Vote on SQL Developer feature requests

I have been reviewing applications for features and the various statutes, must you always vote on those that are marked as accepted? I guess that Yes to give them more weight to get them looked at earlier? Are these marked rejects NEVER looked at again? What is the difference between those marked open and those that are marked in the expectation of the community Votes? These 2 articles are not the same thing?

Thanks for your help.

Evita,

Yes, you can still vote on Accepted. (You can even vote for "programmed for immediate release... (', because sometimes you have to pass the characteristics from one version to another)

Accepted means that it seems possible to do and we can do it, but 'when' has not been established. Please add votes to help this decision.
Rejected Just that, we have no intention to do so. I don't revisit rejected on the Exchange.
(However, some features that have been rejected have been discussed on the forum and we have reconsidered. We have also changed to "rejected" to "accepted" on various occasions, but only based on discussions here. Rejected features have very poor explanations of the problem that users are trying to solve)

Open We haven't read or taken any decision on them.
In the meantime the community vote means just that. Someone suggested a feature and no one seems interested. With the long list of features, we need to give priority and some requested features are dark, so we want more feedback from the community. More votes and feedback from Community aid. We sometimes get the 10 points of some people and zero for the same function.

Please note that except for the features open, others we hit and add your comments.

The problems I have with feature requests is the lack of clarity in the application and several applications described in a single request. Additional features are lost, and others may not vote on them.

  • Oracle SQL Developer with SQL Developer Data Modeler

    Friends,

    I'm trying to understand the differences between Oracle SQL Developer Data Modeler and the possibility to use the SQL Developer Data Modeler.

    I have looked at two home pages produced on OTN, http://www.oracle.com/technology/products/database/datamodeler/index.html & http://www.oracle.com/technology/products/database/sql_developer/index.html and would appreciate your comments on my findings so far

    (1) the Oracle SQL Developer Data Modeler is a paid product stand-a-lone while using the Data Modeler of SQL Developer feature is free

    (2) the Data Modeler in SQL Developer functionality is basically a "viewer" I create my existing table of DR. by dragging in the Modeler in the object browser, but that's all. I can't save the diagram for later use or use to change the structure of the or the tables

    (3) if I need to have 'Oracle Designer' as ERD capability so I need to use Oracle SQL Developer Data Modeler (after purchase!)

    (4) are there other differences that I missed?

    Thanks in advance

    Yes, you've nailed it!

  • Oracle SQL Developer - File, Open, file name do not accept UNC path shape

    In Oracle SQL Developer, at least the file, open (dialogue), the name of the file (if not all the files / directory name) text box (s) is (are) not accepting, at least for me, the UNC form folders on network servers. The same UNC path (or UNC paths in general) work in the file / directory from all other Windows application name text box, I tried (from Windows 95 to Windows 7). Is there a way to do this? If not, it was intentional and where can I suggest this as a fix / development?

    I use Windows XP with SP3.

    Hi 906421-

    SQLDeveloper is written in java and runs on several operating systems. He uses (a derivative of) the standard java file picker. That said, I can see where it would be useful to add support for the UNC.

    You can add this to the Feature Requests to the SQL Developer Exchange. This is not only ensures we remember, but gives other users the chance to bring their vote for the feature and provides a forum for you (the user base) reflect on how you prefer it works.

  • SQL Developer 3 - export truncates the XMLType data

    I am train to export data from and column XMLType & its getting truncated.
    I've tried insert formats, text, html, and csv. Big data gets truncated to 4000 characters, but its not exactly consistent.

    Is this all just not supported in SQL Developer, or am I missing something simple?

    You are right that there is currently a maximum of 4000 characters when exporting large data types.

    You can add your voice to feature requests SQL Developer using feature requests to the SQL Developer Exchange. • A few shorcomings SQL Developer

    Hello

    I use SQL Developer Version 1.5.3. I used the previous version as well. I want to thank the team of SQL Developer for providing such a nice tool, in particular Version 1.5.3.

    However some gaps in SQL Developer, I've lived from TOAD are

    1. If a script stored on disk file is compiled using Toad, then the editor immediately points to the error line, if the script file has a. However, in the case of SQL Developer, he is not pointing error line. It shows only that the package/procedure compiled with warnings. Warnings/errors and where are they in the script file, which is not indicated by the editor. If this functionality is provided in SQL developer, it will be more complete.

    2. them is of no use to compare files. It is often necessary to compare files in development against the file in the prod environment. This functionality is provided in Toad and lack in SQL Developer.

    Please consider the two feature above in future releases.

    Thank you and best regards,
    Sandeep G.

    1 is planned for 2.0 (as for the feature request more vote on the Exchange)
    2 can be done since the 1.5: between the different versions of the same file (using the file editor), or even between different files (using the file browser)

    Kind regards

  • Characters not visible (caused by hitting the bar space or TAB in PL/SQL developer tool) causing slow running query? and database with low performance?

    Hi all

    I need your help to get this issue resolved its urgent and I'm not able to get to the conclusion. Here is my scenario, I'm getting slow query runs because of some non-visible characters that are copied with the application of the PL/SQL developer tool. Please find below attached screenshot: Oracle_Issue

    Oracle_Isssue.png

    Note: This non-visible characters are caused when we write the query then us hit the SPACEBAR or press TAB PL/SQL developer tool

    I use the developer tool PL/SQL to write or test the query. Now I take this request copy paste in my application of the company (who takes this query connects to Oracle or any source of data base, catch data and produce PDF reports for customers).

    Now, my client is the Oracle user when I write and you run this query by the PL/SQL Developer, it works fine, but when I paste in my Inbox feature request (reporting system) and run it, it runs slower and jams to the customer database. Now after a little research I found that when I copy the query directly from PL/SQL developer at my request, he copy some characters not visible (introduced when we press SPACE or TAB in PL/SQL developer tool when writing query) with the request, then I copy this query again to my box of the application Notepad and delete these non-visible characters. Now, after removing the non-visible characters again once I copy backup question in my application and run the query, it works normally. Please find below attached screenshot: Oracle_Issue 2

    Oracle_Isssue_2.png

    So I think that the cause of slow performance is due to some INVISIBLE CHARACTERS present in the query.

    My application uses SQL server 2008-2012 at the backend to store data from different sources.

    Character set used: SQL_Latin1_General_CP1_CI_AS

    To write and test queries: PL/SQL developer tool

    My Client use Oracle 11 g

    Character set used: Normal character: NLS_CHARACTER: AL16UTF16

    National Characeter: NLS_NCHAR_CHARACTER: WE8WIN1521

    I just wanted to know the blocking process to the top of the database and the characters not visible how affecting slow running query of query database.

    Please let me know if I'm missing something or you need more information on this issue.

    Thanks in advance,

    HP

    Simple answer. No.

    Spaces and line breaks do not change the execution plan created. Does not plan to run slower or faster.

  • Auto generate Group By in SQL Developer

    In SQL Developer 4.0.1.14, the option to disable "Autogenerate Group By" has DISAPPEARED from the option page 'insight to completion. "  (Preferences, Code Editor, completion Insight).  I am a teacher of a class in which we do different things with group who go beyond what makes automatic generation.  How can I disable this feature?  When I installed on my laptop, I imported the settings of 3.2, and is not automatically generate.  It is not available to students who have just downloaded SQL Dev 4.  And I can't turn it back on to find a way around it.  Is there a solution?

    The autogenerate value bit is actually no more. It is now group, on request.

    It relates to the analysis of information advice semantic - if you put that supply advice to add group over will not appear.

    I'm talking about this new feature a little here.

  • Elapsed time in sql developer

    Hello

    For the script below how do we get the execution time for package below in sql developer
    set SERVEROUTPUT on
    set timing on
    VARIABLE OND REFCURSOR;
    execute PKG_ISR_CAF_CDNG_ORG_STRUCT.PROC_GETORGNODES_NEW_3959(10005543,'MANAGE', 10006746, :OND);
    PRINT OND;

    Hello

    This seems to be one of those cases where sheet SQL and SQL Developer * more behavior differ. Use of the "timing" on value in SQL * Plus will provide time for both execution of the procedure of a package, but also a call refcursor impression. A SQL Developer worksheet won't display any elapsed time for a SQL * more the print command, but if you replace your run with the following:

    VARIABLE OND REFCURSOR;
    BEGIN
    PKG_ISR_CAF_CDNG_ORG_STRUCT.PROC_GETORGNODES_NEW_3959(10005543,'MANAGE', 10006746, :OND);
    END;
    /
    PRINT OND;

    an elapsed time is then displayed for anonymous block.

    You want to maybe visit the SQL Developer Exchange and add a feature request for this feature if a request does not already exist.

  • SQL Developer and is RAC aware, and not not not using global views

    Dear developers, SQL Developer ,

    Since many features of s/n have been introduced in this tool - by the way, I find very well - I guess that Oracle as well target the DBA. Then, in my humble opinion, this is sad as it is not CARS abreast. I mean, as Session Monitor, lock top SQL reports, etc. should ask the global views views of (GV$) rather local (V$).

    I am convinced that this will greatly enhance adoption of DBA. As it does not resemble this great change, would you consider adding to EA3? I will file an extension request.

    Kind regards
    Olivier.

    Hi Olivier,.

    Adding this as a feature request is the right approach. I know at least some areas of the product already use some views of $ GV, especially in the context of view | Reports. I remember hearing a discussion about CARS-awareness recently, probably about the view. S/n, but I have no idea about any annex or the level of support.

  • How to get rif of old tabs result in SQL Developer 2.1.0.63

    Developer SQL 2.1.0.63 keep all the result of the query in the results in the tabs pane. This is useful when the decline in the results of the previous query. But it is difficult to find the most recent result a few when too many queries have been executed in the session. The news is offset to the right and on the results pane.
    Is there a way to limit the total of the tab and keep that more recent, say, 20 tablets?
    or y at - there a way to remove a bunch of old tablets in one or two clicks?

    I was told that it is a bug. Has it been fixed in a newer version?

    There was actually a bug int the tabs in order to prevent the user to choose when and how to keep them, he always kept tabs regardless of configuration options, it has fixed in the latest version from here 2.1.1.64.45.

    Regarding your request, the only right that options available today is:

    When you right click on a tab to open query result:

    (1) close the active tab.
    (2) close all other tabs.
    (3) close all tabs.

    You can add a feature request to the Exchange to add an option to close all the tabs more than a time or to keep only the most recent 20 tablets that I would have something like that too.

  • SQL Developer export Limitation of CLOB columns

    Hi all

    Anyone happen to know if there is a column size limitation when you export data (excel, text, etc.) in the results of query results pane? It seems to be a limit of 4000 bytes. Specifically, I'm trying to export sql results that contain CLOB which is store XML messages.

    Is this a known limit and if so, is there any hope of this being increased?

    I am using the following:
    Windows XP SP3
    Developer SQL 2.1.0.63 (is also on the 1.5 Branch)
    Server Oracle 10.2.0.4
    Client Oracle 10.2.0.1

    Thank you

    Yes, that's correct.
    If you want improved, add a request to the exchange of SQL Developer, for other users can vote and add weight to the possible future implementation.

  • Feature request: Awesomebar / bookmarks search strictly by tag

    Firefox needs to be able to search ONLY by tag, no content/title match.
    Web developer, I started tagging of bookmarks of sites user experience with the tag "UX". However, I am also a user of Linux with appropriate bookmarks. So, when I try to search both bookmarks or via awesomebar, "UX" brings up TWO points scored "UX" and anything with "Linux" in there. It would be good to have a symbol/prefix that restricts search to the STRICTLY tags, that would allow me to have only the UX elements upwards.

    Hello, you have identified a good point. However, this forum aims to provide support. The appropriate channel for feature request and submit bugs is Bugzilla - https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/

  • Order that SQL Developer Modeler generates objects in DDL download

    Little annoying question... When I have an existing data model that includes all of my table definitions and ALSO my package definitions, I try to make a DDL download and load it into an instance of Oracle 11g and get an error on a procedure declaration does not have a column type.

    What I see is when I open the prepared ddl script, the package is created until the table is under construction.  Is it possible I can tell SQL Developer Data Modeler to build like objects together (table, then sequences and then triggers and packages and procedures/functions?

    SQL Developer Data model version 4.1.3 Oracle database 11g r2...

    Thank you

    Tony Miller
    Los Alamos, NM

    Hi Tony,.

    Data Modeler generates at the beginning of the Package definitions in the DDL file, so that they appear before the objects such as Tables, views, and triggers that may refer to them.

    And the Package body are generated at the end, so that they can refer to Tables and views.

    Unfortunately there is no option to change the sequence of generation.

    In general, the Data Modeler takes dependencies between objects into account to generate the DDL file objects in a proper order.

    However, it does not detect the dependencies TYPE %.  I connected an enhancement request to add to its dependency checking (22581821).

    Kind regards
