    Hello

I want to save the virtual machines on a host ESX autonomous. and all of these virtual machines is the local data store.  What is the best way to save these virtual machines in this situation?

And probably we don't provision VTL on the local data center, so it is possible to use VCB to backup? And VCB is a good choice compared to the traditional method that installs the backup client in each virtual machine?   Because I think that in this situation with the data store local, it cannot not reduced the load on ESX hosts and network overhead can be avoided.

    > 1. VCB usable remote tape library? I mean it's not local library and uses the tape library to another network data center.

VCB is completely unrelated to the tape library, it is a framework, not a backup solution. If your standard backup software can work with the remote tape library you can try it to ungrateful with VCB.

NBD works on network and the backup traffic goes through the service console connection. Hot add uses special machine for assistance to connect vmdk to and uses of e/s disk stack instead of e/s network.

  • What is the best way to transfer a hard drive of a computer with a motherboard dead to a new system?

    Moving an Installation of Vista

    Hi guys (and girls).

I'm looking for the best way to transfer my computer drive "workaholic" into another machine... it's a Vista Home Premium x 86 OEM installation, but the motherboard has serious problems, so I'll pulling the reader (and its programs of many irreplaceable and owners) and transfer it into another machine. Yes, I know what are the rules regarding OEM licenses and I don't mean to skirt the rules, as I have a full VHPx86 commercial license collecting dust on the shelf that I was going to use, while I was looking for advice on the transfer:

Should I go through the process of installation/installation (and following key change) on the original machine and transfer, then the drive in the new machine?

Or can I move the disk to the new machine as that is, struggle with the driver updates and enter the new key when I reactivate the license?

    Thanks for any advice,

    JAM

I suggest to install the copy retail hard disk once it's in the new computer.  It is more complicated than simply changing the product key.  You can probably use an upgrade of the repair on-site and avoid having to reinstall your programs and data.  However, you should make a backup of the image first, just in case something goes wrong.  The other option is a clean installation of the new OS and Windows Easy Transfer to move your files and settings.  It would need to reinstall your programs.  Personally, I recommend the latter.  If you go this route there are external to the file migwiz drive since you will be formatting the drive.

  • What is the best way to upgrade my boot drive?

My OS is El Capitan 10.11.1 - I use a mid-2010, build 5.1 MacPro and internal drive is the original. Rather than wait for my boot drive failure I thought go ahead and update. I bought a 4TB sister SIN to use as the new boot disk (OWC told me this NAS drive will work fine for a boot disk). I found the instructions - below seems simple enough. Is there a better way to go about this?

    > Save

install the new drive in the #2 slot, 3 or 4

    Format as journaled extended.

Stop completely, remove the new drive.

Remove Drive 1 and place it in a different location as #2

Put the new drive in the #1 Groove

Start holding down the Option key

    Select Recovery

Select the drive in the Groove #2 as a source

Select the drive in the #1 as the destination location

    Let it run.

    Thank you!

The latest trend (for example at the end of 2013 Mac Pro) is to use a minimum size but extremely quick boot disk, and then move your user files to other drives (such as a TB sister SIN 4 player). It was a good idea to time before Mac was released and inspired this article and its related articles:

Tip: Create a lean, fast boot disk

    --------

The second question has to do with the internal drives more than 2.2 to. If you use the CLEAR utility drive on this drive as an internal drive after 10.8.3 in any Mac OS X, it will set up a utility disk and logical volume group cannot erase or partition further. If you can only PARTITION, you will be fine.

Post back if you get stuck, as there are (somewhat complicated) ways around this issue.

  • Any transfer on a drive hard new - what is the best way?

Here's a question simple and straightforward, I hope. I currently have two internal hard drives:

    • C (IDE): OS (Win7), programs
    • F (about three times larger than C, faster, SATA): for most of the multimedia stuff

(And some external and a dvd burner, which should not be relevant to this question.)

I ordered a new hard drive, which will take over old job of the F drive. Once I have install and F empty on it, I want to move everything that is currently on C for which is now F and the new C drive I start and run Windows from. (C would also get a new drive letter and would only be used for backup purposes).

I much prefer this without having to reinstall Windows and all my other programs, and without investing in expensive software of type Ghost I would probably use only once every two years or more. I also prefer not to have to partition F, although I'll do it if necessary.

What is the best way to do it?

Windows 7 image and move it to the new hard drive

The only way to avoid reinstalling programs is in the image of the player. Connect the new drive as a slave (if IDE), then partition the new drive, so it has two partitions (or more if you want) - the last partition being slightly larger, then the amount of data on your current hard drive. Also, make sure that the partition you are moving that Windows 7 is greater, then the current partition is.

Make now a picture of your current hard drive with either programs below and save it to the last partition on your new drive. If you have the recovery of 100MB partition do not forget to include that. Then restore the image of the partition that you want Windows 7 installed-you put in place the same as long as your current drive, and you may need to remove/change the partitions that you have done.

Both programs are offered free of charge:

    Reflect disk imaging:

Paragon Backup & Recovery Free Edition:

Remove the old hard drive and see if a new start, if it is not:

Try to repair the Installation of Windows 7

    1. Insert the DVD of Windows 7 and restart your computer
    2 boot from the DVD.
    3. choose your language and click Next.
    4. click on repair your computer, select the operating system you want to repair.
    5. click on the link to repair list system in the System Recovery Options recovery tools.

More information and a how to guide:
    http://pcsupport.about.com/od/toolsofthetrade/SS/Windows-7-startup-repair.htm

If this does not solve it:

    1. Insert the DVD of Windows 7 and restart your computer
2 boot from the DVD. If you are prompted, press any key to start Windows from the installation disc.
    3. choose your language and click Next.
    4. click on repair your computer, select the operating system you want to repair.
    5. Select command prompt and try the following commands (one command might work, or you may need to use several commands according to the exact problem):

    Bootrec /fixMBR
    Bootrec /fixBoot
    Bootrec /rebuildBCD

Note: there is a space before the /.

Space - increase free hard drive space

Before taking the free picture of space hard drive if you want.
The following procedure cleans the files associated with your user account. You can also use Disk Cleanup to clean all the files on your computer.

    1. click the button start, in the search box, type disk cleanup, then click Disk Cleanup.
    2. in the drives list, click the drive you want to clean, and then click OK.
    3. on the Disk Cleanup tab, select the types of files to delete.
Note: To delete all Points except the most recent system restore - click on "Clean up System Files" and you will get another tab called more than Options. Now click More Options, and then click 'Clean up' under ' System Restore and shadow copies "and then confirm the deletion.
    4. click OK at the bottom of the window cleaning disc and in the message that appears, click on delete files.

Reduce the amount of space allocated to system restore.

    1. start--> panel--> system and safety--> system
    2. then click on the "System Protection" link located at the top left.
    3. in "system properties? window, click the tab "System Protection".
4 locate the 'Settings of Protection' box and select / click on the drive letter (usually c :))
    5. now, click the "Configure" button to change the settings to restore "disk space".
    6. move the slider to the left to reduce the amount of disk space, that System Protection can use.
    7. click "Apply" and then the "OK" button after setting the disk space.

  • I'll do a clean install on a blank hard drive upgrade but want to keep my Firefox settings - what is the best way to do this?

I'll do an upgrade from Windows XP to Windows 7. I will be installing Windows 7 on a new empty hard drive. I want to keep my bookmarks Firefox and Ad Ons. What is the best way to do it. Thank you for your help.

    Hello

The best thing for you to do is to make a backup of your Firefox profile. It is a folder that stores bookmarks and Add-ons that you can then add to the reinstalled Firefox on your new operating system.

Learn you more about the Firefox profile folder, how to backup and restore, here.

I hope this helps, but if not, please come back here and we can look at in another option for you.

  • What is the best way to retrieve deleted mp3 files? I am running OSX Leopard 10.5.8 on a PowerPC G5 tower. I'll be very grateful for any help in this matter. Thanks to Chris

    Hello

What is the best way to retrieve deleted mp3 files? I had a lapse of attention and I deleted a folder containing most of my music files. It is for the most part, the mp3 but there was regular audio files and some wav files in there also. I am running OSX Leopard 10.5.8 on a PowerPC G5 tower. I have another PPC machine to help the recovery, if I need, but at the moment, he is not appearing on my network (3 computers). I'm trying to change this soon. I'll be really grateful for any help in this matter.

    Thanks to Chris

If you emptied the Recycle Bin after you move the folder to the trash, and you don't have a time Machine or another backup, then it is lost, sorry.

What is the best way to preserve my iPhoto library had fusion - UN-intentionally - pictures of girls with mine as its iMac had stopped working. Some how I have about 48 000 pictures now where before I was about 11 000

The iMac's hard drive has been deleted in tact and two weeks ago, she bought a new iMac 27' which has only the "Photos" application, but in trying to restore his iPhoto library, it gets about 24% then stops with a po - up window saying "cannot continue due to inconsistancies", that these are we don't know.

I think using his old h/drive connected via usb to my iMac, I managed to save his library.

On an external drive, I would like to make my backups that are up to date for a few days so that my photos need to be secured.

    1. Can I remove my iPhoto library and then re - import of my external hard drive?

    2. Can I give my daughter a copy of the "iPhoto app" and install on its new iMac and then re - import photos into iPhoto?

I copy the library from the back to the top first before deleting anything, in case something goes wrong. You can choose which library to open hold down the option (or alt) key key and launch of iPhoto. In the menu that appears, select "Choose Library"

No. but you can give him the iphoto library and she can open it with Photos.

What is raid? A large number of people I know use raids.

RAID 1 (mirroring) is not a backup solution. RAID 1 uses two or
Several readers, each one duplicate of the other, to provide redundancy,
no backup. It is used in situations (almost always inside)
companies, not in homes) where any city cannot be tolerated.
because the way it works is that if a disk fails the other takes
    more seamlessly.

Although some people thing of RAID 1 as a backup technique, it is
what it is, because it is subject to a simultaneous loss of the
original and many of the main dangers facing the mirror
your data - serious power, close to the lightning seeds, virus
attacks, stolen computer, etc. Most companies that use RAID 1
also have a solid plan of external backup in place.

  • What is the best way to make a second copy of a series of photos on a hard drive after that I imported and made changes?

What is the best way to replace the second copies of photos created during import with revised versions? Export, seems to be an option, but is there a method named? I use Lightroom CC/6

I don't think you understand the concept of Lightroom. The settings are stored in the catalog. They are not applied to the images. The catalog is the key. If the images in the main location are damaged or lost, then you can copy the backup images at that location and any adjustments that have been made will be implemented. The main thing you want to be sure to do is have a backup of your catalog, as well as a backup of your images. You can export copies of your images as JPEG, PSD or TIF images, and these copies will have all the adjustments included.

This is a very common and classic situation:

    http://helpx.Adobe.com/Photoshop-elements/KB/backup-restore-move-catalog-Photoshop.html

Just make sure that your backup on the external drive is ok: you should find a "backup.tly" file in the folder.

Use the organizer of PSE11 to restore the backup of the PSE7: the first step restores all your multimedia files, the second automatically performs a conversion of catalogue in format PSE11.

Read the note in the link above on the restoration of XP to the ulterior Win operating system. You can also restore to a location 'custom '. For example in a "C:\My new library" folder. Make sure the main folder is accessible to all users, and if you wish, you can move the catalog (database), itself from this location to the default location: Catalog Manager, ability to move catalogs in location that is accessible to all users.
