Watlow F4 HS USB GPIB communication problem

Hello

I'm trying to communicate with the Watlow F4 controller on a room of environmental Tenney. The only available is a GPIB port. I've successfully installed the GPIB-USB-HS cable and I can see this device under devices and interfaces MAX. However, no instrument find when scanning for default settings of the interface GPIB instruments. I also downloaded the Watlow F4 VI drivers and try to run away. I got a 1073807346 error occurred at VISA opened in Watlow F4.lvlib:Initialize.vi-> up.vi set Watlow F4 system

I use Labview 8.5.1 with 488.2, VISA, DAQmx installed.

Please see the pictures attached for more details. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Try the VI is useless if the instrument is not detected by MAX. I suggest that refer you to the manual or the seller to see if there is something you need to do on the instrument for GPIB communication.

  • GPIB-USB-HS and USB-8451 communication issues - appearing only in VISA

    Hello

I recently started a new job and have had communication problems between my adapter GPIB-USB-HS, my VISA or MAX-Labview and USB-8451 I2C/SPI interface.  I installed LabView to 32 bits, OR-488. 2, the driver for the 8451 on my windows desktop and VISA 16.0 7.

In the windows Device Manager, the 8451 appears as a device USB of NI-VISA and Gbspecifications FOR-USB-HS presents itself as a GPIB Interface of NOR.  Two of these instruments are recognized NI Max so but communication Gbspecifications FOR add-in adapter (and connected instruments) fails and he can't find the instruments and the self-test fails with a hardware error unknown gpib (-37052).  The watch also neither device VISA Interactive Control.

The ready light is lit on the GPIB-USB adapter and the 8451 flashes green as if nothing is wrong at the end.  I uninstalled all the software of NOR and reinstalled, and I run MAX as an administrator.  Is there possibly some computer settings I could neglect or need to change to open a communication?  Any other ideas on why I can't communicate with devices?

    Thank you!

This is a device-Lock software that my it was preinstalled on the computer blocks the USB port.  SHE has added features like confidence, and now it works.

  • Communication problem series with USB serial Hub

Hi, I have a communications problem when I use an NI USB - 232 (778472 - 01) adapter to control a pressure sensor. There are a lot of posts about it in the forum, but I calmly something a little different. I can't use MAX to control the instrument with the VISA test Panel. So I guess that the USB-232 driver is correctly installed. However, in labivew, even if I choose the instrument source of visa name, it always returns an error (-1073807339) when I run the program. The screenshot of the labview program is attached. Could someone kindly help me with this problem. Thank you very much.

The system is XP SP 3 Pro.

The version of Labview is 8.6.

    The MAX version is 4.5.0f0.

If port by default windows settings exactly match the settings you need for communication, you can get lucky and it will work.  If only one parameter is different, it won't work.

It is always better to define the parameters in your code.

    Shane.

  • Problem does not occur when it is not connected USB so that it looks like some sort of communication problem. The L355 worked perfectly.

    Hello

I recently installed an Epson L555 instead of my Epson L355, which worked well with my software windows 7 and my BACK program based. However, whenever the L555 turned the printer just keeps ejecting the hopper pages until it is empty. On the menu screen, it says "printing", but there is nothing in the print queue and I didn't send anything to be printed. Sometimes it reads "Fax set auto answer. By pressing the Stop/Reset button stops the ejection pages and "Cancel" is displayed on the screen. This continues for about 2-3 minutes, then the pages start ejected again. Problem does not occur when it is not connected USB so that it looks like some sort of communication problem. The L355 worked perfectly.

  • Possible GPIB communication through interactive control of Visa, not with Labview

    Hello

I have a communication problem with Labview with GPIB instruments (with functions of visa).

    I get:

"Error 1073807298 occurred at the VISA opening

    Possible reasons:

"VISA: (Hex 0xBFFF003E) failed to perform operation due to i/o error."

However, it works with an interactive control visa and this is where I am confused!

    Here is my setup:

    -Labview 2011 assessment

    -VISA 5.1.2

KUSB - 488B with the associated drivers (adapter USB to GPIB of Keithley)

Because I can speak with my instruments in visaic, I guess the installation of drivers for the Keithley interface is ok.

Trace IO NOR I see beeing of commands passed through Labview to VISA so that they "see" between them.

I found a thread where someone had the same problem and its solution was downgrade to Labview 8.5.1, which is not possible for me.

    http://forums.NI.com/T5/instrument-control-GPIB-serial/Keithley-2700-driver-problems/TD-p/1474212/PA...

You have an idea to solve this problem?

    Kind regards

    Baptist

    Here's a follow-up on this issue.

I tried with Labview 32-bit on main machine: it works.

The pleasure is that I have to use Labview 64-bit.

So the ultimate solution is now to run a client and a server of visa on the machine: Labview 32 bit can directly access my resources GPIB, Labview 64-bit must go through the closure of the network.

  • Data acquisition using the USB-GPIB 82357 B interface for 4395 impedance Analyzer has:

    Hi all

I tried to communicate Analyzer 4395A impedance with interface USB GPIB 82357 B using the command of expert keysight and Labview module tutorial. I couldn't able to find orders of SCPI (Standard for programmable Instruments orders) for 4395 A impedance Analyzer in the expert keysight command. Please help me on the subject of what are the other possibilities to acquire data from the Analyzer of impedance 4395 A using the interface USB GPIB 82357 B.? Is it possible to get LABVIEW plug & play drivers for USB-GPIB 82357 B interface? Our main goal is to control the parameters of impedance measurement and draw F vs IZI and theta vs F as well as get parameters of equivalent circuit on a PC with LABVIEW GUI.

    Can't wait to help.

    Hello!

I agree with 'heavy '. For more information on how to program a 3rd device contact the manufacturer because they have the knowledge. Unless there is already a LabVIEW driver for this device, you would have to implement that yourself and need information from the manufacturer.

Regarding your question if the GPIB-USB is unsuitable, it is quite easy to answer: If you want to communicate with a peripheral GPIB NI GPIB-USB can do this. But you would probably need a driver to use the GPIB of meaningful communication bus.

  • Small size of device driver USB-GPIB for distro?

    Hi all.

I had a search, and you can't find a similar question so I hope I'm not duplicating something...

I created a little app to control an Agilen 53132 meter using the USB-GPIB device OR that I would like people to be able to use internally in my group. Driver I use has been downloaded from http://joule.ni.com/nidu/cds/view/p/id/2315/lang/en.

I see that my app uses the following DLLs. However, I a) disseminate these and b) there must be some drivers below this level that will be required by a clean system.

    gpibconf. SLL, ni482.dll, nipal32.dll, nipalu.dll, nipalut.dll, nispylog.dll.

Only problem I have is that it is almost 0.5 GB in size. I want my application to distro with a smaller subset so that the user can install just the driver concerned & dll etc I need for using the USB-GPIB device. Does anyone know if a driver more small value distro exist please?

    Thank you very much

    James

There is no available smaller driver.

  • Can not find the tourmalines usb gpib interface (agilent io suite) max

    Hello

I try to use my USB-GPIB Interface of 63488 TAMS in LabView.

There is a manual for the use of the TAMS Interfaces in LabView. You must uninstall all Suite of IO with the exception of the CLCL-pieces. The problem is, this option is not given in the new versions of the suite that run under win7 (14.2 +). And according to driver download site, you need to install Suite 14.2 +. It is misleading. On my request for a manual for the use of a newer version of the suite I don't got no answer so far, so I'll try on own and with your help, I hope.

To do this, I have installed on my Win7 x 86 system:

    -LabView 2009

    NI-VISA 4.6

    OR-488. 2 2.73

    -Measurement & Automation Explorer 4.6.2

    -Agilent IO Suite 15.5

    -TAMS pilot 63488 v1.2

The driver of the TAMS works on my system. The Agilent connection Expert I see the interface and the device connected. And I can connect through this connection.

To use this interface in LabView, I activated the NI-VISA for Tulip passport, but I had no new device in MAX I tried to activate the Agilent GPIB cards for 488 programs in the Expert of the connection, but it was not the solution.

So I checked the DLL. The GPIB - 32.dll is replaced by Agilent, so cards Agilent must be enabled for 488 programs. But the info for the t6348832.dll says "TULIP DLL for the USB/GPIB T63488". If the 488 option can take effect, but why I have no effect on the activation of the passport for a Tulip? Any ideas?

Thank you for your help and support.

    Michael

For someone who has this particular problem:

I have found a small workaround to solve this problem. For this you need a Suite of Agilent, which will uninstall VISA without CLCL (review of Agilent IO libraries M.01.01 should be the last). With a tool like 7Zip, you can unzip the single installation file to get the installation files. Now you must enable the compatibility mode for Windows XP on the installation application before you install the libraries. After that, you can proceed as described by TAMS:

  • How to use traditional nidaq with a USB-GPIB installation

    Hello

When I tried to install the interface GPIB-USB on my computer it tells me I must uninstall nidaq traditional, but I need nidaq traditional also.

Is it possible to have both installed and functional? Is there a work around?

    Help, please... Thank you

    Darryl Huggins

Thank you for your response Dennis,

When I went back to look at the message I think he wanted me to uninstall a driver inherited NOR-488, so I advanced and uninstalled.

But he said traditional legacy of NOR-DAQ. I was unable to see my card GPIB with Max is why I wanted to install the USB-GPIB.

After installing now I am able to see the card GPIB and USB-GPIB interface. Must of had a bad driver, I suppose?

So now I will run another test to make sure that NEITHER-traditional DAQ still works also. But so far so good.

    Thanks, Darryl

  • I can't install VISA driver and driver USB GPIB on my PC with VISTA... help me...

I have LabVIEW7 and VISTA, it's ok, but I can't install the driver VISA and USB GPIB driver on my pc... it is necessary to connect my pc with instruments? Or LabVIEW7 have this files? Thank you

    Véronique.

LabVIEW 7 is not supported on Vista and the version of NI-VISA supplied with LabVIEW 7 is not supported. You can download the latest version of NI-VISA - I ALREADY GAVE the link for you.

    Yes.

Or I need to install LabVIEW8?

Only if you want to program in LabVIEW.

  • Communication problem series

    Hello

I want to order an instrument via a Labview serial port, but I am unable to communicate properly with him.  It works perfectly when I use Hyper Terminal, but as soon as I use the ' basic series write and Read.vi ", I have a timeout problem.  'Write' does not give me an error, but the "read" never works.  Unfortunately, no or the controls seem to work.  That seems to be a communication problem.

Here are the parameters of communication for this instrument:

    Baud rate: 115200

    Data bits: 8

    Stop bits: 1

    Parity: None

    Flow control: no

    Charaters termination: \r\n

By MAX, the communication port is OK and I am able to open the test Panel.  Howerver, I'm not able to access information when I ask a query, or there is no action to simple commands.

    Thanks for your help

I used the example of LV2009: Advanced Serial write and Read.vi.  Just to make sure that I don't have a mistake in coding. I just did the current value as a default value, so you can see what I actually sent to the instrument.

I guess that you do not actually send * IDN? given that it is not even a command that is supported by the instrument.

The Canadian standard requires that you cancel orders in writing with BOTH a \r and \n. Using the 'end writing with stop character?' only the \n is sent as it is what is on the stop character. It is unclear how the device responds, or not at all, if she did not see the \r and \n. So disable this option, the "string to write" play to display in '-' codes mode (right click and select in the context menu) and enter the command, followed by \r\n. otherwise, you could leave this option on, but you must make sure that you add \r to your order in the text box "string to write.

  • How old, a driver can be used with the USB-GPIB controller?

Hello, I have a litter of Nicolet who I'm trying to control using an NI USB-GPIB controller and a Nicolet provided the program. The software were made in 1995 and told me it was made to work with the NI AT-gpib cards and I would need to use a pilot more OLD, BUT I don't have access to one of these cards for a purchased a USB-GPIB, hoping that it would work. A pilot more FORMER will support the GPIB-USB?

    Sorry for you, but not

This is a really old software and works only on the driver to the gpib.

Written in LabVIEW software would go from before this date.

  • Using Agilent USB-> GPIB controller possible

    Hello

When I have an Agilent USB-> GPIB controller so normally, I have to install the Agilent IO libraries for the windows driver.

What should I do when I want to use the USB-> GPIB controller in Labview? There, I have NEITHER - MAX-> is the driver included in MAX or what I have to install both programs?

    thx for the help

No, when you use a controller of NOR, you must NEITHER-488. 2. remember, the VISA is just one api that is above the actual hardware drivers. There is a specific hardware for the controller of Agilent driver and a driver of specific material for a controller OR.

Where the driver is depends on your version of LabVIEW. On my 8.6 distribution, there is a separate DVD called NI Device Driver DVD.
