  I have been setting up SRM in accordance with the documentation and am at the part where I have a VRM server configured on each side. My next step on the vSphere replication tab is #3 'set up the connection VRMS. When I click on the "Set up the VRMS connection" link I get a dialog box stating: "do you want to configure connection VRMS? I click "Yes" and I get another dialog box stating: "VRM Server generic error. Please see the documentation for troubleshooting information.   think that it is a known bug that should have been in the "known issues" section of the release notes, but did not for a reason that I'm going to check that out in their own country.

  It seems that during the installation of SRM, vCenter was specified by DNS, while during VRMS vCenter configuration was specified by an IP address. These two must match. IE, if you use DNS (FQDN) in one place use it in other institutions. In my setup, I used addresses IP for both entries during the installation process and does not see any problem.

  If you don't you remember how you have defined vCenter in the SRM installation screen, then I guess the quickest test is to redeploy and configure devices VRMS and doing the opposite of what you did just that is to say if you just use FQDN in the VRMS screens when he talking about vCenter using the IP address instead and vice versa.

• CA-signed SSL certificates on vCenter 5.1 installation (server or device)

  I recently updated my 5.0 to 5.1 ESXi ESXi hosts and they all kept CA-signed SSL certificates that I installed previously. I did a new install of vCenter 5.1 server where the box even ran SSO, inventory, vCenter Server and Manager Update Services. After installing, everything worked perfectly except that none of the vCenter services used my CA-signed SSL certificate - only 5.1 ESXi hosts had these.

  So, I followed the instructions in replacing default vCenter 5.1 and ESXi certificates PDF found at http://www.vmware.com/resources/techresources/10318. The document is terrible. For example, page 10 lists the locations by three default certificates SSL on Windows 2008. None of these paths are correct. The first a typo of extra space between "Program" and "Data" and the other two say "Program Files" when they should have been "ProgramData". This is just the beginning of the problems.

  If you follow the instructions to the letter, you'll break vCenter. I got frustrated and thought I'd give the vCenter 5.1 device a shot. With regard to the Certificates SSL signed by CA, it was worse. The vCenter 5.1 device can even automatically generate a new SSL certificate if you change the host name (turn on generation auto-certificat, change of hostname and restart). It gives an error 653 during the boot process and keeps the original of the certificate. Even bother trying the steps on page 18 of the above-mentioned guide - you will get just the same mistake 653.

  It seems to me that VMware did not all tests around the CA-signed SSL certificate on vCenter 5.1 installation. It's amazing to me that the installation of the SSL certificate is so tedious for ESXi and vCenter when vShield Manager 5.1 has a very simple process that works well (and is similar to the installation procedure for Certificate SSL on the DRAC, ASR, breeding various firewalls, etc.).

  I did a lot of research on Google and found various articles on the installation of the SSL certificate, but most were based on GA pre - 5.1 products. If you have any installation of certificates SSL CA-signed success with vCenter Server or device 5.1 GA, let me know how you got around some of these issues. Please indicate if your vCenter Server or device will run on a 5.1 GA ESXi host as well. Please do not answer about vCenter 5.0 - I had no problem with SSL certificates (other than it was more painful to be).

  If you want to use the Update Manager you will have to be installed on a separate windows server, the device has UM built as of yet.

  I was just by reading the documentation and I saw that I need to have vCenter in both places in my SRM deployment. Now I'm on a server. SRM and vCenter co-exist on the same server? Is it still a good idea. I don't have a problem with the purchase of another server if I need to.

  I have a follow-up question on the vCenter licenses. Do I need to purchase a second license for the recovering site vCenter?

  SRM and VCenter can coexist on the same server.  You will see a performance impact when you test your disaster recovery plan.  I think that a lot of achievements have vCenter and SRM on the same server.  If you do not want to take the risk of a performance hit on your vCenter server you might move RS for its own box, but I advise to use a virtual machine instead of another physical server.

  I think that you need a license of vCenter to each site.  If your recovery site hosts only the DR then you can use your existing licenses for ESX.  If your DR will site also its own VM produciton is then you will need full license.

• Replication Server Error: 127.0.0.1:8123

  When I install the server replication through MRS. things work very well until I have to reboot the device. After that, I get the error to 127.0.0.1:8123 Server TCP connection failed.

  All settings in the web user interface seem correct, networking and everything works fine until the machine is restarted. I registered and checked all configs. I can even connect to the device as root and ping the vcenter. I read somewhere that the addition of the vcenter to the hosts file helps, but that did not help either.

  As already commented above:

  VR Server (process hbrsrv) listens on this port.

  Please file a support request and attach logs in/opt/vmware/hms/logs/and also support VR server bundle (execution support-hbrsrv - bundle.sh and copy the tmp/hbrsrv-...tgz file).

  The hbrsrv support beam will include live core of the process, so that the team inside VMware can deepen.

  Thanks again for your help.  This problem has been resolved.  I uninstalled the old bluetooth drivers and reinstalled from the following link, I'm not sure why they failed the first time, but good.

  Since you're on BES, you really should work with your BES admin... they have a lot of things and it is possible that they apply an expiration that you aren't aware of the control.

  What kind of error you see on the server of TMS? Maybe the ist possible to fix it?

  Before you replace your server TMS device, you need schedule downtime for maintenance.

  You should back up your sql database and the agent MSDS database. Then install the new TMS server with the corresponding version of the former and restore and backup agent MSDS database. You can then enable replication again.

  Keep in mind that the TMS appliance server is EOL and EOS, but also you can be able to take advantage of the Cisco migration program.

  According to the error message, local storage of the physical host has run out of disk space due to unit VDP growing (thin provisioned) data disc "Data Protection 6.0_1.vmdk". Backups require more than currently available disk space, so there is not a lot of options available. You must either increase the data store to which this virtual disk is stored, or migrate to another, more department store of data if you want to continue to run backup jobs as they are currently configured.

• SRM 5.1.1 - multiple entries of plugin

  Hi all -

  I recently deployed a multi-site SRM 5.1 configuration.  (2) sites are tipping toward a recovery site.  All sites seem to be running OK - VM reserved spaces are on the DR site and I don't see any problems.  However, on the site of production (1), (2) plugin entries appear when I try to load the plugin SRM.  Here's what it shows:

  

  When I load either of the SRM IDs, it loads the same SRM site.  I tried to restart the server vCenter, SRM server and uninstall and reinstall the extension of the SRM on the vCenter server that did not help.  I would like to somehow remove the < default > option of entry when I charge RS.  Is it possible to do this easily?  Thank you!
