When I click on firefox a message pops up saying "' error: platform version 40.0.3 is not compatible with minVersion >; = 38.0.5 maxVersion <; = 38.0.5" how to fix it? "
This is an image of what appears when I click on Firefox
This usually happens because of a Firefox update failure that left you with a mixture of old and update files in the Firefox program folder.
Do a clean reinstall and delete the program folder before Firefox to (re) install a new copy of the current version of Firefox.
- Download the installer of Firefox and save the file to the desktop
https://www.Mozilla.org/en-us/Firefox/all/
If possible to uninstall your current version of Firefox to clean the Windows registry and settings in the security software.
- Do NOT remove the "personal data" when you uninstall your current version of Firefox, because this will remove all profile folders and you lose personal data such as bookmarks and passwords including data profiles created by other versions of Firefox.
Delete the program folder Firefox before installing newly downloaded copy of the Firefox installer.
- (32-bit Windows) "C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox\"
- (Windows 64 bit) "C:\Program Files (x 86) \Mozilla.
- It is important to remove the Firefox program folder to delete all the files and make sure that there is no problem with the files that were the remains after uninstallation.
Your bookmarks and other personal data are stored in the Firefox profile folder and will not be affected by a uninstall and (re) install, but do NOT delete personal data when you uninstall Firefox which removes all Firefox profile folders and you lose your data.

I noticed that firefox updated last night before I shut down my computer, and then when I turned it on this morning I received the error message that I described above. It doesn't let me Open firefox.
I don't know what you see or what generates error messages.
Firefox 10.0.1 should run on Windows XP, I have it running on an XP. I guess that the error message comes from a site/file Firefox tries to open or some plugin that you normally use with Firefox. You can try to confirm exactly what is the full message and it generates.
Maybe if you attach a screenshot of the message it would be useful to clarify what's happening...

Computer is Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit. Firefox has work fine for over a year on this computer. Nothing has been changed or updated updated except Windows update indicates that it installed updates on August 19. I had computer week before because only out of town, back entrance and began August 18, but Firefox has worked that day. Does not use FF again until today. Today August 22, firefox does not start, shortcut icon changed program not there. Exe in the folder when you click Poster error message says the version of this file is not compatible with the version of Windows, I am running. Exe of Firefox shows created on 20 August. I suspect the update, Windows or FF but lean towards windows, which was spent, who broke things. I noticed that IE 10 updates, updates of .NET framework and the malicious software removal tool have been installed. I tried to restart the computer, has not set. Tried to run as administrator, did not work. I don't want to uninstall FF, at least have to because of all the things I have here, bookmarks, last past passwords, etc..
Hello
Some Firefox problems can be solved by performing a clean reinstall. This means that you remove Firefox program files (not the profile folder, where the bookmarks are stored) and then reinstall Firefox. Please follow these steps:
Note: You can print these steps or consult them in another browser.
- Download the latest version of Firefox from http://www.mozilla.org office and save the installer to your computer.
- Once the download is complete, close all Firefox Windows (click on quit in the file menu or Firefox).
- Remove the Firefox installation folder, which is located in one of these locations, by default:
- Windows:
- C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox
- C:\Program Files (x 86) \Mozilla Firefox
- Mac: Delete Firefox in the Applications folder.
- Linux: If you have installed Firefox with the distribution-based package manager, you must use the same way to uninstall: see Install Firefox on Linux. If you have downloaded and installed the binary package from the Firefox download page, simply remove the folder firefox in your home directory.
- Windows:
- Now, go ahead and reinstall Firefox:
- Double-click on the downloaded Setup file and go through the steps in the installation wizard.
- Once the wizard is completed, click to open Firefox directly after clicking the Finish button.
Please report back to see if this helped you!
Thank you.

I have a large CD collection published by National Geographic. The difficulty lies in the installation of the program that displays the pages. Setup of the program ends. ins. These Photo CD were produced by mindscape. When you try to contact them, they are based in France, and it is impossible to get support for this product. Hello malaglinskom,
In addition to what Azam offered, you may try the following:
If you are running Windows 7 Professional or Ultimate version, install Windows Virtual PC and Windows XP mode (http://www.microsoft.com/windows/virtual-pc/default.aspx) and run your software in Windows XP.
If you run Windows 7 Home Premium, try VirtualBox (www.virtualbox.org) or VMware Player (www.vmware.com), or any other software virtualization part 3rd and install a separate copy of Windows XP (family or professional edition) for this purpose. You can find the virtualization software free that will run on Windows 7 Home Premium.
Hope this information helps.
Sincerely,
Marilyn

I get this message when you try to run an old MS-DOS - based program in Win-7 Ultimate 64-bit.
"The version of this file is not compatible with the version of Windows you are using. Check your computer system information to see whether you need a x 86 (32 bit) or x 64 (64-bit) version of the program and then contact the software publisher. »
I understand that I am under a 64 bit OS, but is it possible to get this program to run? I was wondering if anyone has tips :)
Hi Bcopeland,
Thanks for posting your question in the Microsoft Community.
Based on the information, you are trying to install and use an old ms - dos program based in Windows-7 Ultimate 64-bit.
The problem is a software that was created for Windows 95, 98, and Windows XP has no way to work correctly with an operating system that didn't even exist when the software was written. However, the error message you get normally means that you have a 32-bit software that you are trying to install on a 64-bit system.
You can check the compatibility of the program with Windows 7, in the Compatibility Center.
If the program is not compatible, then you try to install and run the program in compatibility mode.
a. click right on the program.
b. click Properties.
c. click on the tab compatibility.
d. Select run this program in compatibility mode and select Windows Vista or whatever to use the system, the program was executed successfully.
Here is an article that gives you more information on this:
Make older programs in this version of Windows
If the problem persists, you can get in touch with the software vendor to see for the latest version of the program to use the same system of 64-bit Windows 7.
Hope the helps of information.
If you need assistance in the future to resolve any issues related to Windows, post your query and we will be happy to help you.

Error: Platform version 1.9.2.4 is not compatible with minVersion > = 1.9.2.6 maxVersion = 1.9.2.6 maxVersion
Eric, this can happen after an update has failed that partially changed your Firefox installation directory.
Try a clean reinstall:
1. Download the Firefox installer from Mozilla.com and save it to your desktop or other location. 2. Make sure that Firefox is closed completely 3. Delete the Firefox installation directory (On Windows, this is typically the C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox folder that contains "firefox.exe" and other Firefox program files and folders). 4. Reinstall Firefox by running the installer you downloaded previously.
Your personal settings, including bookmarks and history, will not be lost.

When I downloaded Firefox and checked my extensions, I've been informed that Firefox is not compatible with the prevention of malware from my Webroot security package. I use it successfully with Windows and just renewed for another year. What do you do to protect myself? I'm not a computer expert, so if you can answer in plain language that would be appreciated. In addition, we stream video much and I noticed that DivX is also not compatible. What should I do about it? Thank you.
Firefox has had its own fake Web / since 2008 malware protection.
http://www.Mozilla.com/en-us/Firefox/phishing-protection/Firefox Add-ons developers are responsible for these add-ons up to date as new versions of Firefox are available. Check with Webroot & DivX on updates for their Firefox extensions.
That said, the modules that are hosted on the official website of the AddonsMozilla.Org are tested and 'hit' by compatibility automatically, if these modules are considered to be compatible with a new version of Firefox that is about to be released. For modules that are not "compatible", the developer of the add-on Gets an email telling them basically what needs to be fixed. AMO extensions hosted are automatically updated as required by Firefox. The 'check' available updates each time is that Firefox is open.
For modules that are not hosted on AMO, there is a 'updateURL' function that allows to have Firefox check for an update across the internet, the a particular extension developer said. Unfortunately, too many developers take advantage of this feature and needlessly let their users to search an update themselves. who then need to manually install the hotfix or update version.
It's like a bunch of clowns of circus without master ring to 'bring in the clowns' at the right time in the show.

Everything was fine until that firefox automatically installed the latest version and it was not compatible with my version of mac. Normally it simply restores the version I was using but this time the old version download disappeared from my office

Hello Am9816, try pressing windows key + R and open: %APPDATA%\protector.exe
in it rename the folder labeled "mozilla" do something like "oldMozilla" and try to restart firefox. -
Received an update yesterday that disabled Norton before installing itself. Now cannot open Firefox. Get the error message.
This problem can occur if the update was not able to update all the files.
Do a clean install (re)-:
- Download a new copy of Firefox and save the file to the desktop.
- Firefox 3.6.x: http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/all-older.html
- Firefox 4.0: http://www.mozilla.com/firefox/all.html
- Uninstall your current version of Firefox and remove the Firefox program folder before installing this copy of the Firefox installer.
- Do not erase personal data if you uninstall the current version.
- It is important to remove the Firefox program folder to delete all the files and make sure that there is no problem with the files that were the remains after uninstallation.
Your bookmarks and other profile data is stored elsewhere (not in the Firefox program folder) and will not be affected by a relocation, but make sure that you do not select delete data of a personal nature if you uninstall Firefox.
