When I click on a PDF link (in Chrome 46.0.2490.71 m) it downloads the document to my PC. Is there a way to just open the PDF file in the browser without downloading it?

I have the 'Open in browser' button checked.

Running Windows 10 home edition.

Hi albion31,

Google Chrome uses no more Adobe PDF viewer plugin, if its on PDF viewer plugin does not work then it is supposed to be a problem as the end of Google Chrome.

However, see this KB doc. helps Acrobat | Display PDF in browser. DC of Acrobat, Acrobat Reader DC could be useful.

Kind regards
Nicos

I have Acrobat, how do I block Reader to install automatically when I click on a PDF page? If I let the reader install, I can't change the default program to open PDF files in Acrobat, it is always default to the player. The only way to choose Acrobat as default editor, I uninstall the reader 1.

Drive does not auto install when you click on a PDF file. I think you mean "open". In any case, to set the PDF Viewer, choose Edition > Preferences > General > Set Default PDF Handler.

  • I can enable editing in the browser without catalyst for business

I just downloaded the trial version but have not yet used.  I've been watching all day on Adobe Muse tutorials adobe and so far it has everything I'm looking for.

I have a question, however, I am currently designing a website for a client who would like to have in the edition browser available in order to update the text and photo.  I work for a company with their own COMPUTER gurus who will be the host of the Web site. Is it possible to enable editing in the browser without using Business catalyst or having the site hosted by adobe?  If this is not the case, this is a feature that is eventually added to Muse in the very near future?

    Hello

Update June 2014 to Muse allows In-Browser editing for Muse sites hosted with third-party providers (not Adobe).

    See https://helpx.adobe.com/muse/using/whats-new.html#In-browser%20Editing%20enhancements for more details.

It is very frustarting as Windows hides these obvious options without giving you a way easty to change.  I don't know what has caused the change at first.

WMP is set as default player for all supported media types.

Solution: Although WMP is already set as default program for all its supported video format, I had to go to set your default programs and select explicitly.

Looks like the info bar itself would have the option available.

  • Unable to open a .pdf file in a browser.

For years, I ran Acrobat 6 standard.  My wife and I share the same office - it uses IE for its browser. I use Firefox.  Earlier this year we both started getting the following error message when you try to open a PDF from our resepctive browsers, that is, by clicking on a link to the .pdf file:

"Adobe Acrobat/Reader that is running can be used to display PDF files in a web browser. If please exit Adobe Acrobat/Reader and exit your browser and try again. »

To the best of my knowledge, Acrobat or reader was working at the time (unless it somehow goes in a context that I couldn't find).  I thought maybe it was a little problem with Acrobat 6, so I've upgraded to Acrobat 9 standard a week ago and the reader 9.1 3 weeks.

The problem persists, although not always, and the only way to work around what I've found is to click right on the link on the Web page and save it to the desktop, then double-click on the icon and it opens.  It's a bit of a pain.

Has anyone encountered this before?  You have a solution?

Adobe STRONGLY recommends that you have NOT Acrobat and Reader on the SAME system. Based on my experience, the presence of these two products causes all sorts of unpredictable behavior.

If you need Acrobat to create and edit PDF files, you need not Reader to open PDF files in any browser. You must delete a program or another and do a repair on the product remaining thereafter. I recommend also that after the removal of one product, you restart your system and then to repair the other product. If Acrobat or Reader is installed on your system, browsers should load this product to read the PDF file.

    Good luck.

    Hi PAULKRISSEL,

This function is not supported natively in Windows. You may may find a third of the program that will change the default to q.com.

Preflight check should give you an idea of the problem. It may be that the file must be flattened before attempting the conversion. Not all aspects of a PDF file can be converted to PDF/A.

  • I want to disable firefox 19 pdf viewer and use foxit in the browser without downloading.

I tried two methods that I have heard so far to disable the new firefox pdf 19 viewr:
-in total: config pdfjs.disable set to true
-options > Applications > set display pdf application

The problem: when I'm on the Foxit pdf viewing application, firefox automatically downloads the pdf file to open it in the separate application. Until firefox 19, application of Foxit reader will open in the browser. How can Foxit not having an add-on firefox, I disable the pdf viewer 19 firefox and use Foxit Reader to open PDF files as a new tab in the browser?

To display the content in a Firefox tab, it generally takes a plugin. If that's not come with the main installer, it seems that you can use one of them:

  • When I download a PDF file from my browser it converts it to a word document automatically.

    How can I fix it?

Nope. It is not "convert" because a browser can not do with a download.

    This is a file association.

Right-click on a downloaded PDF file and choose "Properties".

Where it says, 'Open with', select drive from the menu drop down. (You may need to browse to find in C/Program FIles(x86)/Adobe/Reader11.0/Reader)

    Click 'Apply' then 'OK '.

A PDF file will open with the reader.

    Hello

We have currently upgraded Acrobat 8 standard, Acrobat 10.1.6. On our old version of Acrobat, when we unchecked the option in the preferences - Internet - view the PDF in the browser, it would open files in a new window, Acrobat.

With X installed, we don't seem to have this option more. Things turn one of the two following ways:

Display in browser checked = PDF is displayed in the browser (IE9)

Uncontrolled browser display = save as dialog box appears when you click the link in the browser

It doesn't seem to be the solution we front aircraft, where there is enough to open the file in a new window, Acrobat.

Are there any settings that would back this expected behavior of my user?

    Thanks in advance,

    John

    Hello

Browsers are evolving so quickly (a few months) it was impossible to keep this work in all browsers. The setting is left as is his preference of registry.

There is a cmd line property that works. See the Administrator's Guide: www.adobe.com/go/acrobatetk.

  • White screen when you click on a PDF on the internet

Since the installation of Internet Explorer 11, whenever I click on a link which is a .pdf file I get a blank screen with a small X in a box at the top left of the screen.  If I save target (link) to my desk top and open it from there it works fine.  Microsoft technical support had me reset my settings to Internet Explorer, which did not solve the problem.  Adobe Reader is the default program for .pdf files.  Does anyone have a solution?

Download, unzip, run the registry fix from the attached to it.

  • local HTML-files in app browser without download in HTMLRescources.zip?

Is it possible to display the local html file in the browser in app without download in HTMLRecources.zip?

If I use the overlay web content Folio I choose a local html file. It will be displayed another property but unfortunately in a setting not in the in-app browser.

    Are there opportunities?

The only way to do this is through the HTMLResources.

  • Web site automatically resizes too large for the window of the browser without creating scrollbars.

I recently installed FF. There is a specific Web site, I'll often that works very well in other major browsers. However, when I access it in FF, the window is displayed correctly for a split second and then re - resizes automatically to a size that does not fit within the browser window. I can't use 'CTRL -' to bring it back in full view. In addition, there is no scroll bar after resizing. I have reset FF to its default state and I restarted with modules disabled without result. This is a site based on Silverlight, if it has an impact any on the situation. Any suggestions?

I just found a simple solution that solved my problem.

Although CTRL + and CTRL - do not work on this Web site, I've done the bar of menus visible ("Firefox |") Options | Bar menu") and was then able to use the" View | " Zoom | Zoom out' to get the site Web fit in the browser window.

For some reason, the site was being automatically zooms in when you access first with a new version of FF. Once I zoom out using the menu instead of CTRL-, I was able to close the browser and reopen it and it "remind" the zoom level for the site.
