"WARNING: no pixel selected" with the magic wand

Details:

Product: Adobe Photoshop CS5 64-bit

OS: Windows 7 64-bit

I'm working on the application of a coating that is textured to a field of hexagons, but not for their "Grout", i.e. the border thickness between each hexagonal "mosaic". I made a selection of the "Grout" and then reversed so that now my hexes were selected, make a new layer filled with black, and then using the magic wand tool, I deselected about 2/3 of the selections in Allen. Apply noise, motion blur, makes a fine metal grain. Invert the selection, remove the excess black, then reverse and save the selection. Define as overlay, super good. Then layer, load my selection of the Hexagon, 1/3 of the responsible for the selection of France that I've done before (so I do not apply two textures on any of a hexagon) and I get about 2/3 of the hexagons selected. New layer, fill it with black, just like the last time. Except that... when I use my magic wand to deselect, I get ' WARNING: No. Pixels were selected "and I lose the entire selection. Can I deselect using square or the quick selector, but not the magic wand. Now I well recorded and could recreate so no real work is lost, but it is easier deselect each Hexagon bit (there a LOT of them) with the magic wand of monstroustly. Why this suddenly is upward?

Thank you for your time,

Charles DiGiovanna

How is the box to sample all layers [] at the top of the main window of Photoshop?

If it is not checked, the wand will only use the data on the layer that is currently selected.

  • White on white selection with the magic wand of refining

I'm trying to remove the background of a picture of BW - one model posing in front of a white background.

Select with the magic wand works fine except on the area where the light on the model wears the white skin. When I choose, I get the hand and the lower part of the arm (see below) but miss the box top, completely white. I tried all kinds of settings and also tried to increase the contrast with a brightness/contrast layer, but nothing I I understand allows me to keep the arm and remove the bottom with the arm.  FWIW, the image cannot be redone.

How can I do? Thanks for any help.

Learn how masking... Also in white when mixed in a layer with the blending mode multiply does not change.  So, if you add a new layer on top of your image and set its blending mode to multiply. You will see your arm starts to show through. Add a maske layer to this layer and paint with black to show the lower arm of the layer by hiding the top layer on the arm area.

  • How can I remove the gaps when pasting and select with the magic wand?

Anti-aliasing is turned off however, there are gaps. How can I stop this? This problem occurred recently, as a few days ago, I've been able to copy and paste without gaps.

I select a part of the image then copy and paste into a new layer in the same position, then I select the inverse of the image newly pasted the selection back to previous and Coptic image, the other party, and paste it into a new layer.

The gap is between the tank and the plants (see image)

Sometimes, these lines appear if you are not 100% like c.pfaffenbichler said, it can also be the way that your graphics card is reading the info, as often, when you flatten layers, the line will disappear. One thing you can do is to develop the selection of 1 px on the layer which will be the bottom. This will give you a bit of overlap.

  • How to move the selection from the magic wand of 2 pixels tool to take off the edges?

    Hello

I am trying to make a selection with the magic wand tool and move the edges of the selection by a pixel or two, but the button "refine edge" does not seem to do anything.  I want to cut a pixel on the edge of an image that I cut into another image.  Any help would be great thanks.

Depending on whether you have selected the image or the background, use Select > modify > expand your selection or select > modify > contract selection

  • Hide always selectable items with the magic wand tool

When I want to cut a piece of an image, I create a mask on the layer of the image with paint on anything, but the point I want to keep. Something changed and I can choose is no longer this element remains in the layer after I applied the layer mask and painted essentially the everytyhing else.

For example if I wanted an Apple carved into a tree, I've painted all in black except apple, which left white in the mask. After you apply the mask on the layer, I should be able to click in the empty space around the Apple with my magic wand tool and they have to make a perfect around apple selection, but the magic wand tool straightens always leaves, branches, etc. Even if I painted out them and apply the mask, is essentially delete them and all that I can see the gray and white checkerboard grid behind Apple. It makes me crazy!

It's Photoshop CS6 and it was working fine before. Changed something without realizing it?

    Thank you...

Maybe you painted the mask with a very dark black than gray. Apply this mask would leave the color in the pixels, but they are almost completely transparent. The magic wand would always detect the color in the pixels.

Another possibility is that you have accidentally reduced the density of the mask slightly in the properties panel when the mask was targeted.

  • Can you after you have selected a picture with the magic wand just delete the background, leaving only the photo?

Can you after you have selected a picture with the magic wand, just delete the background, leaving only the photo?

Or should we use layers to achieve?

    I use Adobe Elements 8.

    Thank you

    Martin

What is your intention to delete the background - replace the white background transparency or others?

Keep in mind that if you delete on the background layer (the default name), deletion is replaced by the current color set in the chip of background color as shown in the toolbar. By default, it is white, so if you are selection and deletion of a white background you will end up with white again. If you want that transparency first change the background to a normal layer Layer renaming.

I don't remember a quick selection tool in Illustrator. Are you sure it was in Illustrator?

  • Can someone help me with the magic wand tool please?

Last night I select images as small as teeth and now it won't let me select anything small using this tool.  It selects random points in the image, no matter what tolerance is set on and it's okay if I have the contiguous, anti-aliasing and taste layer checked boxes.  I do not know if I clicked on something or have settled on something that does not allow small objects to define.  Please help me!

    Thank you.

    Katie

OK, the next thing to make sure you are on the image layer, you try to use the wand on. If this layer is a transparency on another image, make sure that you do not have the sample audited all the layers.

  • Lasso tool polygon binding angles trying to add to the selection with the SHIFT key

Since upgrading (downgrading?) of Photoshop CS6 Extended Photoshop CC I have a problem with the lasso tool of polygon limited at certain angles when you try to add to a selection.

Here's the scenario, I select a color background with the magic wand tool, then I would like to add a few things to the selection, so I click on the polygon lasso tool and hold the SHIFT key to add to the playlist and then start to use the polygon lasso tool... often very randomly the polygon lasso tool will limit his movements to a 90 degree angle Sometimes something that seems like an angle of 30 degrees and sometimes he'll do any.

I'm doing something wrong or is this a bug?

The SHIFT key has two functions in the creation of a selection.  The first is as you know to add to any selection using another selection tool.  The second is forced to angles in drawing and selection, but also rotation tools.  So for your example, you have to hold down the SHIFT key when you click on to add to your selection using the polygon lasso tool, but after making the first click with the tool, Photoshop knows that you want to add to the selection.  So do not hold the SHIFT key after the first click, otherwise Photoshop assumes that you also want to compel the angles drawing of your choice.  (Unless that's what you really want to)

  • Adjust the tolerance in the magic wand has no effect?

Working in a file in RGB mode, trying to select the white space around lineart, but it seems that my tolerance with the magic wand tool is stuck on zero, even if I max out.

I just installed CC today, so if there is a difference between the editions, would be delighted if someone could point me in the right direction.

I do not see your layers palette is the layer with the transparent top drawing (for example you are transparent sampling, not white)?  I also had similar problems when I had accidentally on a layer mask, not the layer itself.   Double check your layers and the ' sample all layers ' to smile.

  • Issue using the Magic Wand selection tool in Photoshop CS6

I m following a tutorial to learn the basics of photoshop and I m stuck on the magic wand tool, while doing a very simple task. I'm trying to select the white background of the image and then pressing on delete to remove it and make duck yellow transparent image.

But when I press the button remove key a window opens and the eyedropper tool is selected. And when I press DELETE, while the background is filled with the yellow color of the duck. Please look at the picture and let me know how I can fix this.magic-wand-tool-issue.jpg

And when I press on enter, this is what happens:

    yellow-rubber-duck.jpg

This happens because you are working on the background layer which is special in Photoshop. What you need to do, is make a regular layer by double clicking with the ALT key or double clicking and pressing ok. Incidentally that's going to happen with any selection tool not only the magic wand. Hope that helps

  • How to use the magic wand to select in the active artboard only - CS5

I ran into a problem that I think already has a solution. I have a layout with 7 work plans, each a variation on a design logo. I want to choose a specific color, but only in the active work plan. The wand seems to be the right choice, but I see no way to specify this. All the efforts that I do, the color is selected in each work plan there. I know that select all can limit its scope to the active artboard by adding the option to the command key, but see no equivalent for the magic wand. Did I miss something or Illustrator lack the ability?

Use blocking or hide to make a selection.

    1. Draw a box around the elements on an artbaord
    2. Select > Inverse
    3. Object > Lock
    4. (use your magic wand and that your changes)
    5. Object unlock everything
  • Mask and the magic wand in the Select

In Using Photoshop / select and mask Workspace for 2015.5 CC, it is said after the launch of Select and mask workspace allowing, "a selection tool such as the Lasso, magic wand, or quick selection. Now click on select and mask in the Options bar. "But when I run S & M, the magic wand is not available. Is it possible to add it?

    Martin

If you mean the magic wand tool, no. There is only the regular lasso tool and the quick selection in the selection and the mask tool.
