When I open Firefox pages don't load until I click on the tab.

I've just updated to Firefox 9.0.1 to 7.0.1 with an hour or two with 8.0.1. I'm usually anywhere from 8-20 tabs that exist from a previous session when you open the browser. I have an addon that allows me to 'faviconize' tabs, so I don't see anything but the favicons, which in the past was a good sign that the pages associated with the tab fully loaded.

Now when I start Firefox the favicons all the show and everything looks fine, but when I finally click on one of them pre-existing tabs on the page is empty, the favicon disappears and is replaced by the circle of rotation (if not faviconized I guess that the title of the page would be replaced by "connection...) "), and the content of the page loads for the first time. This is extremely annoying and a waste of time. I do a lot of high volume of navigation and having to wait for load pages that would have been loaded in the past already is a disadvantage. If I click through all of them will start to reload.

Yes, I have a lot of extensions, but all existed and cooperated well until this problem started. They are a topic: config or other parameters I can adjust to get this back to what I consider normal (that is, the page already loaded when I select the tab)?

Check the "don't load the tabs until you choose" option in Options > general > startup is disabled.

    Hi lennynyr,

Out of curiosity, what is the additional site? You should take a look at the Knowledge Base How to set the home pagearticle.

There are the steps in this article to reset your preferences on the default home page. I would try everything first to clear all strangeness. If it works, you can try to set your homepage again to your personal preferences.

If this does not work, you should look at article unsaved Preferences.

  • I did the update for Firefox 7 but when I open Firefox, it tells me that I must upgrade to the latest version which I have, how do I fix?

I keep my Firefox constantly updated, but in recent weeks Gmail has been telling me that I use an older version that she can't stand even though I have the updated version. I was warned that Firefox could be updated to the latest version, I did. After the update when I opened Firefox it told me that I needed to upgrade to the latest version that I had already done. How can I fix?

Having both versions is a possibility. The other is that the user agent is stuck to the old version of Firefox 3.5.3 due to some extension.

Check general.useragent preferences on the topic: config page.
You can open the topic: config page through the address (address) bar just like you open a Web site.

    Filter: general.useragent

If all general.useragent prefs are "BOLD" (user set) then right-click this pref and select reset.

We could probably due the FBSMTWB on the end of your useragent as the extension toolbar to Fast Browser Search added at some point and therefore the uptight version of Firefox. This problem has been resolved from Firefox 4.0.

  • Just updated to Firefox 29.01 it does not at all. When I opened it that won't load sites that shows just the busy circle floating around forever. It is unusable.

28 Firefox worked fine, but when asked a pop up opening firefox update to 29.01 I found there was a lot of security issues for 28 so I've manually updated to the 29.01 by going in "subject, check updates, etc." Once downloaded 29.01 and got told to restart, I restarted firefox. When I opened it, I found that it is unusable. It will not open a single Web site. It does not load my homepage. It has all my before Favorites from the Favorites toolbar, but I can't go to anything. I closed and tried to run cc cleaner as I always do, but I get the message "firefox takes too long to close would you like to force a shutdown", but the forced shutdown does not close it no more. I opened the Task Manager to try to close it from there, but firefox does not appear. I don't know what to do. I am all this typing chrome b/c I can't use the latest version of firefox. I've never had this happen before. I also ran in safe mode and it's the same thing. Please help and please answer in simple terms, because I'm not a computer expert. I took a few screenshots I'll join. In fact, I don't see anywhere to attach a picture so I can not. Also, I don't understand the green "add automatically" button which is located under this box on the support page of mozilla. Also, when I went to help, on the page in the upper corner of firefox just now to check the version it says "firefox is updated by another body." That the devil which means? Never seen it ever. Appreciate any help.

Well, then I can say happily that I'm typing this on firefox yay! I managed to do work, and here's how it is for everyone who is having this problem (well at least this is the solution that finally worked for me). RESTART your computer. NOT simply stop there. It does not work (not for me at least). I rebooted the computer initially there are a few min b/c my was not analysis Norton and I wanted to analyze the new 'new installation' I had to FF. After the computer has been restarted, my norton worked. So I said Hey, maybe I'll give you my FF update 29.0.1 a last try before you install a new firefox, in the hope that maybe restart the computer would have worked. So I opened it and omg he loaded my homepage. It works! In addition, among other first problems I've come across is impossible to bookmark a site. I found the solution. Just go to the upper menu right (it has 3 horizontal lines) and right-click the little star icon that we're used to that means bookmarks. A small menu will appear. Click on "move to the toolbar", and which should put it on the top right of your browser so that you can bookmark things. Hope the tip of restart helps anyone who was having the same problem I was Firefox being unusable! And if you have the bookmark problem, hope it helps you too. Wow. I am so happy that I can finally use FF now! Also, I kept the setting of "no hardware acceleration off the coast." Do not precisely know what that did, but leaving since that works. Oh, one last thing: I closed FF and ran cc cleaner and had NO problem with her telling me that FF would not close. Then restart the computer that solved this way. Yay!

  • I can't remove the listing from my windows 7 64 bit uninstaller list foxytunes - when I try Firefox doesn't close 100% until I have use the resource monitor.

FoxyTunes is long gone, but the list is not going to disappear. I used Safe Mode to remove the offending registry keys possible. I tried using the Microsoft tool for this, but do not '28 character code' for Foxy Tunes. I would like this list missing, especially due to the fact that to try to remove Firefox "misbehave." If it is too obsessive INYHO, please tell. Also you could provide the code for 28 character for Foxytunes, I could try the Microsoft tool.

Problem solved! At a Microsoft forum, a competent contributor recommended theRevo Uninstaller program. It worked perfectly. One caveat - it allows the user to remove registry keys. It must be checked in a box, so there will be no inadverdent mistake, but those who have not worked in the registry keys must be very careful

This might be a feature of an add-on. Could you check to see if you have any unknown Add-ons and disable (or remove). In particular:

Orange Firefox button or classic menu Tools > Modules > category: Extensions

Then restart Firefox and watch the toolbar, we hope that it does not appear.

You could also paste a list of your extensions here for review. You can copy from this page:

Implement: config and filter support.mozilla.com (if that's the page you mention actually) to see source. Also check that you have only a single home page in tools > general and that you bring to the top of the previous session, see https://support.mozilla.com/kb/How+to+set+the+home+page

  • When I open a page in firefox there is nothing on it just a black page with no address bar or whatever it is

When I open a page in firefox there is nothing on it just a black page with no address bar or whatever it is

Currently in version 33, Firefox has implemented a new faster way to loading Web pages. This new feature is called OMTC. However, there are still tweaks to the Mozilla developers make this.

There is a known issue that Mozilla works very hard to fix: If you have black pages on some sites, here's what you can do to avoid the problem in the meantime:

If Firefox is open, you can restart Firefox Safe mode in the Help menu:

    • Click the menu button

      click Help

then select restart with disabled modules.

If Firefox is not running, you can start Firefox in Mode safe mode as follows:

    • On Windows: Hold down the SHIFT key when you open the desktop Firefox or shortcut in the start menu.

When the Firefox Safe Mode window appears, select "start mode safe."

    To disable hardware acceleration

    • Click the menu button

      then select Options.

    • In the window of Firefox Options (or preferences), click on the Advanced tab, and then select general.
    • You will find in the list of parameters, the checkbox use hardware acceleration when available . Clear this check box.

Now, quit Firefox, wait a few seconds and start normally.

Please let us know if this solves the problem. Engineering is also collecting more information on the question would require that you fill out this survey

  • If I open a tab that has a vine file, Firefox crashes. I don't even have to click on the vine-just that it is part of tha page will crash Firefox

If I fall on a vine someone has posted to twitter, or go to a Web page where someone posted a vineyard, Firefox will crash. I don't even have to click on the 'play' button-Firefox will crash. How to use FF to block the vine to load even on my pc?

It's strange, it's hard to imagine a good reason for it.

I see you have Blocksite. Have you tried this model:

    http://*.vine.co

    Edit: You may also need:

    https://*.vine.co

When Firefox crashes, it generally records information about what was happening at that time. You can submit these data to Mozilla and share with the volunteers of the forum to see if it points to the solution. Please read the support article "Firefox blocks - troubleshoot to prevent and help in establishing accidents" (especially the last section) to get the how to get these IDs crash and then after the most recent here.

If you get the Mozilla Crash Reporter and rather get a Windows dialog box, maybe videos are somehow triggering an incompatibility with the driver for your graphics card. To work around the problem, you can try to disable the use of Firefox hardware acceleration of graphics.

the button Firefox orange (or the Tools menu) > Options > advanced

In the mini ' General' tab, uncheck the box for "use hardware acceleration when available.

Which comes into effect after you quit and then restart Firefox.

There are / were three problems:
    1. why, when I open Firefox 9.01 this I get a message that I don't have the most recent when version help > on Firefox said I do?
2 also, with version 8 of xx, I was unable to open a new window with a right-click, until I upgraded to 9.01. (Old problem now, but I'm curious).
3 when I tried to uninstall the old version of the uninstall program told me that I had to close the open version, but it was closed according to my taskbar. I also have this problem with Thunderbird.

    1. you are using the latest version which is Firefox version 9.0.1
