Question about VCB and VMWare vSphere 4 Essentials

Hello

We have 2 virtual servers: one with ESXi35 (that has VMWare infrastructure Client 2.5) and the other with ESXi4 (which a vSphere Client 4). There is an offer to purchase of VMWare vSphere 4 Essentials to half the regular price and I wanted to know if this product allows me to backup (and possibly restore) virtual machines using VCB scripts.

Thank you very much

From this link, http://store.vmware.com/store/vmware/en_US/DisplayProductDetailsPage/productID.126843700 , it includes VCB so the answer to your question is Yes.  I remember got an e-mail that VCB is now end of life so that it is no longer that probably not available in the next version of ESX.

It shouldn't be a problem - Fusion runs as an application on top of OS - x and does not install the drivers.

I personally believe, you are not using Fusion or you are not aware that merger indeed install drivers under Windows when running the Boot Camp partition in a Virtual Machine. Especially if you use a version of Windows that requires WPA then VMware Tools must be installed to manage this activation problem and it also installs the necessary drivers to support the Virtual Machine uses the virtual hardware.  So Fusion installs drivers in the Camp of Boot partition when it works as a Virtual Machine and the installation is automatic, unless we alter the configuration of Boot Camp partition.vmx file or cancel the installation of the VMware Tools at the start of the Windows Desktop for the first time running the Boot Camp partition as a VM for the first time.

    Hi all

We are size medium no criticism of business when it come to the

will be placed on the virtual environment. We already have VMware ESXi 4 running that

We bought the very powerful server that can accommodate more than

    15 virtual machines.

2 physical processors with 6 hearts

    16 GB memory

    2 TB internal hard drive

    4 * a gigabit network card

I'm not sure I should install VMware ESXi or pay a

Exchange, BES, Finance server. We do not want to spend more than £1000

We have SIN, and it is connected to the network switch. Yes, I did

    Thank you

Well well with VCB, you can make full backups of you vms, but you can also use with free ESXi as GHettoVCB free tools.

    Hello

I have just buyed VMware vSphere 4 Essentials Bundle for 3 guests.

I can't find a trial (maybe I'm blind?) for this product? Delivery of license takes more then 3 days (electronic delivery...?), so I wanted to download a trial version, get all this work so that I can just paste the file or license key.

    is this possible?

Just download the free installer, use the key to the trial (register for the correct number of pin/Socket) and then simply paste in the key bought once it arrives.

  • Question about business and Service of Proxy

    Hi friends,
I have a question about services and proxy services business IE I need to find the time it takes to call an operation on multipoint business of proxy service, how can I do in oracle service bus (OSB)? You can help quickly

If your question is only about the performance analysis,
try to activate the 'monitoring' on the 'operational' of the Service Proxy Service/Company tab.
For the Proxy Services, if you activate at the level of the 'Action' you get a lot of information about each individual action in a power of attorney.

  • 5 of VSphere and VMware vSphere Essentials Licensing

I just the unit of vCenter installed and put my license keys in for VMware vSphere Essentials Bundle - (version 5.0) - license - 3 guests - up to 2 processors by host

However, when I connect via vSphere client of web it says I have a key that expires in 60 days (the assessment key). I can't delete this key. I'll find myself unable to manage my VM with vSphere Web Client in 60 days?

    Man, this approval is confusing!

Looks like that you always use your evaluation key for your instance of vCenter instead of your purchased key.  If you click on the tab of systems vCenter server you should be able to pass the eval on a key your purchased key.  That should solve your problem.

  • Can I schedule of VCB scripts in vSphere 4 Essentials?

    Hello:

Some time ago I asked if vSphere 4 Essentials taken supported scripts VCB to backup and restore virtual machines. I received an affirmative answer, however, now I need to know if I can plan these VCB scripts to run at night. And finally, if possible, where can I find help on writing and programming of VCB scripts?

    Concerning

    Carlos Negroni

    Hi Carlos,

You must install the VCB framework on a Windows machine. Then, you can plan your bowl of the internal Scheduler backup scripts. You can take a look at the documentation here to find all the information:

    http://www.VMware.com/PDF/vSphere4/R40/vsp_vcb_15_u1_admin_guide.PDF

VCB is not the solution the simplest, so good luck!

  • VMware vSphere 5 Essentials Kit for 3 guests (3 physical servers)

    Hello

I currently use the number of servers with the free version of VMWare ESXi 5.

So now I want to use more RAM and want to have more tools like backup tool, clone.

I've been reading in vmware site but it makes me a bit of confusion.

Can someone clarify this for me:

    1. what should I do after the 'VMware vSphere Essentials Kit' command that allows me to manage 3 physical servers, while I use "VMware vSphere Client" free edition?

2 should I change or action with "VMware vSphere Hypervisor?

    3. the fee of $495 is a right to life or it's annual fee? The subscription is required for first year only, is that correct?

    4. "VMware vSphere Essentials Kit' supports up to 192 GB of RAM per physical server and max of 32 GB of RAM per VM?

    5. What is the difference with "VMware vSphere Standard" edition?

    It's a few links I've read:

1 + 2) Just enter the new license key. No need to reinstall the hosts or stop the virtual machines. In the oder to the Manager of all 3 hosts from the same management interface, you must configure vCenter Server, which is included in the Kit of Essentials.

3.) after the initial purchase, it's your decision if you renew the subscription after the first year.

4.) there have been a few changes since release of vSphere regulatory policy 5. With the release of vSphere 5.5 all material limitations (cores per CPU and RAM) have been removed (see http://www.vmware.com/files/pdf/vsphere_pricing.pdf).

5.) see page 6 in Licensing, Pricing and packaging white paper

  • Questions about new HA in vsphere features 5

    Hello!

I have a few questions about new ha features in vsphere 5

I found, there is a master ha in the cluster that monitors other hosts and protected virtual machines through two type of heartbeats (network and data store) and move the VMS if necessary. If this host fails, an election is held and new master ha is determined by vcenter server.

Ok! What happens if we install vCenter Server as a virtual machine inside the host who is the master ha in a cluster. If this host fails (something like a power cut) its agent goes too far and also the vcenter is destroyed. So, who's going to hold the election and introduce the new ha so that the old ha and vCenter are out of the game.

I know that ha staff are not entirely dependent on vCenter and runs if the host taking vcenter is far (restart vms including vcenter or moved to another host on another) but I think this one is different because of the new role of master

My next question is on the different types of events, which can arrive at the slave of the hosts and do their partitioned or isolation. I'll ask them later (once this question is answered

    Thanks to you all

you mean master election (who needs to know the host object id in the cluster and the number of data warehouses connected and...) is performed by agents themselves? and he needs no intervention vcenter?

No fix - no intervention from vCenter for an election of master.

and another thing. When the host with vCenter machine on it and the role of chess master, how other officers find that the master is absent? is not the work of vcenter to notice and say to others when master does not work?

Is not work of vCenter - is the work of the master and the process of hearbeating among the slaves.

what I doubt is that: If slave hosts loose connectivity with the master, they think that they are faulty and should present themselves as isolated or partitioned and it is the duty of the vcenter to know when the captain does not work! can you please correct me here

See above - is not vCenter work to determine which node is failed or isolated - it's the work of agents FDM.
