When I opened a second tab in Firefox, it won't go to my homepage. Instead, it goes to a page that shows what looks like a collection of pages (or links) that I visited in the recent past or distant. I rather go to my homepage, which is much more useful for me. I tried to change that in 'Options', but without success. Please fix this.
- Type of topic: config in the address bar and press ENTER.
- Press the big button to ignore the warning.
- In the search bar, paste browser.newtab.url
- In the search results, double-click browser.newtab.url and set its value to any desired URL. If you want the Firefox home page by default, you would set the value to Subject: Home

Where is the gear when I open a new tab in Firefox 42?
I try to have faces of color illustrated when I open a new tab in Firefox 42. The instructions say click on the gear wheel at the top right of the page to the new tab in order to activate the function of tiles. It is not a gear when I open a new tab.
What page is the new tab override set the new tab page?
If you want to use the subject: newtab page with the tiles and the gear, you don't need this extension.
The extension new tab replace is only necessary if you want a different home page, and such a page does not include this gear.See this article on the page tab (topic: newtab):

When I open a new tab in Firefox by default to Yahoo! search instead of Google search
Original title: Yahoo Blues
I am running XP Pro 2002 Service Pack 2. I use Firefox & google to search the Web. When I opened a new tab, it is default to Yahoo and it's driving me crazy. How can I get rid of Yahoo in total?

When I open a new tab, NO best sites don't show up... shows just a search engine box. I have Firefox 33.0. Why is there no 'pin' button when I opened a new page? How to make the top sites page appears when I open a new tab?
Here is some additional information on the configuration of the new tab page:
(1) in a new tab, type or paste Subject: config in the address bar and press ENTER. Click on the button promising to be careful.
(2) in the search above the list box, type or paste newtab and make a pause so that the list is filtered
(3) double-click the preference browser.newtab.url and enter your favorite page:
- (Default) page thumbnails = > subject: newtab
- Blank tab = > subject: empty
- Built-in Firefox homepage = > topic: welcome
- Any other page = > full URL of the page
Press Ctrl + t to open a new tab and check that it worked. Fixed?
Some traps:
If Firefox will not let you change this setting: you can have what is called SearchProtect on your system.
Firefox if allows you to save your changes, but he doesn't know: one of your extensions may be the substitution of her. You can consult, disable and/or remove extensions on the addons page:
"3-bar" menu button (or tools) > Add-ons > in the left column click on Extensions
If the modification works during your session, but during the next startup is leads to: you could have a user.js file in your personal settings Firefox (your Firefox profile folder). This article describes how to track down and delete the file: How to fix preferences that will not save.
A little luck?

When I click on the 'plus' for a new tab, which automatically takes me to google.com so beautiful, but the cursor is in the address bar. It seems that the cursor is in the google search box, but it's not.
When I click on "Home" the default cursor, the search field, which I think is correct. Is there a way to have FF does not by default the address for the input text bar when you open a new tab?
I doubt it. Google controls their research and their browser and they integrate features. But you can use "Ctrl + K" to place your cursor in the search bar"in your Firefox toolbars. By pressing the key TAB a little is a waste of time since there are a lot of links before you get to the entrance area.
There could be an extension, if it bothers some, but I don't see a valid compromise to justify the use of an extension of something that seems trivial to me.

When you open a new tab, why firefox suggests my recent history when I checked ever "broadcast history" on the settings?
If you have visited sites in no Private Browsing mode then there still may be the thumbnails of the pages in the cache.
Only pages that you visit in PB mode should not show on the subject: newtab page.Empty the cache must do the thumbnails disappear on refresh.

How can I do to change the site when I open a new tab.
Dear friends...
I can't find information, how to change the site when I opened a second tab. Example: when I open Firefox my google home page and it's perfect, but when I opened a second tab, appears why yahoo as homepage? I want to change it and I can not find how do. Thank youThe normal behavior is to open a blank tab, an add-on will be originally to show Yahoo. An add-on which has net gel assistant, if you have one you can uninstall it and it should go back to the opening of a blank tab.
There are modules that allow you to specify what should open in a new tab, such as:
- NewTabURL - https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/addon/newtaburl
- New tab Homepage - https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/addon/new-tab-homepage
Another way to open the home page in a new tab is in the Middle, click the home button in the navigation toolbar.

How can I get rid of the history that appears when I open a new tab?
When I open a new tab, I had a bunch of places I've been before. I don't want that. I don't need people to see where I've been by the images showing on the page. so, how can I get these gone?
Oh sorry, the link to locate the profile folder (designating the user.js file) is in the article profiles - where Firefox stores your bookmarks, passwords and other user data .

The foregoing. When I opened a new tab in the past, before the new update, firefox would automatically highlight the text in the address bar, and I couldn't just start typing here the address of the site that I wanted to. I could quickly get anywhere I want in less than a second. Now, I need to drag, and then click on in the bar every time to address. I installed an add-on called "custom newtab", but it slows down just me lower due to a lag between opening a new tab and the add-on kick and highlighting the contents of address bar.
What is happening is this:
Click "new tab".
New tab opens blank, and the text appears highlighted "google.co.uk" for about a quarter second.
Loading the Google page and highlight the text becomes not for another second quarter.
The module comes in and highlights the text "google.co.uk" Meanwhile I have already started typing and end up losing the first part of words, sending me random web pages and research. Why this change? Difficulty please!
Hi ChrisYeomans, a change has been noted in other threads on google.co.uk
The http URL now automatically redirects to https. Since you did not specify the Protocol in your newtab.url setting, Firefox attempts http and it is immediately redirected to the https domain. You should be able to see this happen unless your computer is much faster than mine.
Firefox does not handle this redirect elegantly - the URL in the address bar is not enabled unless you click a different tab, and then click back.
To work around the problem, update your newtab.url to the URL https://www.google.co.uk/ full

When I opened a new tab - or when I first open a browser - as soon as I go to a second page, I can't go back to the first. Thus, for example, I opened a new tab. I go to a news site. I click on a title. I can not then go back to the first page of the new site. If I go back to the first page manually (by typing the url, or by opening a bookmark) and then click on the same heading, I'll be able to go back.
The inability to return only ever happens on the second page opens in a new tab or window. At any time, I can go back as normal - but the first page I was on that tab / in this window is erased from history.
This isn't something that's happened only with FF4, either. I first noticed a couple of weeks, but I upgraded shortly after, assuming it was a bug that would set the new browser. But it's always like that. He still refuses to back the second page of the first.
This problem may be caused by an extension (McAfee SiteAdvisor) that is not working properly.
Start Firefox in Firefox to solve the issues in Safe Mode to check if one of the Add-ons is the cause of the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Tools > Modules > appearance/themes).
- Makes no changes on the start safe mode window.

When I opened a new tab, the cursor is automatically in the field of navigation, because I reinstalled Firefox yesterday. Is there a solution?
I solved.
I installed mutorrent, which in turn installed 'Safe Protect' of 'Intermediary' that messed up my Internet browser settings.
I uninstalled it and everything turned back to normal, when I opened a new tab, the cursor is automatically in the address bar (ie. it is highlighted).
Thanks for your time.

12 Firefox. When I opened a sixth tab the other five sparkle.
I've updated to 12 of Firefox on multiple machines running XP Pro or Windows 7 all completely fixed and updated.
I can run five tabs perfectly fine but when I opened a sixth tab the other five blink very quickly from left to right.
When I downgrade to Firefox 11 the problem disappears. I don't run any tab modules management. Any ideas please? There is a conflict between 12 of Firefox and the theme of compact Super 3.0.6. When the theme is disabled the problem disappears.
I can't judge if the problem is with compact or Firefox but thanks for pointers leading to a "solution". Only partial because I would like to use this theme with v12.

In the old version of Firefox, when I opened a new tab, firefox remember and displays previous tabs open when I click on the + to the new tab. This display last has shown several places I visited and I could automatically click it to bring up this last point of view. In this function, I could go to one of my last 6 views quite easily and make it appear one of them as a shortcut.
