When copying files to an external source...

To copy the files to my E: / my C: drive / Disc is... anyway to determine if the process is over... so that after that I have 'reuse' the disc I don't have to copy the files because the process of "writing" have not completed before I removed the destination?

Things left to assume:

E: is a CD/DVD player?

You burn a CD or DVD?  Is this a RW media type (you seem to indicate that with your 'reuse'...)?

The process should allow you to know it's done and the writing box that should have opened when you started writing on the CD/DVD must be closed.  Then you're done (assuming you are using the native Windows writing ability.)

    Hello

    (1) is the specific question of the images?

    (2) where the images are on the computer?

You can try the following methods and check the status of the issue.

    Method 1:

Configure the computer to clean start State to check software conflicts. See the following link on how to configure Windows XP to start in a "clean boot" State

Note: When the diagnosis is complete, don't forget to reset your computer to normal startup. Follow step 4 of the above article.

    Method 2:

If the problem is specific to the pictures folder, then it might be a problem with permission. You can try to take ownership of the folder and check if you can transfer it. read the following article.

  • In Windows 7 when you try to copy files to an external hard drive, getting the error "are you sure you want to copy this file without its properties?

I know there have been a few posts on this in the past, but I have a slightly different query.

To copy files from my drive NTFS of Windows 7 64 bit for my Western Digital My Book World Edition II 2 GB player manually, not with the WD software provided), for some files, the following message appears.
"Are you sure you want to copy this file without its properties?  The X file has properties that cannot be copied to the new location. »
After investigation, it appears that Western Digital My Book World Edition II is not NTFS format and is, in fact, driven Linux.
Their technical support has confirmed that, despite the message, it is safe to copy files and rely on this backup (I want to backup my drive HARD whole so I can do a clean install - so it's really important!).
Is anyone able to advise exactly what means the message in terms of properties lost?

If you right-click on one of the files in Windows Explorer, then select Properties, you will see the Details tab of the properties he wouldn't if the files have been copied to a drive not NTFS. They are written in an Alternate Data Stream (ADS), and the FAT format readers include ADS.

It depends on the file type of the importance of these properties. If you have spent a lot of time, adding titles and comments and authors and authors e-mail addresses to docprops your Word documents, for example, that the work would be lost.

If you can live with the loss of these properties, go ahead - standard properties will be re-writings in the file when you restore from backup. It's of course time and resources.

To avoid this problem, format your external drive to use the NTFS system.

  • 0 x 80070057 error when copying files

Simple copy / paste internal drive on USB key intermittently generates error 0 x 80070057. Usually does not occur unless the copy or issues (on the beach of 1 GB), files copied at the time of the error is not relevant. Very frustrating. This happens since I bought a key USB Verbatim 1 TB. Took training and exchanged against an Iomega 1 TB USB drive. The same problem only $56.00 poorer. Both drives are USB 3.0 compatible. I formatted entirely two drives after encountering the problem, but it has not changed. ChkDsk indicates that everything is OK. Problem occurs when I use my USB 3.0 port and when I use the USB 2.0 port on my laptop. Still have my old book size USB drive and I have no problem with him at all. Am on Windows 7 Ultimate N.

    I am running windows 8. Intel i7 3770 k.

  • Error code 0 x 8007052 when copying files from your computer to a memory stick

    Original title: error code 0 x 8007052

Hi, I'm copying pictures on a memory stick.  About half were copied everywhere but now I get the above error code and the remaining will not pass.  Any ideas, thanks

    Hi Mary,

If I understand correctly you get an error code when you try to copy files to a memory stick. I'll certainly try and help you get the problem solved. However, until we start could you give us some more information?

    1. when the last time you were able to copy files to the memory stick without any problem?

    2. you have any security program installed on the computer?

    3. are you aware of any recent software or hardware on the computer changes?

You can download and install the package of the article and check if it helps. If the problem persists, you can start the computer in a clean boot State, and then try to copy the files. Clean boot helps eliminate any conflict of third party software.

Note: Once the diagnosis is made, follow step 3 of section to configure the computer to start the Normal start.

Hope this information was helpful and let us know if you need help in the future about Windows. We will be happy to help you.

  • In LR 5 can't copy files to one external device to another

I am trying to copy my photos from an external drive (formatted MAC only) to another which is in the format ExFAT to allow me to use the pictures on PC and Mac.

One that has all of my files are all on the LR catalog.  LR allows me to copy the files to new external drive... IMPORT is not highlighted.  Help, please.  Thank you.

There is no function in Lightroom for photos that have already been imported, to copy from one place to the other. Move is possible, the copy is not.

Instead, you must make copies of your operating system, then in Lightroom, point Lightroom for photos new location via a right-click on the top-level folder and select the location of the update folder.

Oops this will double my work and take forever!

Copy all the pictures of these will take a long time, no matter how you do it.

DO NOT RE-IMPORT YOUR PHOTOS. Let me say again, with emphasis: DO NOT re - IMPORT YOUR PHOTOS.

Regarding the using the 3 t as the backup once done, how you make backups of new photos taken after today?

I run windows check disk on my external hard drive, I tried to run windows defrag, but it takes too Lowe and cancel (external HARD disk is 1 TB). I download a software defrag and defragmented my hard drive using fast (the software is O & O Defrag). I tried on another computer and got the same error. Is it a hardware problem. Y at - there any possibility to fix it. Thank you for helping

    Hello Nyfixen,

    1. have you changed the permission for the external hard drive or files you are trying to copy?

    2. you have all important data (files) stored on the external hard drive?

    3. are you able to copy the external hard drive to the computer?

The Autorun.inf could not be a problem for that. It always seems to be a problem of permission for me. Some hard drives have a jumper on them for write protection. You should check the configuration of jumpers, thank you consult the manual that came with the hard drive for permissions.

  • I want to copy files from one external hard drive to another and can not?

    Hello

I try to copy the photo files and video from one hard disk to another.

The donor 2 TB drive is formatted NTFS and the receiver is 1 TB OSX extended.

There are about 72 000 photos and 475 GB in size. The 56 video about 226 GB files copied with some lacks but then make drag and drop made the other files of 5 or 6.

I tried to drag and drop, but some files have been copied not. After a lot of research through what was had been transferred I found about 5,000 had not copied I then did drag and drop with each of the 20 files or if some copied OK.

The troublesome files kept suggesting that a file "already exists" and stops the process when I clicked ok.

I want to delete the NTFS drive and reformat for OS X extended and then replace them on the 2 TB drive.

What I am doing wrong? Need me a software to copy?

Select the drive in the disk, then Edit/restore utility and select your 2 TB drive in restoration since. This will probably reformat the external hard drive, erase all data.

  • Windows hangs when copying files

A Toshiba Satellite L305 under Vista Home Premium SP2. Have 4 WD-external hard drive (2 - 2T, 3T, 1 t) and 2-1 t simpledrive. For the more than 1 t, it seems to be a problem. When I try to copy/move the laptop HD externally, the system blocks to the point no entry is possible. Only way to regain access to the computer is to unplug and disconnect the battery. Since WD provide drivers for their HD and refer to MS, I need a way to solve this problem. I need to get my data on these HD so I can have easy access to it (I have a lot of data files), I used to not have any problem with WD - HD external until the last three years. What you have done for the drivers does not work. Either by the way, I learned is not to move since when the freeze happens I lose the data completely. If this is your attempt to get everyone to move to W7, shame on you. I still have systems large on 3.1, 95, 98, ME, XP, & why Vista is such a pain. But you no longer support these systems more alumni who had fewer problems.

    Hi Shano0059,

I suggest to turn off Windows auto tuning and check whether the problem is resolved.

To do this, follow these steps.

    a. click the Start button.
    b. type command and then right-click on the result that appears on the top of the page and select run as administrator.
    c. type this command without the quotes and press ENTER.

""netsh interface tcp set global autotuninglevel = disabled".

Note: to allow Windows Auto-Tuning type this command without quotation marks in the command calls by following the procedure described above, and then type.

""netsh interface tcp set global autotuninglevel = normal".

  • "File Name Too Long" when copying files on USB using Windows 7 Home Premium (64-bit)

When I copy about 60 GB of library files in a backup folder on a USB key, at the end of the copy, it is a dialog box indicating "file name too Long for the Destination Folder.  It shows that there are 62 records like that, and I can choose to ignore these files.

    1. I had formatted the USB stick to NTFS - which does not allow large file names?

    2. How can I see which files have this problem so I can shorten the file names?

    Hello

What is the capacity of the USB?

Were you able to copy before?

Try to format the drive once and then try and check if it is beneficial because it can also happen when there are viruses.

You can also check the drive for errors.

  • path is too deep message when copying files to the hard disk to usb thumb drive

am runnjing Windows professional xp and have recently begun to meet with messages saying 'Filename' path is too deep, trying to move files from my hard drive to a USB key. I realize there is a limit on the length of path, I think that 250 characters, but I'm no where near this limit. Move files with long length of path names and file with length of shortest path names are not.

It seems that less than 100K spreadsheets okay and spreadsheets more than 100K are not. I think my problem was with Open Office but I also struggle with the larger PDF files.

If I one of these "problem files", open ones I can't move or copy and try to save them on my drive of thimb, the system hangs for several minutes and sometimes tells me that I started recording order with an invalid character.

I see others have problems similar encounteres on several internet forums. Is the cause of this known? Is there a fix I can install to remove the problem?

    Try RichCopy.

    Hello

What is the file system on your USB key?

Check if it works on another computer.

I suggest the first backup all data on the disk USB, then FormatLe drive to NTFS. This seems to have solved the problem for many users with the same issue.

Follow these steps to format the USB.
    a. right click on the drive and select format.
    b. Select NTFS as the file system.
    c. Click Start to start the formatting process.
