vSphere essential price request.

Hello.

I have a question for vSphere 5 kit bulk price.

VMware vSphere Essentials Kit for 3 guests (Max 2 processors per host) + 1 year membership

What is say this subscription for 1 year?

I renew license every year?

Yes, but when you buy the kit of essentials, you will automatically have a year of active support. Then after a year if you do not renew the contract of assistance you can always have your license, but not access to the support. If you cannot upgrade your host or contact support in case of problems.

Kind regards

Julien

  • A new doubt on the license - VMware vSphere Essential Kit

    Hi guys,.

I play virtualize physical servers in the company I work (about 10 smaller servers).

To start some tests, I bought a Dell r.620 server with two processors and 64 GB of RAM.

I think buy just one license of VMware vSphere Essential Kit, just to test some features, management, and support provided by VMware.

My doubt is: to support all the RAM (64 GB), I have purchase a license of the vSphere Essential Kit, or I need TWO?

I'm a little confused on how much physical RAM memory on a single server, the vShpere Essential Kit can handle.

OK, I know I can use a free version. But this test server will be transformed into a production server, and that the price of the vSphere Essential Kit is very good, I would buy it and start my test as a test of "production"...

Guys, sorry for my bad English, it is not my mother tongue. =(

    Thanks much for any help.

    Hi Alex,

Since you are doing a test on a single server so a Kit should be good at this point. In addition to Essential Kit do not fully support 64 GB of RAM so no need to buy two. Only the free versions have limits in support of only 32 GB of RAM.

Diagram below will give you a good idea on the different Kits.

Also, you can read about licensing and prices here: http://www.vmware.com/files/pdf/products/vsphere/VMware-vSphere-Pricing-Whitepaper.pdf

  • Migration of storage in vSphere essential Plus

I have to migrate my VM (12 machines - for a total of 70 GB) out of an AIRLOCK SAN to a new iSCSI SAN and I vSphere 4.0 more essential. At the same time, I have to upgrade to vSphere 4.1 most essential and so I was wondering if it was possible that after upgrade, I have again a period of trial license complete migration of VM perfom. Is it possible?

If not, what you are suggesting to perfom this migration (a sudden - storage vmotion does not serve me in the future)? I have to re - install host?

If you perform a clean installation of ESX (i) do not assign a license to it immediately, then it CAN work.   In any case, you can close the virtual machine and copy it in where it should be then once it is upgrade each host.  Try and them at the same time is not if there are questions, you will know that you have made.

  • vSphere Client Login request

I just installed a new environment and everything works fine, I added to active directory to vsphere using the web client, I noticed something on our system which I'm not sure how install you

By connecting to our system, we DO NOT have to type domain\user - we can get away with just type in user name (which is an AD account) and password.

Is there a way or setting this up for users do not have to type in user domain\username?

Any help would be received with gratitude :-)

    Hello

in the web client, go to:

    Administration-> Single Sign - On-> Configuration-> identity Sources tab

Select your Windows domain and click 'Set as Default domain' - button

You should not need to enter the domain name after that.

  • Update ESXi 4 to VSphere essential Trial

I'm a bit confused here and would appreciate your help. I have two computers ESXi 4 all together upward (through the help I've been out here).

My next step will be to upgrade one (or two) of these ESXi 4 on VSphere Essentials servers so I can try

various strategies of backup on them. I have it in mind to use Veritas Backup Exec on one to save the methods virtual hard on the other.

Where I'm confused, how I will spend one or two of these computers to the 60 day trial of VSphere Essentials.

    1. I am downloading the VMWare VSphere evaluation software. My understanding is that it was really not necessary

because all I had to do was get a license key for VSphere Essentials, put it in through the VSphere Client and voila! -J' would have a

VSphere Essentials server for 60 days. When the 60 days has increased, the server would automatically return to free ESXi.

    2. I don't really have to do another installation of the VSphere demo software I download on my ESXi servers, I do? If I did I think that would blow my existing virtual.

How does this work? Where can I get the keys, that I need to update my 4 Essentials ESXi servers? Or always do 'demos' here

Go directly to the full version of VSphere?

Thank you for your continued support!

    Mike Gallery

Moving between the levels of license is just a matter of changing the license. There is no necessary relocations. For the trial version it is possible to move between the free under the license and Enterprise Plus by selecting without license in the configuration tab. Once the 60 days have passed, however, you will not be able to use the features of Enterprise Plus only the free hypervisor.

  • Manual backup of VSphere essential Plus 5.

    Hi all,

a very simple question. I need to do, each month, a cold backup of my virtual machines. I want to do it manually.

Is it enough if I copy the .vmx and vmdk files only or is it better if I copy all the files in the folder of the virtual machine?

    Thank you, goodbye.

Is it enough if I only copy the .vmx and vmdk files

Files vmdk contains the actual data of the virtual machine, so it must be saved, jut VMX files contain the configuration information for the virtual machine and it's easy to create if the vmdk files are present.

But if I want to exclude a virtual disk for the backup, I can't do it with the procedure of 'export model OVF '.

OVF option exports all content of the VM files in compressed format.

What exactly is the purpose of doing it manually?

Everyone prefers to was an automatic that manual, if you're objective is to perform a backup to take a glance at this ghettoVCB.sh - alternative free to backup s VM to ESX (i) 3.5, 4.x & 5.x

  • Working at the Player VM image but not the vSphere

    Hi all

I downloaded the Cloudera Quickstart 5.7 VM image and it works well on VM Player but does not work through vSphere.  I have downloaded all the files for the data store, right-click on the file in VMX to save it but when I turn on the virtual machine it says that it cannot find the VMDK file.  I checked the paths and everything seems fine for me.  I also removed the hard drive from the config and added it but who doesn't either.  I have included a picture of the error message I get from hovering over the error in the Web Client vSphere.

    Cloudera VM error.png

I use vSphere essentially 6.0.  The VMDK is divided into 17 files with "s001' thru 's017" at the end of the file name, and there is a file name which is without the suffix.  When I download the last of 18 files all files "sXXX" disappear it is a single VMDK showing - I guess that vSphere worked it's a disc more of 17 files divided.

I have another VM on the host/server underlying data store is fine.

    Any help very welcome!

    Best regards, Jim Hudd.

After a lot of searching on Google and a little for being smart, I worked on how to get this race.  Is there something on rare records, who dislikes the host EXSi in accordance with article (https://kb.vmware.com/selfservice/microsites/search.do?language=en_US&cmd=displayKC&externalId=2045616).  I had to do something slightly different from the explanation to the problem; instead of cloning of disk space (files *.s001), I had to clone the main VMDK file.  This has created a VMDK single flat file, allowing the virtual machine run.  As a quick guide to fix this problem:

    • Open a command shell to the ESXi host
    • The virtual machine directory
    • Take a copy of the VMDK files (just in case!)
      • mkdir orig
      • CP * orig vmdk
    • clone the disks to a new flat VMDK file
      • vmkfstools-i
        thin d | thick
    • Remove the old VMDK files
    • Remove the original virtual machine hard disk
    • Add a new hard drive for the virtual computer by using the new VMDK file

    Hope this helps someone else.

    Jim.

  • Upgrade free version of Essential Kit

    Hello

Can I put my free ESXi installation to vSphere Essential Kit, or what I have to install it again.

    We head to the front.

The answer to this is nice and simple. Apply the license key that will activate paying for features.

You can build your first vCenter Server (if you do not have one) and then apply the keys to vCenter, makes it a little easier if there is more than one host.

I already had a host with ESXi 6.0 and I tried to use my existing on this host 6.0 Essentials Plus Kit License, but it does not work. I have to upgrade my license key? What are my options?

    VMware vSphere license key update

You must obtain new licenses to deploy VMware vSphere 6.0. VMware vSphere 4.x and 5.x existing licenses vSphere will not work on vSphere 6.0.

  • Upgrade free ESXi 4 to vSphere

    Hi guys!

My company wants to upgrade to vSphere essential ESXi 4 server. Do we not have to reinstall ESXi 4 our we can activate only the servers in the section "allowed"? I have another problem. Could we manage all servers with a single client vSphere after this update?

And another question about Vmware data recovery. This feature as I see only available for the most part more. What is the GUI for ESXi backup system?

    Thank you for the answers!

    Kind regards

VCB can make backup of virtual machines running, but using VMware snapshots.

And, if so, pre and post trigger scripts to run in the virtual machine.

    Re: license VM

I would like first of all you can check the local partner of VMware (like us).

Secondly, I personally think that essential vSphere + is enough.

Third, you physical server in option 2 has 2 CPU. But the quote that quote 1. Please let your seller!

The easy way to do it is to buy server with VMware licence from the same provider.

example: purchase of Dell with vSphere essential plus, do it online.

for example, buy HP, let them quote with premium support.

    For the price, can't me!

I am a consultant system only. You must quote from the sale!

What controller you have installed in your T110 II?   If it's a S100 or S300, it will only run Windows.   You may have damaged your Windows installation and you have to start over. .

If you want to run Linux, you will need to change the RAID controllers.

  • How many guest operating system by product?

I try to understand how the OS, I can run on the following products:

    -vSphere Essential Kit

    -vSphere Standard

Is there a maximum ore, license only material limitation?

With this permit I really need to buy the server vShere?

The essential Kit is a license for three servers and up to 6 CPU

The standard is licensed per processor.

I am looking for a stable virtualization for the operating system prompted with different functions. vMotion, DSR are not necessary right now. We focus on

virtual on servers, machines connected to an iSCSI storage device.

We want to use MacPro because we want to virtualize OS X Server Systems.

    This thought with me.

There is no maximum allowed, just the physical limitation. (even if you can't have more than 480 logic by the host processor and not more than 128 vCPU per VM and max 1024 virtual machines per host, see vSphere 6.0 maximum of Configuration).

You can start with the Essentials licenses and let them Essentials Plus, Standard or Enterprise when you need for more features or more guests.
