When you import photos into Lightroom 5 take disk space?

I store all my photos on the D drive on my PC, Lightroom 5 is installed on the C drive. When I import my pictures in my library using the Add option should they take place on the C drive and D drive? They appear to do, but I thought that they would not be using the Add option rather than move or copy. Can someone please advise?

Thank you very much

Stephen Cooper.

Where your LR catalog?  If it is on your C drive, additional space only on C should be for the information added to the catalog and previews, which must be low, unless you generate 1:1 previews, which can be larger and take more space.

or convert them to bitmap images? And this choice has an impact on the resolution, quality and functionality (i.e. what you can do with them) these images once on the stage? for example, I have a bunch of pictures that are high resolution black and white JPG and png, and I will be having move them around the scene, fade in/out, expand, grow, shrink, etc.. My internship is 1920 x 1080 and I will ultimately export to a film that allows to convert someone to a different file format and put on a company intranet site.

The second part of otherwise said, if a symbol, can I make an image or a video? The clip in a movie is a bit confusing to me, so I would avoid that for now, unless their a great motive to convert each image to a clip.

    Thank you!

Import your bitmaps from the library. In the library, you can select the images and look at their info (the little i in the Library palette button). Here, you can set if they are without loss or JPEG and you can adjust the quality, including the possibility to keep the quality imported. There is a smoothing option too, that most of the time do not want you to put work.

Now to use an image you would drag it to the stage. If you animate this bitmap, it will have become a symbol at this time here. If you later want to use a different bitmap, you previously driven, import the new image of the library, double-click the symbol that the old bitmap is in, select the old bitmap and in the properties panel, you will see a button Swap. Click to swap for your new bitmap.

You could let the FLA bitmaps for all alone in the library, and when you're done you might use the library menu to select unused items and remove them if you are unsure that you no longer need.

  • I use CF disks and Smart Media/xd 3 cameras when you import images into Lightroom. Get weird file extensions. Appreciate the advice.

At a recent wedding, I used 3 different cameras and 2 types of media cards. A type is a standard CF 2 GB and the other is a 2 GB Smart Media/xo.  They imported with file extensions such as 001 - 3.jpg, 002 - 4.jpg, some files are named correctly, 003, 006.  That this has something to do with the help of different cameras.  How prevent you getting the or - 1-2 after a number of digital file. I'm sure there's an easy answer and I do not have something good, but it drives me crazy.

There are already files with the name you are trying to write to the disk, so Lightroom trying to do the right thing to stop overwriting of files and adds a number to the file, so it has a different name.

Be more aware of your image sequence that import you will help prevent it.

  • When you import photos into LR4, import feature does not all photos in the folder

I have a catalog with all the imported pictures from a trip I just got back from.  But when I compare the catalog for real photos in the folder, there are 104 missing photos from the catalogue.  If I try to sync the catalog, it says 104 photos must be imported, but the import process said that there are no new photos.

I created a new catalog and tried to import the file again, but its lack still the same images of 104.

I don't know what to do here.  Help, please.

There are only three reasons that I see which files are not imported:

    1. the issue of Raw + Jpeg, you already have reduced.

2 not supported file types. So is there anything on these 104 images that are unusual in a perspective of file type? What kind of file, what device, what version of LR4 (4.0 or 4.1).

    3. already imported file. Seems more likely that you said that you "they remind of where everything what he. Have you tried to identify one of the 104 files and then find in Lightroom (use the text search option in the library filter bar).

  • To import Photos into Lightroom

I'm unable to import photos into lightroom on my Mac 5. It will be the first segment of unit import photos and the last bit, but leave out the middle section of photos. I thought it was because I changed the settings on my camera one day and those pictures of that day could not be imported, but it did just the same thing when I tried to import photos from my iPhone. It would incorporate pictures from October and December, but none since November. I tried to uncheck "do not import suspected duplicates", but which did not help either. I can import these pictures on my computer, but not in Lightroom. Lightroom is how I organize and classify all my photos, so it is a big problem for me. How can I fix?

This message indicates that you have not permission in writing to the destination directory.

    So:

    1. Determine the destination directory... go in the Lightroom import dialog box and note the location of this directory specified on the right side under "Destination".

  • Excluding subfolders when you import pictures into Photoshop Elements 10

In earlier versions of Photoshop Elements you could exclude subfolders when you import photos from files and folders.  In version 10 of the "get photos from subfolders" is grayed out.  I don't normally want to include subfolders during import.  I want only the top folder of the current page.  Why the change?

    Hello

    Just another thought.

I tried now versions 9 and 10 on a Windows 7 system and both work the same. The "include subfolder" box is not active until I select a folder on the right side - a selection on the side left is not activate it.

  • Importing photos into Lightroom CC

I always had problems trying to import my photos into Lightroom. I have read many articles on it and watched many tutorials, and none of them does not seem to work for me. I'm working on a Mac OS (El Capitan) and I use the Photos App on my computer. I take photos for a living, and I want some "records" of the Photos App to import into Lightroom so I can change, so I want to save them back in the 'File' or 'Album' from the Photos App. I'm frustrated that there is no means to achieve and that Lightroom is so different from Photoshop and other items.

If someone could help with this, I'd appreciate it greatly - thank you!

    Hi shelbys.

Well, you cannot migrate your images directly from App Photos in Lightroom as opening.

You export your App Photos images and save it somewhere on the machine, then Lightroom would be able to see your images and can add/import your images into the software so that you can edit them later.

In addition, you can refer to the same discussion: Re: How do I import photos into Photos of Yosemite Mac app LightroomCC?

  • Cannot import photos into Lightroom

I have a new macbook air. I downloaded pictures from a memory card to the laptop. They are there when I go to 'Photos' on my mac. However, when I try to import into Lightroom, nothing. Under my name, I have various applications folders, desktop, documents, pictures, etc.. But when I go in the photos, I can't find the pictures I want to import... I'm quite new to photos on mac and certainly new to Lightroom, but I'm confused as to how to include my photos under the "Source" option when I try to import into Lightroom. What I am doing wrong?

If you upload to 'Photos' on your Mac, they will not appear in Lightroom.  Photos from Apple and Adobe Lightroom do not play well together.  You must export the images of 'Photos' in a folder on your Mac before you can import into Lightroom.

  • When you import images into the latest version of Lightroom CC why all my images become black so there's nothing to see?

I tried to import by different methods.  I created an external file on my hard drive and put the RAW images in there and asked Lightroom to import from there.  I also simply asked Lightroom to import directly from the card to the camera.

In both cases, I see the images on my screen but then one by one, they are converted to an image blackened with nothing at all.

I tried to put pictures in development but that makes no difference, even using the adjustment sliders.

I tried to export images from Lightroom in Photoshop CC.  There, I have a very dark version of the image.  While I suppose I could change it, I have no idea what the image before hand that I simply export a black image.

This happened only since I've upgraded to the new version of Lightroom on CC.  Before that, I had no problem and went through the laborious effort of crating a new catalogue over 25,000 images... maybe it's a very small number of images in actual value, but for me it's a great thing.
