wget timesout when you create a virtual machine

Hello

I'm building a Virtual Appliance using Vmware Studio. It's basically a device of Tomcat, so I provide a JDK and Tomcat package in the Build Studio process.

When the Studio generates the VM, it tries to download the JDK and Tomcat and install both on the virtual machine. The download and install tomcat works very well, but JDK package timeout on the wget due to the size of the package. The error I get in the errorlog file-

Connection to [address] | : [Port]... connected.
Application of proxy sent, awaiting response... Error (Connection timed) out of reading in the headers.
Abandon.

How can I configure studio to allow of largest wget wait times during the construction of the machine Virtuelle/Virtual Appliance.

Thank you.

Most of the calls in perl code Studio wget use a 'constant' in /opt/vmware/lib/build/VADK/Constants.pm called WGET_TIMEOUT:

void WGET_TIMEOUT {return ' - timeout 60 - tent = 1' ;}}

You can change the timeout value in this function.

  • 'No operating system found' when you create the new machine virtual de DVD

Hi, I had problems with the creation of a new machine virtual (Server 2008 R2).  After the initial creation, I turn on - then starts immediately to the network.  I tried to change the boot order in the BIOS and even removed the NIC via Virtual Machine properties.  I built VMs repeatedly using this method.  I use an ISO DVD that I know, I created works.  I select "connect to E:\. "that is my DVD drive on my laptop and have restarted (loses connection every time the DVD player).  I even changed the type of E1000 VMXNET3 network adapter - makes no difference.

I feel good and truiy perplexed!

    Any ideas?

You can connect the ISO remote only when the virtual machine is running.

I suggest you set a delay (or get into the BIOS), in the property of the VM, press ESC during POST to enter the Boot Menu, select CD but wait to confirm.

Connect the ISO and now start to begin.

That's kinda our old friend is back.

    Two checklists

    1. check the version of the VM VGA driver, if that's the case, you must update the WDDM driver display driver.

    2. make sure that you use HW 7 and more.

  • Unable to choose the host when you deploy a virtual machine template

    Good Morning-

I feel that the answer to this is with myself; However, I would ask - I try to deploy a virtual machine model for test purposes and I want the virtual machine must be created on a specific host.  When I start the Wizard "deploy the virtual machine of model", I am only able to select the cluster and not a specific host.   Is it possible for me to be able to select the host to which the virtual machine will be deployed without disabling DRS?

Thank you very much in advance for the help.

    Steve

What happens if you right click on the host that you want to deploy on the virtual machine to and select deploy from model - but don't forget if you have a DRS activated with anything other that Manuel DRS will select the host on which the virtual machine starts on and it would not be that you deply to--

    Hi danandham,

Welcome in the vmware community. Iyou s really a problem, we try to fix it.

After a command, you can use as a workaround:

    vmrun t fusion getGuestIPAddress "path/to/MyVMs.vmx" - wait

If I go to vCenter, the CD is pointing to the ISO file, but the 'Connected' to change settings option is not checked;  I can restart the VM of vCenter and then the VM restarts the ISO, but not in the script.

I even put code to add a lead time of 5 to 10 seconds; I restart the virtual machine twice in the script and I can't CD to connect to start the virtual computer.

Could someone give me some suggestions? I do not know how to solve this problem.

    Thank you!

    > Policy requires 2 replicas with discs 1 each with 0 bytes free each. Only found 0 these records

This means that all three nodes in the cluster is not participating in the storage. Check if all 3 nodes have at least 1 diskgroup and contributing to the storage

default vsan strategy is 1 failure to tolerate what creates two replicas. so that you can either ensure that all 3 nodes have at least 1 diskgroup or create a vm storage policy replacing the default values

    Thank you

    Greetings, steddyeddie-

You should be able to use Set - hard drive and SCSI controller Set cmdlets to set the storage format of your hard drive and the SCSI controller type, respectively.  You were close to on the part of game - hard drive .  Try something like:

    ## get the VM object $vmVMSTORE23 = Get-VM VMSTORE23 ## set the harddisk storageformat to thin$vmVMSTORE23 | Get-HardDisk | Set-HardDisk -StorageFormat Thin ## set the SCSI controller type$vmVMSTORE23 | Get-ScsiController | Set-ScsiController -Type VirtualLsiLogicSAS

It could pack in to your existing order to keep it as a good word, but for readability.

  • Once you have a virtual machine running my application, what can I do with it?

I continue to imagine that I can develop my apps inside a virtual machine - and I

that does very well - and then * download the whole virtual machine to sort

of the hosting service, who run it for TI

The problem is that I can't understand a combination of the words

'VMware', 'VM', 'accommodation', 'server' or something else that will bring me

a nearby answer anywhere! ???  So I ask here.

I would like to be able to download the entire VM, with all their libraries, etc.,.

for a service that would allow me to run them.  I would also like to be able to

to turn them off, in which case a new version presents problems, and for

for example.  Oh, and did I mention that if such a service exists, I would like to

    be affordable?

One last thing: what search terms should I use to look for such a

    answer to?

    Thank you very much!!

You want "cloud." If you have heard of the interest of the industry in the "cloud computing", it's an aspect of it. You create a virtual machine and hand it turns off your COMPUTER service (for a private cloud) or a hosting company (for a public cloud) and don't have to worry about the maintenance of the equipment. See also http://www.vmware.com/solutions/cloud-computing/

Cloud computing market is still fairly new, and there is no I'm aware of many suppliers. I also expect them to focus on business first rather than individuals, as businesses will be probably easier to bear (homogeneity) and are willing to pay more.

As others have said, the current accommodation market (which IMO offers only a fraction of the capabilities of a cloud) is mostly about getting a generic instance and tweak to your liking. I guess the underlying architecture of most of the places is a strategy of container - like - this can reach higher densities (because resources from reviews are shared) at the expense of the flexibility (because resources from reviews are shared), but maybe not what you want.

The only currently existing service on a large scale that allows the download I can think of off the top of my head is Amazon EC2 (which is a strategy of container and not based on VMware products). You are limited to a certain list of grain and the capabilities of the resources and of course must be in their specific file format.

If you're ready to be your own host, or can find a small hosting provider, Fusion VMS should be able to run on vSphere with minimal changes (vSphere companies target, so it is much more interested in the most characteristic stability.) Some features that work in Fusion do not work on vSphere).

  • Blue screen when you create a new virtual machine from an acronis image.  ESXi 5.0

I'm trying to create a virtual machine in my ESXi 5.0, from acronis backup.  The backup is W2003.

The virtual machine is created, but when it tries to start on W2003, he quickly shows a blue screen for a second or two, then try to restart.

I suspect that it is a hard disk driver, but I don't know how to correct it.    I couldn't see anything in the Bios of the virtual machine to select type of HD.

    This fixed my issue.

Glad to hear that it works now. Even if VMware Converter 4.3 works, I would say that you are using the latest version of Converter for future conversions.

  • How to specify the file of virtual hard disk when you create a new virtual machine using virtual hard disk on the data store?

I'm new to PowerCLI and find quite simple, but in the documentation I read, I don't see how to use a virtual hard drive, existing on a data store when you create a new virtual machine.

Is this simple registration on the virtual hard disk, or did I miss something?

My current create VM is the following statement:

    New-VM

    -Name $TargetHostName -host $TargetVMCenterHost -data store $TargetVMCenterDatastore DiskMB - 20000 -MemoryMB $TargetHostMemoryMB -NumCPU $TargetHostCPUs -ID $TargetHostOS -CD -Description $TargetHostName

Didn't notice this before, but I think that vSphere will use a backslash instead of a slash in the paths.

  • Virtual PC - create new virtual machine snap into button appears not

I installed virtual PC and having the image in XP mode works on Win 7 64 bit on a Dell Optiplex 990 i5 processor.  However when I choose the Manager of Windows Virtual PC and the Windows Explorer window opens, I see not the option create a virtual machine, just 'burn' where it should be.

I tried to activate windows 7 aero UI think the classic look of windows blocked somehow but that has no effect.

I tried to reinstall the configuration of virtual machine directly on the site but it gives me the message that there is not suitable for use.  I tried uninstalled and re - install, but get the same when the Explorer window is missing the snap.

How can I get the snap in option seem to create a virtual drive?  The window appears with the title of Virtual Machines.

Once again, the image in XP mode work properly and starts and stops without any problem.

  • Licenses to create a virtual machine is second with more than 8 cores?

So, we have a machine with 4 physical Sockets with 16 cores on each. We bought 4 licenses of vmware's standard. Now, we saw early on that the number max of hearts that we assign to a virtual machine was 32, which isn't really a big problem, 32 is a lot for our needs. So we have a 32 core virtual machine running and some other smaller, but now when I try to create another virtual machine with more than 8 cores it tells me that I have insufficient licenses.

Can anyone provide more information on that? If I can create a virtual machine with more than 8 cores, why I can't create a new one?

He said authorized to 4 physical processors, so it's ok, it's using your Standard licenses.

During the 60-day trial, you could create more large virtual machines, because the 60 days run with Enterprise Plus features. Now that you are using the standard license, you can create only 8 vCPU VMs.

    Solution:

You should spend 5.5 ESXi. Your license will also work for 5.5 and you'll be able to create virtual machines with up to 64 vCPUs.
