Welcome screen - fast user switching disabled

My computer says a recently installed program has disabled the Welcome screen
and to restore these features, I have to uninstall the program. The
next file would help me to identify the program that made the change:
vrlogon.dll didn't install any programs. This is a new computer, just
from. Help How do I find and undo vrlogon.dll?

Thank u

I am sure that the fingerprint scanner software caused this to your laptop.

Start the software of fingerprint on your laptop and uncheck an option that says something like this:
"Replace Windows logon with the connection protected from fingerprints.

I don't own a laptop with fingerprint software, so I'm not sure of the name of this security tool. It could be something like "Protector Suite QL' which will also show up as an icon in the systray. 'Start Control Center', 'Settings', 'System Settings', 'Enable Fast Switching Support user' must be the correct procedure to go.

Once you have done this, your laptop should boot normally

Kind regards

If it cannot be directly turned off please let me know how I can disable the change user displayed in the login screen the menu stop.

    Thank you.

    Hi jv59,

Welcome to the Microsoft Answers site.

As the Group Policy Editor is not available in the Home Premium from Windows 7 version, the other way of disabling it is through the registry editor.

Important: this article contains information about how to edit the registry. Make sure that you back up the registry before you edit it. Make sure you know how to restore the registry if a problem occurs. For more information about how to back up, restore, and modify the registry, click on the number below to view the article in the Microsoft Knowledge Base:

    Back up the registry

    http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows7/back-up-the-registry

    1) click Start, type regedit.exe in the find dialog box or run and press enter.

    (2) go to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE-SOFTWARE-Microsoft-Windows-CurrentVersion------policies------system

    (3) create a DWORD (32-bit) value named HideFastUserSwitching with a right click on the right side of the editor and choice New > DWORD(32bit) value.

    (4) set data HideFastUserSwitching to 0 to disable the fast user switching.

    (5) in the future if you want to enable the fast user switching, set data HideFastUserSwitchingto 1.

After, log to see the changes. Fast user switching must be disabled after completing the steps above.

    Kind regards

  • Why the fast user switching and the new Windows Search use the Terminal Services?

Recently, I was struck by a piece of really bad, malicious malware that totally trashed my operating system.  Therefore, as I rebuild my system, I am applying the appropriate safety precautions.  Among the recommendations of Microsoft is to reduce your footprint of security by disabling unnecessary services.  One of these services that I thought I didn't need was Terminal Server services, since it is a way for a person to get to my machine remotely.

It turns out that, however, other services that I want to use, such as Fast user Switching and window new search utility, depend on the Terminal Server Services.  It makes no sense to me from a safety point of view.  This seems to be a bad design decision, because security trumps utility.

If Microsoft is listening, I would like to know why you made this decision and you have changed in Windows 7?

Second, is there a way to always have the Terminal services Server running and at the same time cut access remotely through this service?

I don't know about the 'new' Windows Search, but what about the fast user switching you ask to run several sessions of Windows when you switch between users (a session for each user connected) and the only way that Windows can do is to act as a quasi Terminal Server, it needs Terminal Server services to run multiple sessions.
