.

I have reflected on vSphere Essentials Plus Kit for 3 guests and just have a few questions.

    (1) the limitation specified 2 CPUs.  Does mean physical cores?  For example, I currently have a small number of virtual machines running on a HP DL360 G5 which has processor Xeon.  ESXi is reported as 2, but 8 cores.  So in this example VMWare will consider this 2 CPU or 8 CPU? (I realize that this material is not compatible with vSphere V5, but I'd be curious to understand the principle of limitation)

    (2) is in any way to migrate to ESXi 4.1 vSphere Essentials Plus Kit (which I suppose is 5.1?) because it would take me a hardware and software upgrade.  Or am I better implementation of a new system and use something like vCenter Converter to move virtual machines?

    (3) is there such a thing as a vSphere Essentials Plus Kit evaluation?  If this is not the case, how can I do for my test environment.  I don't want to invest in a new hardware/software, if for some reason any that does not work for me

I'm looking to move to ESXi for reasons of redundancy and reslience.  I have only 1 ESXi box run currently with about 6 VM I'm not a major user and I think that more Kit Essentials fits the Bill on all the rest.

Thanks in advance for your comments and advice.

  • ESXi 5/VMWare vSphere 5 tool Mgmt Essentials

I got the upgrade of the v5 FREE ESXi from VMWare vSphere Essentials 5 hypervisor.  I'm looking for what we call the 'vCenter Management Console", which I'm supposed to have access with me purchase vSphere Essentials 5, to manage multiple servers within a single console ESXi and also have a GUI based ESXi management tool for updates to update my v5 ESXi servers.

With the naming conventions wonderfully confusing of all the different productions of VMWare, I can't find anything with that name.  The closest element I can find reference only ESXi v4 and when I try to download, I gives me a warning that I am not allowed to download.

Could someone shed some light on this topic for me so I can clarify what I'm looking for?  Still, it comes to a VMWare vSphere 5 Essential Kit that I just bought.

    Thank you

    Dave

Yes, you could use an Oracke VM or VM VMware running under VMplayer or in the essential of vSphere environment - or you can manage ESXi and the individual instances servers using the client installed on your workstation vSphere with them having to use vCenter -

VCenter integration in an AD environment is not a requirement it just makes managing easier users/groups in a large environment - you can actually have the server part of a workgroup and use groups the and users on the access - default server administrators locala groups is given administrator access to the environment of vcenetr -.

With regard to updating a ESXi host, you do not need VMware Update Manager, it can be done using the CLI - you can update with software esxcli 5.0 ESXi hosts vib commands discussed in vSphere upgrade documentation included in the documentation of vSphere set 5.0. You cannot run the command vihostupdate against a 5.0 ESXi host.

If you are looking for to deploy individual hosts with likited resources that, I would suggest deploythe free version of ESXi - weak positive points cost disadvantages: you need to manage each host individually and will be capped on memory - which I believe is 32 GB

With the essentials, it will be more expensive, but you know be able to manage several servers ESXi to a place more depending on your license, you will be able to take advantage of VMware HA allowsing your environment to recover from a failure of the host, VMware DRS, which will ensure the delivery of resources to VMS in times of conflict and can back up the virtual machine with them affecting the performance of the virtual machine or access

  • Question of very fast licenses - vSphere Essentials Kits

    Hello

Can you have several Essentials and Essentials Plus kit by site?

That is to say - can you buy 3 x Essentials Kits for your site with 9 guests and build 3 VMs vCenter to manage each package of 3?

IE - if you use your first kit, you are eligible to buy a second for the next hosts a few in your company?

    Thank you

I'm not aware of a limitation for the Essentials Kits. The only one I can think of with a limit of one per site is an acceleration Kit.

Anyway, if you consider three Kits Essentials more, it may be useful to check if the benefits of vCenter Server more ESXi Standard licenses justifies the price difference.

  • VMware vSphere Hypervisor 6.0 NIC not recognized

    Hi all

I intend to install VMware vSphere Hypervisor 6.0 in my own office, but the network adapter may not be recognized. My network card is Realtek rtl81111C, which is integrated in the motherboard Gigabyte. I want to buy a network card, could you suggest a good market (PCI, PCIe two OK) which is supported for VMware vSphere Hypervisor 6.0 for my office?

    Hello

You can search for network cards supported here: http://www.vmware.com/resources/compatibility/search.php?deviceCategory=io

If it's just for the study, you might also install VMware Player or workstation (the player is free for commercial nun) and run the vSphere Hypervisor as a virtual machine.

Does not give you optimal performance, but to study it is enough, and you don't need hardware supported for ESXi.

  • What exactly is in the VMware vSphere Essentials Kit

Yes I looked on the page and there seems to be a lot of xyz, but no definitive list of what is in the kit of essestials or even the pro kit.

Ideally, this as the backup software, but would be nice to know all inclusive.

VBackup Thinware said he needs of VMware Consolidated Backup, but Google takes me to the page on this point and when I go to buy, send me info about versions of VM, but nothing in the Kits except data backup API - tis more confusing for a new user.

Kits Essentials is a set of licenses. The kit includes the licenses processor vSphere and vCenter Server for Essentials for an environment of maximum 3 guests (up to 2 CPUs) and capacity maximum vRAM grouped 192 GB. Kits scalability limits Essentials are applied to the product and may not be extended except by upgrading the complete kit to a top-range package. Cannot be decoupled or combined with other editions of VMware vSphere Essentials Kits are stand-alone solutions

    1. You can download and run up to 3 ESXi 5 guests with 2 processors
    2. You can download vCenter server and run one instance of vCenter
    3. You can download VMware Data Recovery to be able to backup your virtual machines without affecting the performance of the virtual machine

    Hope this helps
