  • CPU upgrade (HP Compaq dc5750)

    System: HP Compaq dc5750

    BIOS: version 786E3 2.22

Hi, I recently bought a CPU AMD Athlon X 2 5000 + for my system. The current one is AMD Athlon X 2 4400 + Not much of an upgrade, I know. But I'm going to build another system so I though I would just have both, use a faster on my primary system.

I checked in the user manual, the processor is indeed compatible with this mobo.

So when I have the 5000 + installed it don't post, no beep and I get no signal on the screen. I went from the old processor in and everything works fine. So my question is, I have to update my bios (v2.22), the cpu is bad or is it something else?

Let me know if you need additional information from me. Thanks, have a good evening.

Certainly the update of the BIOS.

Your version is 2.22 BIOS current BIOS is 2.36 Rev. Version 2.29. 7 sep 2007 added support for other processors.

  • Upgrade CPU Compaq 6715 b

    As stated above,

Can I upgrade my CPU or is it is soldered on the motherboard? If can upgrade, can I know what are the elements that are compatible with this old laptop?

    Thank you.

    My laptop stats:

    Compaq 6715 b

Windows Vista SP 1 (cannot install SP2 if I reformat the laptop all that I have no intention of)

Processor: AMD Turion (TM) 64 X 2 Mobile Technology TL-60 2.00 GHz (now you can see why I want to upgrade my CPU)

    System type: 32-bit operating system

    Hello:

My recommendation is to get a used but works on a place like eBay.  That's where I get my leave.

You cannot install any other processor other than those listed in the service manual.

  • Compaq CPU Upgrade SR5045AN

    Hi all

I am trying to upgrade the Compaq SR5045AN a single core to a Dual core CPU according to upgrade on the site Web of HP/Compaq:

    http://support.HP.com/us-en/document/c00881610

The computer is running and I was prompted to enter the correct Date and time in the BIOS, but when I exit the BIOS and try to run Windows (Vista), Windows attempts to load with the 'trick' that runs through the screen, but just, it stays there and doesn't go to the Welcome screen.

My question is do I have I have made changes in the motherboard as riders etc. ?

    Thank you.

    Thanks Dunidar,

I solved the problem as follows.

I inserted a DVD of Windows 7 and start the DVD player.

Then I installed Windows 7 and everything smoothly, updated with the pack Service 1 etc.

Everything works fine now, and the computer is running a lot faster.

    Thanks for your help.

  • Compaq 6715 b - upgrade to 802.11a/b/g/n or/AC

I understand that I must pay attention to what network adapter I chose for this laptop (Compaq 6715 b, Win7) olde, but I have a nice 802.11ac new router and I would get this box using the pref/AC or less 802.11n.

    The current adapter is reported as PCI\VEN_14E4 & DEV_4312 & SUBSYS_1371103C & REV_02 (Broadcom Wireless 54bg,

    Broadcom wireless 1490 (dell))

Which, if any, the adapter may seek this gearbox?

    Thanks in advance

    Hello:

Here is the link to the service manual for your laptop.

    http://h20628.www2.HP.com/km-ext/kmcsdirect/emr_na-c02834030-1.PDF

The only available for your model Wireless N card is the Broadcom adapter of abgn with the reference number used in the country where you live - 441530-001 or 002-441530.  (Chapter 3, p. 29-30).

You can install a wireless card for your model (not the 6710 (b) and it must have the part number HP on it or it won't work.

My recommendation is to do a search by the part number HP on eBay and get an opportunity but tested and functional.

  • Questions about upgrading a Compaq Presario CQ5205Y desktop computer system

    Good evening

I'm about to embark on my first serious upgrade of my computer, and I thought it would be a good idea to arrive before I get too far down the rabbit hole (and knocked out my Internet access).  What motivates the need to upgrade, it's that the system tends to lag when I programs using a lot of memory running and I think I can give him a decent boost on reasonably low budget.

I have a desktop PC Compaq Presario CQ5205Y Win7-64 bit without modification until running.  I'm lookin to upgrade the CPU and the RAM of the machine.  For ease of reference, here is the page describing the system:

    http://h20000.www2.HP.com/bizsupport/TechSupport/document.jsp?objectID=c01859812&lang=en&cc=us&Conte...

For the CPU, I found a good price on an AMD Phenom X 4 9750 2.4 GHz Quad-Core CPU (HD9750WCJ4BGH).  What I read, it meets the necessary criteria (socket AM2 + 95W, etc.).  I still need to determine if it needs a fan or non - language marketing indicates that it is not), but assuming that it works, here are my questions for this update:

1 should I update the BIOS on the card, or change one of its parameters to recognize the new chip?

    2. with regard to the installation, I think that it's pretty simple - unlock/remove the Semprom LE-1300 that is there now, carefully align the new processor Phenom X 4 (Golden to golden triangle triangle) and tighten in place. Then, if necessary, install the fan/radiator.  Is this correct, or am I missing something important and potentially catastrophic?

For the RAM, I have not bought, but I think I need barrettes 2x2gb DDR2 memory unbuffered, non - ECC memory.  I'm showing my ignorance here, but I imagine that rain is better in this case and is much better than the PC2-5300 memory PC2-6400.  If Yes, then maybe something like (or more affordable if I can find it):

    http://www.TigerDirect.com/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=6252562&CSID=_61

Once again, a couple of very similar questions:

    1. do I need to change BIOS settings after I installed memory or if the automatic detection system?

    2. I swapped memory on other computers before so I guess that this motherboard is always the same - unclip/dethrone the existing memory, slide into the new and snap it in place.  Does this sound right?

In my view, which covers everything I know, but if anyone has any other advice or warning indication, they would certainly be appreciated.

Thanks in advance for help a beginner brave new waters.

    Processor:

    (1) no updated BIOS available for this model

    (2) more or less correct... you will need a HSF (heatsink & fan) for the new processor and a thermal paste. After the installation of the CPU, you apply the thermal is dedicated to the then install the HSF. The stock will be Sempron HSF to adapt and work but can not dissipate the extra heat

    (3) it is one of these models that will accept AM3 Athlon II and Phenom II CPU (see CPU upgrade in specs), but if it is supported depends on the revision of the motherboard and the BIOS version. Your choice of Phenom 9750 is a sure way to go

    Memory:

    (1) once again, no BIOS update available for this model

    (2) sounds right

    (3) you can look at Newegg.com best prices

    Please send Bravo

  • Toshiba Satellite Pro S500 i5 or i7 i3 CPU upgrade

Hi everyone, I'm having 7 Toshiba Satellite Pro S500 Notebooks here and want to update these shit Core i3 330M and 350M, 370 M and 380M CPU for Core i5 or Core i7 CPU. I'm not quite sure what CPU Socket, I have to buy and which generations of CPUS are supported by the S500. I processors up to 380 M Corei3 assembled in these things now and think its a HM55 Express chipset inside which must allow to i5 and i7 processors. I already had problems in upgrading toshiba tecra A9 modells and after upgrading CPU they were running very well and the FAN was blowing ultra noisy at speed of 100% all the time without ever turning off again even if the laptop could be frozen at 0 ° C and it has never been warm. Level 3rd Toshiba support then told me that he would need a firmware update they do provide customers and was told to send books to repair @ € 50 each, just to update this microcode. So I would ask if anyone has a list of processors supported for the S500 modells?
Numbers of exact model I have:
    Satellite Pro S500-106 (PSSE0E-19M06SLD)
    Satellite Pro S500-147 (PSSE0E-0HH06SLD)
    Satellite Pro S500-132 (PSSE0E-09G05ELD)

Hope someone can help, I don't want to end up buying an i7 or i5 cpu, spending 50 dollars, investing 4 hours work and end up with a laptop unusable, I immediately dismantle again just for the work that I had invested... Forward your answers J

Best thing to do is to choose a CPU provided with one of the other S500 PSSE0E patterns. This way you can be sure the BIOS supports.
Some portable computers require a cooling system calibration after that another CPU is installed. An ASP can do the calibration.

  • Equium L20-264 - CPU upgrade

    Hello world

I have Toshiba Equium L20-264 and I want to move into gear
    Can someone help me please?

I had already upgraded to 2 GB of Ram, but my CPU is still 1.4 GHz.

Please guide me what to do and if it supports several Ghz processor, which will be the best place to buy.

    Thank you.

I assume that you have not read all the posts here in the forum about upgrading the CPU s for laptop?
    Did you?

    Some facts first:
Update CPU is very delicate and depends on the chipset and BIOS support.
In case one of the parties (chipset or bios) would not support new CPU, the will to power laptop on.

Second: the laptop seems to be equipped with an Intel Celeron - M CPU, and I suppose the other Intel Celeron-M CPU be compatible:
    Intel Celeron M 370 (1.5 Ghz)
    Intel Celeron M 380 (1.6 Ghz)

Everything supports the FSB 400 Mhz

But guess what? Even if you add the new processor at 1.6 Ghz, the performance gain will be not noticeable. So in my eyes, CPU upgrade for this old book is useless. It won't add any performance benefits.

  • Satellite Pro L630 - 14L - CPU upgrade possible?

Is it possible to upgrade processor in this model: L630 14 L? If yes what processors are supported?
Another question - my hdmi port stopped working - is the possible replacement?

    Hello

With regard to the question on the CPU upgrade:
This question was asked several times here in the forum. I recommend you read the other discussions on upgrading the CPU.

Usually, the case is simple: the manufacturers of portable don t support this upgrade for clean products. The CPU is delicate because the new processor must be based on two essential elements: chipset and BIOS.

The laptop supports the Mobile Intel HM55 Express Chipset.
So, you know, what would the CPU supported by the chipset.
But like I said above: the BIOS support is also important and finally everything depends on the BIOS whether your new processor works or not.

  • Portege M200 - what CPU should I use?

    Hello
    I purchased a M200 with a processor of Pentium M 1, 5 GHz.

Now, I want to put the fastest CPU in it. Which is the fastest CPU you can put in? What is the M745 Pentium, Pentium M745a or Pentium M750?
Sorry for my Wnglish, I came from Latvia.

Generally the CPU upgrade is not supported, and using a little bit faster your laptop CPU certainly not run faster than before.
If you need more performance upgrade RAM to the maximum level and optimize the operating system preinstalled.

  • Qosmio G40 - 10Z - possible CPU upgrade?

What processor can I put my Qosmio G40 - 10Z? I couldn't find a list and the motherboard is a "motherboard Toshiba" without a template or similar.
I would like to change to a better processor, a quadcore would be well, is - it possible?

My Windows 7 tells me to change the battery, but the battery is ok. Google says its due to Windows and could be solved by the BIOS updated. I have the newest
Official home page. There is no latest BIOS available?

    Thank you

    Robert

    Hello

I doubt that the CPU upgrade would be possible. You should read this article:
    http://APS2.toshiba-tro.de/KB0/TSB9401AX0001R01.htm

This error message is it exactly that you get Windows 7? Normally you get only a low battery notification, you need to Exchange or connect the power supply.

  • Satellite Pro L450D - 12 X - CPU upgrade

    Hello

I have a Toshiba Satellite Pro L450D - 12 X and I was wondering which processors 'Dual Core' support this laptop for a CPU upgrade?

Have a read of other peoples threads, it is possible for the laptop to have an upgrade, but I'm not sure of what those who actually support. The most common dual core would be the dual core 'Stalk' However, there are many processors that go under the name "stalk".

I was also wondering if all Toshiba L450Ds have the same motherboard etc... because they contain the same case and (mostly) graphics card

    Thank you very much

I assume that you have already read this Toshiba doesn't support CPU upgrade and a public document on processors compatible doesn t exist.
You can just hope that someone has an identical identical machine with the hardware platform and can offer some info on these updates.

For best performance, you can start with the RAM upgrade. Have you upgraded RAM to max level?

  • Satego X 200-21 L - CPU-Upgrade

    Hello

I ve recently bought a Satego X 200-21 L with a T7500. I´ll want to upgrade the processor to a X 7800. Does anyone know if its possible?

    Hello

Why you want to be updated?
This is a new laptop and the warranty is valid if you will analyze this laptop (you know how to do this?), you will lose the warranty!
You want to lose the warranty?

Secondly I don't know if the laptop won't work stable after upgrading CPU Mr. why? For different reasons. The stronger CPU produces more heat, and this would increase the internal temperature.
In addition, fan table that is stored in the BIOS will not correspond with the new processor and cooling modules not to run and cool the CPU correctly!

Last but not least, you will notice no no spectacular performance gain. In my view there s really no need to change the CPU because of all the above mentioned risk.

But if you want to know what CPU could be compatible, then check the properties of the chipset and check on the Intel page which processors could be compatible.

    Greetings

  • Satellite C850-1 kN and CPU Upgrade

I recently got my hands on one of these laptops. It has a Pentium 960 b for the moment, but I searched for Intel i3 - 3110M or Intel i3 processor - 3130M CPU on eBay to replace the slower Pentium.

Both are IvyBridge, identical to the original and both have a TDP of 35W, which means that they should not belt any more heat it does (or at least no more than the fan can handle, because the fans are usually designed to be mass produced and used in many different laptops (, but the same form factor)

Someone had a bit of luck the upgrade of their CPU in Toshiba laptops? I guess I'm of the same generation of processor Intel should mean support BIOS already integrated into the planks of the BIOS...

I can tell you that a lot of people have been able to upgrade the processor in their notebooks of Toshiba but fact is simple as this upgrade isn't officially supported by laptop manufacturers and can be done at your own risk.
Generally the CPU upgrade depends on chipset and BIOS support.

The laptop supports the Mobile HM70 Express Chipset Intel - compatible and supported processors are Intel ARK page in compatible products section:
    http://Ark.Intel.com/products/67419/Intel-BD82HM70-PCH

To be honest I don't think that all compatible CPUS are but it s a good start point.

However, the BIOS must support also the new processor and maybe it's the thorny question since no one knows what are the processors supported by the BIOS because this information isn't out of nowhere.
