  so I suggest you use Firefox portable instead since you seem to have Windows and not Mac OSX or Linux.

  You can do more complicated it must be.

  In forms and reports Oracle Home, you will have a tnsnames.ora (ORACLE_HOME\NETWORK\ADMIN). If it's the file you changed, I would recommend cancelling all changes. Then simply copy and paste the entry from the db entries. So in you case put this in the file tnsnames.ora forms/States:

  (ADDRESS = (PROTOCOL = TCP)(HOST = USER-PC)(PORT = 1521))
  (CONNECT_DATA =
  (SERVER = DEDICATED)
  (SERVICE_NAME = orcl1)

  It may be necessary to change the 'USER-PC' above to the IP address or the loopback address (127.0.0.1).

  In the forms/States sqlnet.ora file make this change:

Rather than complete a rewrite - it is a simple upgrade. Depending on the complexity of your Forms 6i, you can / will run in upgrade problems, but they can be worked through. Oracle has published papers on how to migrate applications from older versions of forms for newer versions (have a look to:Oracle Forms modernization Oracle Forms 6i with Oracle Forms 11 g)
