vWorkspace 8.0.1 Linux deployment

Hello

I am trying to create 20-30 CentOS VM on the farm VDI vWorkspace for CS students do an apprenticeship on CentOS. I have trouble finding instructions on how to do it. I found some instructions on the link below for VDE, but I'm unable to configure Linux and I can deploy it via connector vWorkspace to our students. For example in the guide below his allusion to some prep vwts scripts that I ache to locate. No idea if there are How - to's on how to successfully deploy Linux?

Note: Students need not GUI/desktop experience in CentOS, they are OK with power of SSH for virtual machines.

Link: http://us-downloads.quest.com/Repository/support.quest.com/vWorkspace/8.0.1/Documentation/vWorkspace%20Virtual%20Desktop%20Extensions/7.7/vWorkspace_VirtualDesktopExtensionsForLinux_7.7_AdminGuide.pdf

Hello

The VDE 7.7 you downloaded on your machine model? You can download here:

https://support.software.Dell.com/download-install-detail/5075773?prodjid=1-7GCB8-423

In this download is a file called VDEFORLINUX\Provisioning

Choose the folder for CentOs, 'EL', in here will be the vwts script you need.

Which version of CentOS you try to deploy? We currently support only 5.9 and 6.4 but supoprt 6.5 will be available soon.

I hope this helps!

Thanks, Sam

  • vWorkspace with Novell eDirectory

    Hi all

VWorkspace can be proposed and deployed in a unique environment of Novell eDirectory? I came across these 2 post http://en.community.dell.com/techcenter/virtualization/vworkspace/b/vworkspace-blog/archive/2012/07/19/qwdv-vworkspace-7-6-feature-spotlight-user-profiles-in-novell-environments andhttp://en.community.dell.com/techcenter/virtualization/vworkspace/b/vworkspace-blog/archive/2010/09/28/temporary-client-assignment discussed both on user profile management and virtual office assignment for Novell environment. What concerns me, is the provision of virtual offices, because I think that part of the process will attempt to reach the office configured in Active Directory. Would it still work if Active Directory is non-existence in a Novell environment? Of other "witch hunt" or limitations that you guys met in the application vWorkspace in a pure Novell environment?

Thanks for any advice in advance

    Kind regards

    Hi Cyrill

"Can vWorkspace be proposed and deployed in a unique environment of Novell eDirectory?

    short answer: no

I have install vWorkspace 7.6. desktops for Novell to logon.

In my setup the Machines (Hyper-V, vWorksapce broker, office computers) are deployed in AD.

The InstantProvisioning Service on the needs of the virtual office AD joined computer objects. I Recomment InstantProvisioning on Sysprep. Changes to the Master model I have just started the master of the domain joined to make changes and make a "slmgr.vbs /rearm' new import model - stop - that's all. No sysprep or anything here.

How then to provide Novell to logon for users?

They need to connect with vWorkspace - there will be a commercial or Windows account local (Version 7.6). I use a local model Windows account on the Machine broker vWorkspace and pre-fill the identification information in the Web Site of WebAccess.

I will not use the fake account of Windows for Office Access because this could lead to Sessions exceeded in the worst case.

    To achieve this:

    I disable pncredprov.dll on desktop

Configure computers to use the RDP security layer - this will bring up the Interactive home for logon screen.

Real logon is done by a combination of pgina.org and the Novell Client. Page provides LDAP authentication, and creates a local user of Windows on the desktop. Novell Client in passthrough mode will make Novell authentication - seemless to the user.

In this case we don't need user profiles. Instead, I use a "pre-defined" for the newly created user profile. Configure computers to return to service after logout - it's one thing to go simple.

vWorkspace 8 with 'anonymous' functionality could be useful. I think that AD is always necessary for computer accounts and InstantProvisioning.

    Best regards

  • Deploy the debugging token: no route to host

I'm using Linux, deploying a token of debugging on a BlackBerry Z10.

The mode of development, the dev what IP posted on the parameters is 169.254.1.1

    I use the following command: blackberry - deploy - installDebugToken debugtoken.bar - device 169.254.1.1 - password

And I have the following output:

Error: Unable to connect: no route to host. Check the settings of IP address for the target. Try to ping the target.

I can't ping the device from the device using a 169.254.x.x network, unfortunately I am using a 192.168.1.x network.

I have no firewall, no VPN and the unit is plugged in USB.

169.254 network cannot be changed on the unit.

I tried to force my Linux network config, so that I have the following text:

    # ifconfig

    eth1 Link encap HWaddr 00:10:18:31:68:60
    INET addr:169.254.1.2 Bcast:169.254.255.255 mask: 255.255.0.0

    Interruption: 18

But still, I can't ping the device...

    What did I miss?

It seems that the device is properly connected to your computer, and networking has been correctly configured. However, the messages that you have found, and the lack of support of ping suggests there is still a network problem prevents you from reaching the unit.

Did you set it to 'Storage and access' mode 'Windows '? "Windows" mode is RNDIS, which works perfectly and 'Mac' mode (and perhaps her detected) are ECM and has some problems with some linux configurations.

You can reach the exit of "route ip get 169.254.1.1"? For my part, I see

    169.254.1.1 dev usb0 CBC 169.254.1.2
    cache

Your network (192.168. *) should not affect your debug configuration, unless your network is a 169.254. * network.

  • deployment of static html files (for the documentation of the application)

I'm developing with forms 11g for windows and linux deployment.

I want to deploy my application help documentation, I've already migrated from hlp to html / css.

Now, I would like to know where I can deploy only the html files to invoke with web.showdocument (for example).

What relative path of the url in the web.showdocument is built in?

I can the jar as I did with the icons?

    OK, thanks anyway,

The problem is with my setup of weblogic, because it is a windows developer position.

I will send instructions to the sysadmin and try to do it in linux deployment server.

I also tried with WLExcludePathOrMimeType, as read in the manual of this

    Note:

When including those defined by the user aliasMatch with the prefix /forms/ in forms.conf , add the directive WLExcludePathOrMimeType . For example, under Linux, when you set the aliasMatch to /forms/usericons in forms.conf , the directive WLExcludePathOrMimeType is defined as follows:

    AliasMatch /forms/usericons/(..*) "/home/userx/myicons/$1" WLExcludePathOrMimeType /forms/usericons/

  • Best practices running like a virtual Linux machine

We are a boutique Wintel and decided to start looking to support Linux guests.  I have no real knowledge of linux and how it works as a guest operating system.  Are there recommended for installation, configuration and performance around Linux?

I found a few documents (http://www.vmware.com/files/pdf/linux_install_config.pdf and http://www.vmware.com/pdf/vi_performance_tuning.pdf), but wanted to get some opinions of real life.  I also know that's a broad question, but what is the typical Linux deployed VM in regarding resources.  Would be a 2vCPU be 4 GB of RAM by default good installation? I know most of the answers will be 'it depends', but I'm a real novice with linux all suggestions and criticisms are welcome.

    Our environment:

    vCenter4.0.0U1

    ESX4.0.0U1

    2 8 nodes on IBM x 3650 M2 Intel x 5570 (16 processors, logical and 128 GB of RAM by)

Emulex HBA connection to a Hitachi USPV

More information can be provided, if necessary

    Thanks again!

I also propose to use distribution supported (just to get support is that something goes wrong) and always install the VMware Tools.

Do not use VMI on 32 bit, cause in the future is removed.

You will also find a lot of tuning, like this:

    http://www.fewt.com/2008/06/performance-tuning-VMware-Server-on.html

But I saw no difference, so I suggest to keep things simple and just install the VMware Tools, use supported distro, do good design VM (minimum number of vCPU, good Mem,...)

Also note that Linux usually use vRAM in an aggressive manner (compared to Windows 2003).

  • How to deploy a rdf on linux with library report attached

    Forms and reports 11.1.2.1

We develop on windows and deploy on linux.

We work with rdf files, send them to linux and there they are functioning normally.

Now, I have a file rdf with a library attached. I opened the file with the windows generator, compile all the save, he brings to linux, but at runtime, I get this error:

REP-1247 will find no compiled plsql

    The plx is in reports_path.

Do I have to compile the report to linux?

    I answer myself:

If you want to have the rdf compiled at run time, you must have the available pll (the plx is not enough).

So, if you don't want to deploy the pll, you will need to convert the rdf in rep (have the pll at hand at that time of compilation).

What could be the problem? The app has not changed, it is the environment.

After that Googling autour, I found the problem had to do with the syntax.

    For example, on:

    http://StackOverflow.com/questions/7110563/GlassFish-v3-cant-deploy-MessageDriven-bean-missing-destination-JNDI-name

I got the same error. The problem was:

    @ActivationConfigProperty (propertyName = "destination", propertyValue = "jms/SampleTopic")

    This need to be

    @ActivationConfigProperty (propertyName = "destination", propertyValue = "SampleTopic")

Can whe´re I set this property?

Whe´re is the configuration file of Glassfish?

Could someone guide me through this?

    Thanks in advance.

    Peter,

    I found the domain.xml file. ~/glassfish4/GlassFish/domains/Domain1/config/domain.XML

In this file, I wasn't able to find anything on the com.sun.appserv. *. packages.

The software allows to work with this default file (on a Mac).

With the asadmin terminal I tried to add custom resources.

And they appear whe. After you restart glassfish no different result.

The application deployment guide https://glassfish.java.net/docs/4.0/application-deployment-guide.pdf mentionned on glassfish ejb - jar.xml and ejb - jar.xml.

I couldn't find these files for version 3.1.

    http://docs.Oracle.com/CD/E26576_01/doc.312/e24929/dd-files.htm#GSDPG00080

But the app was capable on running with the default settings, so without these files.

    What can I check next?

We have 2 of linux and windows server 1.

on linux, I am planning to install foundation, Essbase and planning.

and in windows I intend to install HFM and FDMEE.

now my question is when you perform the configuration for HFM and FDMEE, I need to deploy the java web application for HFM and FDMEE on windows.

so everything by deploying web applications in java on windows that I put a different name for "domain name".

as linux domain name will be 'EPMSystem', so for windows it would be different as 'EPMSystem1'.

There will be no problem if the domain names are the same for both linux and windows?

and for weblogic server port must be different as 7001 on linux and 7002 on HFM?

  • Hi everyone, I want to formsweb.cfg deployment forms 10g Linux PLZ

In my business, we changed all the clients for Linux (Ubuntu) but still Windows Server OS, I want to deploy forms 10 g on the client PC, but I do not know the modifications needed to formsweb.cfg

This has nothing to do with Linux; 10 gr 2 forms just does not work with JRE7 (or newer) by default.

I'm not the exact patchlevel you but to obtain forms gr 10, 2 running with JRE7 and higher, you will need to ask the last group of patches 10.1.2.3 and the latest patches of all sheets. In order to get them, you need a support contract to download from MOS (support.oracle.com).

Note that even if it will work with the latest patches Forms 10 g 2 is not certified with Java7 or Java8.

If you do not have a support contract so the only chance you have is upgrade to the latest forms - 11.1.2.2.

    see you soon

  • Hyperion 11.1.2.3 Linux based components of server deployment and windows system

    Hello

I'm new and this is perhaps a delicate question.  I am trying to wrap my head around this idea, is it possible to correctly install Hypeiron planning on linux? The hyperion java web application and especially the services of the Foundation can be installed under linux.

However some server such as the dimension epma server components can only be deployed on windows. What this means is optimal only installs Hyperion Planning on windows servers? To keep all components on a single server? There are stories where some parts of Hyperion was deployed for linux AND windows?  There was a small section in the installation guide of PMC 11.1.2.3 on page 151, but we didn't know about how windows and linux would work together.

Let me know if I need to clear up any confusion about my question.

    Thank you!

Hyperion works in mixed mode OS. For the deployment of Web applications, you must deploy all on Windows or Linux.

On page 151, its about HFM. If you have HFM as the source for the FR or Web analysis reports, you must install & config HFM, EN/WebAnalysis under Windows to create the new Weblogic domain.

If you do not have HFM in your deployment, you need not worry.

    Kind regards

    Santy
