What is the best way to keep the two synchronized computers?

I just got Lr4, which I use in addition to CS5.5 Design Premium, and I want to use Lr as the editor and a primary raw file manager.

I continue my work and computers synchronized via a 2 TB external drive that fits in my pocket and SmartSync Pro software. With this configuration, I just connect the drive and the software copies all the files that are new or modified, leaving the rest untouched. So it is a very quick and painless process that allows me to work every machine without missing a step.

This configuration has served me well for a long time, but with Lightroom, there is an additional complication: the catalogue.

So I need to know the most effective way for the transport of catalog exchange from one machine to another, using the portable player. The directory structure is the same between the two machines - but the drive letters are not the same, so the files are technically not in the same place.

I see that it is a menu called element Export in the catalog. Who will do it? And how will import on the other machine? To import from a different catalog?

No need to make things more complicated they must be

    Use the align palette and define an object as a key object. Choose align to: and that is defined on the object key (if not already set)

    1. Select a group
    2. Shift click to add the next group to the selection
    3. then click on a group to set this as a key object (the sketch will turn into a "BOLD" since CS4 to mean is a key object)

  • What is the best way to keep the block diagram / cleaning of façade?

    Hello

    I'm relatively new to Labview so I'm not able to say if I'm overloading my programs or make my too crowded block diagram. I was wondering if there was some ways to tell if I can simplify my programming just by looking (perhaps only experience contributes to these things)?

    I enclose my VI here. Currently, she is able to monitor the voltage and current of two engines. On the screen, you can see an indicator with the voltage and current values and there are cards that can display signals of different engines with a menu drop-down.

    The façade is pretty clean, in my opinion of novice, but the block schema seems messy to me, just at the first glance. I foresee a problem occurring in the future however. In the future, I will have the VI to monitor 50 engines globally. All of the programming will be the same as the one I have now, but it will have 50 indicators and unfortunately 50 times just about everything. I would like to avoid this, but I don't know how I did.

    I use a USB-6009. I use its four differential inputs to monitor the voltage and current of the two engines. In the future, I will get more units DAQ (25 in total because 2 motors can be monitored for each data acquisition). The new Renault will help will help with more resource space, but I think things complicate with the added option of 24 more Assistants of data acquisition (as used in my code).

    Thanks for any help you might be able to provide!

    Usually, it is above all the experience that will teach you the best methods for making your code to do pretty. I don't know anyone who is proud of his first application of claws. There are some resources out there to help with best practices, as that group on ni.com, but you will learn most of your own development.

    Your façade is superb. FPs in general really are to you. You can do it as ugly or pretty as you want. When you have a few controls in duplicate and the Group of indicators, you should use clusters and berries to simplify. You can use a bit of cleanup in this regard, but not much. In addition, I personally hate read red text unless it is a warning any.

    Your block diagram could use a little cleaning in a sense of modularity. You have a lot of repeated code, which you might consolidate in to a Subvi, which is used in multiple locations, or in a loop For. A general rule is to keep your block diagram within a single monitor. You should not scroll. Your application is quite simple, so it is difficult to BUMBLE

    Here are a few details on your block diagram:

    • Click with the right button on your devices on the block diagram and uncheck the "display as icon". You are welcome.
    • Operations on each waveform "(x*2-4)" / 16 in double ": create a Subvi and/or run the waveforms through a loop."
    • You do a lot of 2-element arrays and then indexing. Just replace the ones that have a Select node based on digital.
    • All your code runs every time, including the knots of your property at the bottom, which is not necessary. As you learn LabVIEW architectures, you will learn how to get around this with the initialization and the output of code, but for now, you should put a case around those structure for only when the engine numbers change.
    • I don't know how you're timing your main loop, but you should put a delay in there because you don't need the DAQmx node shoot as fast as your CPU will allow.

    There are videos of intro free that you can watch to learn what OR think in terms of coding and teach you some of the basic features and such. Here's a three-hour course, and here's a six-hour course.

  • What is the best way to keep the high resolution when recording "for the web".

    the files that I save to the web so I can get them in jpg (or gif) are coming very pixelated.  That's when I print the image.

    What is the best way to save for the web, an image and keep the good resolution.

    using a business card template.  template Avery will allow me to attach images I want to project.  to do this...  I 'get file computer' and it deletes the image in but real little... then you are supposed to expand on your work as you want.  Well, when I enlarge this image file, it gets pixelated bad.  I think it's the way that I am saving it.  I do not adjust anything when I save.  Maybe I should.  This is where I need advice.

    That's what avery model notes on the images, I am allowed to use - when downloading the image, the maximum allowed size is 4 MB.  You can download the JPG and PNG RGB or CMYK images.  so when you recommend things, can you please take this into account

    Thanks for oyur times.

    Aida,.

    When you register with the default template using save for web, it's usually a setting very low.

    While in the registration window, you can set the size in pixels of the image you want with the quality and the resolution too.

    Refer to video tv.adobe.com save for web or Adobe Help file for detailed instructions.

  • 10 workstation online best way to keep the host offline and guests?

    Newbie question: Workstation 10 - have a host Windows 7 Ultimate x 64, several guests Linux Mint 17.3 (KDE). The machine is portable i7 with 16 GB of RAM. The network is wireless only (cannot use cable in current situation).

    I would keep the Windows 7 host permanently out of the network. The guests are online and used for web and similar access. What would be the best way to set up on the side of the network, assuming that it can be done?

    Thanks a lot for your help!

    PH

    Hello

    Well this is... depends on what you intend to 'offline' for the customer.

    If you are planning that the guests to be accessible from the outside (I mean through wifi to your host), the host has (?) to be somehow connected, so online?

    There is perhaps a way to restrict connections from hosts on the outside... so that web page in emails do not work, but the host is will still be able to receive a part of traffic in my humble OPINION.

    With my knowledge and my experience, I know:

    -You can connect a guest with his * own * USB hardware. I mean you can disconnect from host a WiFi USB (or USB ethernet adapt) card and connect it to a given host. So the host could be offline (no wifi, no ethernet), but the guest can be connected through the material, it will set up.

    -guests could communicate with each other via a 'host-only' adapter or a bridge (as your ethernet NiC).

    -When the ethernet NiC host is physically connected (and guests on her bridge), communication between clients is broken... but a software solution is to add a dummy loopback adapter to simulates network card is connected. In this used during travels by train, without ethernet or wifi, to avoid changing the working configuration of the guests in bridge on the ethernet adapter that I used to have to work! :-) Modifying simply physical WMnet0 (eg) to ethernet virtual network configuration microsoft Loopback to tour.

    Took the 3 above stated and your configuration:

    -1 host must be offline

    -several guests that should be online

    -ethernet to the home not connected

    You can try to:

    -installation of a map of looping to the host (http://www.groovypost.com/howto/microsoft/install-a-loopback-adapter-in-windows-7/ )

    -connect and configure a physical map of wifi USB to one of your comments (comments should have a virtual USB controller installed).

    -share your comments above WiFi connection.

    -Configure the * other * invited to use the above share under their gateway address (and DNS I guess?) and set up their virtual connection through the loop (you may need to manually change the address/subnet of the closure to match that of the shared connection).

    It's an idea to dig.

    Own a unique login prompt works for sure, but use it as a gateway to the other guests might be the tricky part (at least for me)!

    My 2 cents! ;-)

    Kind regards.

  • How the best way to keep the information user´s?

    Hello people.
    In my application, I use the method getDBTransaction () .getSession (). getUserData() to store user information, such as the ID, user name, etc...
    However when my application is used by more than 20 users. Application loses the information in session variables very often. In most cases the user session is lost in less than 2 minutes of use. Some entities in my application using this information to fuel elements of the entities which are necessary for the table, so that the application generates errors like Houston-27014 and Houston-25017.
    I wonder what the best way to store this information so that I can use the methods of the data model and user interface methods.

  • Best way to keep a list and a synchronized SimpleListProperty

    Hello
    What is the best way to (i. e. - for the moment work) to keep my 'plain' list and JFX SimpleListPropertry synchronized? Currently, I think something like that, but I'm sure that there is a better way:

        public void setMyList(List<String> myList) {
            this.myList = myList;
        }
    }

    public class MyEntityJFX {
        private MyEntity backer=new MyEntity();
        private SimpleListProperty<String> myList=new SimpleListProperty<>(FXCollections.observableList(new ArrayList<String>()));

        public final List<String> getMyList()

  • Best way to keep 2 VMs on 2 different Macs in sync?

    Hello

    I have a Macbook laptop, Leopard, who inherited an iMac under Tiger, all data and applications running. I just tried to resume the VM on the Macbook & he warns against possible instability if I continue. -He looks so much like that I have to create a virtual machine on the Macbook & then import or attach files hard of the orginal VM on the iMac. Will this work? & what is the best way to then maintain the virtual machines synchronized? (two-way changes possible). Will I have to use the tools of command line or that can do everything in the GUI? Oh - the virtual machine is Win2k Pro, BTW

    Thank you

    GAM

    (1) If you (Mac) sync s/w, who has worked at the block level (IE, avoiding mega-file copies), why don't keep you them synchronized like that?

    It works (assuming that you do not synchronize when the virtual machine is running, and of course). My recommendation against the clock was on the assumption that you do not have block-level backup software and would therefore have to copy everything, which is probably too big to be useful.

    (2) are violate you licensing agreements if you have the exact same virtual machine on 2 different Macs (continue as above) & never run them at the same time?

    WARNING: I am not a lawyer, nor I speak on behalf of someone else. I think it is an acceptable thing to do. The essential fact is no more than a version is never used both - you may think that moving the virtual machine of it around (which I think is undoubtedly very well) and make a backup on another computer (which I think is also unquestionably very well). Synchronization of two guests and never use a version of the virtual machine, you're just swapping which copy the backup and that is in use.

  • Best way to keep synchronized on formats in InDesign history?

    I'm working on an ebook that will be published in pdf and epub, and possibly another format and all the work is done in InDesign CS4 (even if I intend to use Acrobat to the final stages of PDF.) My problem is how to work with the stories when I am preparing them for two different formats. The stories are basically done and I divide in series double for each set to prepare its own format, but there is risk to make small adjustments here and there and ending up with two significantly different versions of the same book. The PDF has a lot more in shape, of course, and some of the titles epub and styles have changed to control the appearance of the table of contents.

    Should I keep a set of stories and copy them to separate for epub and pdf versions when I'm really ready to publish, to work towards a format and export the stories of new files when I finished the first format and ready to work with the second, or work with conditional formatting, or...?

    Any suggestions? I think that is what InDesign is for, but I can't seem to find a best practice for this scenario.

    Best practice is to keep one file as long as humanly possible.

    In this case, you "branched" a version for another format; I would say that you only change all others (except formatting stuff you mentioned), but inform your customer that this version needs to be worked. Work on your 'real' version until it is really, truly and only then make other versions.

    It's another story (no pun intended) if the transition between the two versions can be automated. This way you only still works on the 'real' version, but then you might generate with each edition you do - you can always not do work in the dumbed-down version.

  • Best way to keep APPL_TOP synchronization

    I have two (APP01 & APP02) application servers. They are not an appl_top shared, they are separated. I have a primary database and a standby database connected to the layer apps (DB01 (primary) & DB02 (at rest). My question is, in the past I've just applied fixes to APP01 and not APP02. I'm now trying to find a process to keep them synchronized. My thoughts would be to copy 806_ORACLE_HOME, APPL_TOP and IAS_ORACLE_HOME and then regenerate the context file using adbldxml.sh. Not quite sure. I don't want to use rsync and not against cloning of secondary level every time, I wanted to just make sure I had the process. My biggest concern is running Autoconfig on the secondary node, I don't want to influence users log into the experience. Thank you.

    Hello

    My biggest concern is running Autoconfig on the secondary node, I don't want to influence users log into the experience.

    Running on the secondary node AutoConfig would not affect the connection of users.

    Also, if you speak to synchronize files from application of the main node level, what is the point of mentioning the database pending? I was under the impression that you want to synchronize the files in application layer between the primary and the standby node, and this explains my previous answer!

    Thank you
