What is winmail.fol?

Whether it's Outlook, I suggest that you add the location to your list of sources for email and provide you a link with instructions (and a link to more help from experts), but I don't know how it works with Windows Mail.

Please repost your question in the Forum of programs at: http://social.answers.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/vistaprograms/threads where the people who specialize in programs like Windows Mail will be more than happy to help you with your problem.

    Hello

    ·          What program did you use to back up files?

Here are two ways to restore the saved messages:

Step 1: Before you start Windows Mail, copy the folder saved in C:\Users\username\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Windows mail storage folder.

Step 2: Start Windows Mail and import messages in the backup storage folder.

  • What is mail.fol of victory?

I have a HP Pavilion laptop running Windows 7. The HARD drive has failed and I have a replacement, but you must create a new backup. I have an external 1 TB HARD drive with Memeo backup software that works well in recent years. I tried to create a new backup and after 8 hours, the Memeo software, then spent 4 hours additional backup a file called Ko 1 win mail.fol about 5500 times before completing. I can't find a file called mail.fol to win anywhere on the PC, so I'm a little confused about this.

    Help

If you want to know the only meaning of winmail.fol then this is the storage of e-mail files in Windows Vista Mail file (as it was before for Outlook Express) and like outlook.pst is for Microsoft Outlook.

  • Winmail.fol can't import to Windows Mail

    (1) I exported my Windows mail message in a folder.

    (2) I've reformatted my computer and then re-installed all programs.

    (3) I imported my e-mail Windows messages.

Mistakes: After importing, I see my mail folders (Inbox, sent and other), but the folders are empty.

If I open the backup folder, I see my folders (Inbox, sent and other) and in each folder, I see a file called winmail.

How to open these winmail files so I can access my saved emails?

You messages must be kept as discreet. EML files in the subfolders of the folder that you exported to.  If they aren't there, they cannot be exported properly.  If they are there, you can drag and drop them in Windows Mail.  In addition, you can search for. EML files which, again, can be move and fell into Windows Mail.

  • Why e-mail messages are saved as .fol when I record to the Flash drive?

When I save my Windows Mail emails to my flash drive it saves them as files .fol and I can not open them.

How do you open them and is it possible to save the email in an easily accessible format?

    Hello

Winmail.FOL contains information about the folder itself, it does not all e-mail messages.  The actual messages are stored as discreet. EML files that can be imported or slipped and fell in Windows Mail folders.

Windows Mail does not export directly on an external support.

First, export the e-mail messages to your hard drive, then copy from there on your USB.

  • My saved emails are in the format .fol. Anyone know about this format

I had Windows Vista with Windows Mail.  I used the export option to back up my email because I sent my computer to be fixed.  I got another computer which has Windows 7.  I am trying to import my backup email.  The files have been imported but not messages.  the message format is .fol (FOL file type).  Help!

    Of http://www.file-extensions.org/fol-file-extension

MAD files are created only, that the user exported e-mail messages and folders of Windows Mail e-mail. The exported messages are stored in the same directories as in Windows Mail and in each directory is created, file winmail.fol (Windows Mail) or wlmail.fol (Windows Live Mail). If messages are imported to Windows Mail or Windows Live Mail, they are sorted for directories, they stored prior to export. If fol files do not exist, Windows Mail will import e-mail messages too, but it will not sort them to the directories.

  • How can I retrieve emails lost since the e-mail window?

When I tried to save my e-mail messages to a flash drive, I lost all with their different folders.  They appear in my trash, or flash drive that I tried to copy them.  He had no problems in the backup in the flash drive various other documents to my computer with an operating system from Vista Home Premium Service Pack 2 installed.

I can still access Windows Mail, but all records are missing, except for the folders such as the Inbox, Outbox, sent, deleted and junk that come with the program.  Other folders are empty.  In a test, I found that I can always send and receive emails and those test messages have been maintained.  All previous messages are still missing.

The only place where I've found yet an indication of previous Windows Mail files was in C/users/username/AppData/Local/Microsoft/Windows Mail/Local folders.  The records were there, but each had only a single file of 1 KB, winmail.fol, that I couldn't open.  Go into Windows Mail in the folder programs gave nothing useful.

I used the system restore to set up the computer to a previous state, before this problem occurs.  He did it so perfectly, except that e-mail messages Windows were still missing no matter how or where I looked.

I am at a loss what to try next.  Any suggestions would be welcome.

    Thank you.   Sincerely, Buster

  • How to import Windows Mail emails in Outlook 2007 on Windows 7 when getting my ERREURLa message: "file not could not be opened.

    Hello

I have used Vista before I put now to Windows 7. On Vista, I used Windows Mail as my email client. Now on Windows 7, I would use Outlook 2007 and import my old emails.

Before I upgraded to Windows 7, Vista help - I exported all my emails from Windows Mail on my external hard drive, where I now .eml files and in each subfolder of emails, I have a winmail.fol file.

After I installed Windows 7 and Office 2007 now, I tried simply to import the files exported from my external hard drive by: "file-> import-> import Internet mail and addresses-> choose the folder to the top folder with the files of e-mail-> OK" However, I always get the error message: "the mail folder not could be opened. If another application is using this file, please close it and try again. "I don't understand what is wrong and what needs to be changed that it works.

    I tried the things:
    * On Windows 7 now: I activated Windows Mail and imported the exported files, which worked well. Therefore, I am currently using Windows Mail as my standard client on Windows 7. Now on Windows 7, I exported my emails again to Windows Mail and tried later import new files exported into Outlook 2007, as described above. I get the same message error ("could not mail file be open...").

    * On Windows 7: I downloaded and installed Windows LIVE Mail. Imported from my original (exported under Vista) of e-mails from my HDD external and exported them once again, in the hope that Outlook 2007 may be more willing to import files exported Windows LIVE Mail. It didn't work either.

    * On Windows 7: I opened the folder with the emails on my external hard drive and Outlook 2007 and dragged the .eml file in Outlook 2007. It worked, in a sense, that I got the emails and the content of these emails in Outlook 2007. This method is not, is to import the email title and time when he received etc. This method is therefore unnecessary.

    * On Windows 7: I've always been able to import my contacts in Outlook 2007.

I really hope someone can help me and describe what I do to import my emails.

    I appreciate all help.

    See you soon

I take a match to open an e-mail from some of my sent items, Windows Mail stops.  All other open normally. The same thing happens when I try to open the folder that contains e-mail messages and from this contact.

    original title: Windows Mail problem

Do you have any background scanning enabled?  This could be what hangs WinMail.  I don't see what else would break WM when you select only the message in the preview pane, as the body of the message is not yet loaded then.  You could try to disable antivirus and highlight the message with invalid preview pane later, just to see if it stops.

I would offer to watch this message if you could it send me in attachment, but apparently you wouldn't be able to do it without crashing.

Windows Update has nothing to do with the upgrade of Windows.

Unlike Windows XP & Vista, Win7 does not have a default email Client. [What were thinking?]

You will need to install a (e.g. MS Outlook;) Windows Live Mail; Oiseau-tonnerre) , and then set it as a default for mail in CUSTOM (<>) Set Program Access and defaults of the computer before any function article send to or MailTo will become available.
