What could have happened to my LR catalog?

Because Dropbox recently announced an update on a cloud of 1 TB drive, I thought to pass my images (OSX) file to my Dropbox folder. Because you can't really move it in the Finder, I tried the following solution of Terminal:

sudo rm - rf ~/Pictures & & ln -s "/Users/ [username] / Dropbox/images" ~/Pictures

(source: https://thomashunter.name/blog/move-special-os-x-user-folders-to-external-drive/)

After it I open Lightroom and he immediately asked the last used catalog. Chose Lightroom Catalog.lrcat 5 but then it showed a library that was certainly missing some files. Do not know why.

Because I don't like my lost settings I made sort of a roll back via a solution mentioned on https://thomashunter.name/blog/move-special-os-x-user-folders-to-external-drive/ (below):

sudo MV "/Users/ [username] / Dropbox/images" ~/Pictures

After that, I open Lightroom and again once he asked for my catalog with the same result as mentioned above.

So now, I lost all my files in my library. I'm a bit lost in this. And then you are my hope to solve this . So who can help out me?

Thanks in advance!

I guess you need to find the most recent backup of your catalog and use it.
