Volume icon missing and disabled in the taskbar properties
I noticed my icons for volume and network of the taskbar for a week and finally decided to try to repair. I checked the properties of the taskbar and found volume and network selections have been disabled. So I rebooted. Now I have the clock and network icons, but no battery icon and I don't always have the sound icon (which was the one I wanted) and these two are disabled in the taskbar properties. Any advice on how to reactivate these icons? I have Vista and I am currently on updates.

Note: Use the method two or three depending on what version of Vista you have.
Whe finished, restart (close and turn it back on).
Now after restarting, go to the taskbar of routine properties and click on these missing icons.

The icons in the notification area of the bar (on the side of the lower right of the desktop) tasks are not all there. The speaker/volume icon is over now and the arrow next to the notification (to show and hide icons) area has also disappeared. I have not changed anything on the computer. I tried to restart but it did not help. No idea why this would suddenly disappear and how to get it back?
Have you tried right clicking on an empty area of the taskbar, properties tab and taskbar by selecting it and then pressing the button customize section Notification area? Hello
One last thing to check.
Open the Registry Editor and navigate to the following location.
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\Explorer
In the right side window, click on the NoAutoTrayNotify value and select Edit. If there is a '1', replace it with "0".
Quit the registry editor and Log Off/Log.
Test.

Lack of volume control and Greyed out in the taskbar properties
Until recently (past two months) it was never a problem. When I bought this computer there nearly two years, I created my taskbar which included my volume control. He has been there since then. I have Vista, Service Pack 2.
I have not changed hardware. But in the last two months my volume control dissappers of the taskbar every once in a while and when I go into the taskbar properties, the control volume is grayed. It's VERY frustrating because I can't find another way to implement volume control. Fortunately I have a volume control key on my keyboard and use it when necessary.
I did a search about this problem and see that a lot of people have the same problem. WHY? If this happens due to Windows updates, why didn't this problem been taken care of. Some of the complaints I've seen in my research were two years old.
Frustrated. Please do stop.

I don't think he has none to do with the webcam. Just a coincidence.
Use this tutorial:
http://www.Vistax64.com/tutorials/106787-notification-area-system-icons.htmlThe tutorial has 3 methods.
Method is a general method which, unfortunately, rarely works because the box, you need to check is grayed out (unclickable).
Two method is only for Vista Ultimate and Enterprise.
Three method applies to all versions of Vista.
Use the Reg file download. It is simple and easy.* Make sure that you restart the computer to perform the procedures.
