  The updater think I am not up to date, but I am.  I chose a custom installation folder.  It is possible that the update is looking in the default location instead of the custom?  It is the first version of DC that I installed it.  I did not have this problem with earlier versions (up to perhaps Reader 6?).

  I disable 'Adobe Acrobat Update Service '.  This should make my problems go away, but someone at Adobe should know about it.  (It would be nice if the update verified if this service is disabled when the update and kept this option off).

  Thank you for your response.  CD player is unfortunately not for me.  After all these years, I'll be uninstall for another drive.  I hope that others will be helped by your response.

  The new interface is much too clumsy and there is no option to turn off automatic updates like virtually every other application.  I don't appreciate the processes that are running on my system without my permission.  Java and Flash (so far) same check for update on startup.  If I close these programs through the system tray, they don't get me excited again.  The new update just drive back even after clicking on his own accord 'close the updater.
