However, starting with the next version of vSPhere, the traditional vSphere client will disappear and the web client will be used.

    Thanks for help.

Update Manager is a separate facility that AFAIK.  A server with a database connection is needed to run it.

If you run the Vmware-VIMSetup-all file from a windows-based server, you will see the installer for the Manager to update as well as prerequisites for installation.

  • Using the Update Manager when he is incapable of vMotion.

Using the Update Manager when he is incapable of vMotion.

I have three Essentials licensed 5.0 hosts and vCenter operating on one of them as a virtual machine. All VM runs on the local disk. I'm tired of patching of CLI and want to use the Update Manager. I can easily do that, on the other hand, two hosts where vCenter is not running but obviously not on the host where it is running.

I have a data store that is shared in the form of a QNAP NAS, but I can't Storage vMotion because of licensing restrictions. I can't do a vMotion "shared nothing" to another host due to the same restriction. It's like a catch-22 situation.

I have the service window where I can turn off all the virtual machine

Anyone has ideas on the use of Update Manager in this configuration or do I just forget about it

Clone the vCenter even to another VM and make the vcenter temp on another host or elsewhere to deploy a new vCenter on another host and update the host from there

  • ESXi 4.0 can be upgraded to 4.1 via the Update Manager?

    Hello

ESXi 4.0 can be upgraded to 4.1 via the Update Manager, or what I have to do it manually via vihostupdate.pl? Is it also possible to upgrade via CD offline? That is, will be the Setup routine recognizes the installed version and keep the configuration?

At least the Upgrade Guide describes Update Manager as a solution to perform the upgrade - 4.1 does not appear here yet however!

/ edit: Ah, I completely forgot that I must use the base line upgrade instead of Patch baseline. I can specify the ZIP file for the upgrade!

    Thank you

right, the Update Manager-> create-> home-setting baseline to day-> file-> download the .iso image file or image .zip of ESX (i) 4.1.

  • Automatic shutdown of the virtual machines in the Update Manager

Is it possible to automatically stop the virtual machines as part of the Update Manager?  We have our virtual machines configured for auto power off/start with the host.  But when we apply a lot of patching ESX using the Update Manager, he waits for us to stop manually before putting the host in maintenance mode.

Any way to automate that? Thank you!

But when we apply a lot of patching ESX using the Update Manager, he waits for us to stop manually before putting the host in maintenance mode.

Lol WHA each fails to accomplish is ESX is an enterprise product, it must be used with vMotion.  If the Update Manager is designed to make this easy and pain free, so if you have the shared storage, your VM will migrate to another host, maintenance is done, and the virtual machine back.

ESX is essentially a hands on environment.  I know everyone can't afford a SAN, but ESX caters to these large enterprise systems that do not have SAN.

By making a patch, so we are now toward the Windows stand alone everyday server where you have done EACH server, or do it manually power off / closure of EACH virtual machine is EVEN easier to do this 1 by 1 on EACH physical host.

Consider so it cannot be the best option, it isn't that hard to select ALL VM under tension and click "shut down guest.  Besides that if you plan for a breakdown, you can stop the VM remotely (if windows) by using a shutdown script.

There are a lot of options to do this, but there is no stopping the VM before update, you must do it manually.

  • using the Update Manager

    Hello

I installed a plug-in for the Update Manager. I have well configured my proxy (test).

I started "Edit update download Assistant". I see that it started to download something... now this info is off 'to-do bar' and I don't know if it is finished or not.

How can I see if she ended up downloading all the updates for my ESX nodes? Where are stored these updates?

    Thx for your help

You must at least 3.0.3 for AUVS to work.  However, from 3.0.x I highly recommend a reconstruction.

  • Is there an alternative to the Update Manager - download the latest VMWare Tools for Windows Server 2003

    Hello

I am really struggling to find an alternative to the Update Manager to download the latest VMWare Tools for Windows (Server 2003)

There must be a link of just download somewhere? I scoured VMWare.com nothing helps...

I can find of the OSP for other platforms (SUSE, Ubuntu etc), but nothing for Windows! Why?

    Any help really appreciated!

    Kind regards

    Tony.

So you are saying I need to download the latest version of ESX/vSphere and then extract the VM Tools of which rpm?

It might be a way to get them, if you are unable to install the product.

The version will say vSphere 4.0 be OK for ESXi 3.5 VMs?

    Yes

  • remove the update manager updates

I use the Update Manager.  I downloaded a large number of updates that are no longer applicable in my environment and I would like to remove them from the repository so that they are not occupy disk space.  For example, I have more esx 3.0.3 in my environment and I would only the updates that I had downloaded previously removed from the repository.  Anyway is to do.  I see where they are stored on the VirtualCenter server, but I'm reluctant just go and delete the folder containing the esx updates - 3.0.3.

    Thanks for the help.

This has been an of my by peeves on VUM since its inception. You can not manage the files it downloads. Once downloaded, it is in the database. If the files get damaged, the only way to refresh the files is a re - install Crossover with a database reset. It is the same on the files that you no longer need. No way to get rid of them in the MUV.

You can use Windows Explorer to delete files, but VUM will always think they are here.

  • My Asus Vivo tab completed the update of the firmware, it now crashes as soon as I log in

I completed a number of software updates, including an update yesterday.

Now, when I boot the Vivo tab RT (RT 8 Windows) I can enter my password, the tiles load and it immediately locks upward.
The display shows the white circles that appear under your fingers when I touch the screen, but otherwise, are not admissible.
With the keyboard connected, if I type Ctrl + Alt + Delete it shows the screen to open the Task Manager (and other options) but even once, they react to the touch or click with the arrow of track pad.
    Any suggestions?

I am happy that you get responses from ASUS.  They cheated me out of my keyboard dock, which was supposed to be free. I signed up online and it wont let me get the dock for free (it was December).  They weasled out of it so I had to buy the dock.

Then, I ordered a replacement USB cable and they sent me a VGA header instead for a desktop machine.  I have file a complaint and get an RMA number.  Well, two weeks later and no cable (plus $20 No.).

Now, they pierce this December and did not offer a fix.  I'm not holding my breath hoping if I send it to them for repair they'll actually give me my rear shelf.  I rather just cut my losses because the BONE broke piece by piece since December.  The OS is only 3 months old!

  • Why is it not my icc profile in the 'other' tab in the color management tab in the print module?

I installed a new icc profile (as I did in the past). It appears in the folder c:/windows/system32/spool/drivers/color as well as everything else. I have the latest update for Lightroom installed. I closed Lightroom, restarted the computer and restarted Lightroom. My other profiles are listed, but this one isn't there. I know it must be added in the menu 'Other' down in the profile section of the tab in the print module color management--but it is just not there. Any advice would be appreciated.

I just figured it out, and I'll put the answer here in case others run into the same issue.

I closed the print module and went in the develop module. I went soft proofing (shortcut "S") mode and looked on this list of management-profile-other colors, and it was there. I then closed out proofing and returned to the print module. Now the icc profile was listed. Strange behavior, but there you go.
