When you try to install update 2 released codes 687 and 643. How can I fix it?

I tried to install 2 updates of window.  Codes of 687 (Microsoft.NET Framework 4 Client Profile for Windows Vista X 64 (KB982670) Systens and 643 (Office Live add-in 1.5) appeared.  I tried to fix it, but it did not work.  What should I do now?

Try to download and install manually by download on your desktop and install them one by one. Insert the number of KB to get updates on the right and choose the one corresponding to your version of Vista: http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/en/default.aspx.

If this does not work, try a boot minimum http://support.microsoft.com/kb/929135.  If the problem goes away (you are able to install without error codes) then it's just a matter of tracking down the culprit at the origin of the problem.   Follow the procedures described in the article.  Once found, remove, delete, disable or uninstall.  Once remember to put Vista in normal status, as described in the procedures. If the problem occurs in clean mode then just restore the system to normal and reboot - this solution will not work.

Also read and execute the steps ofhttp://support.microsoft.com/kb/971058.

Read this article for error 643 (although it was not written for this specific update):http://support.microsoft.com/kb/923100.

I could find nothing on 687 unless error code means that there was an error in the use of writing. I could find nothing about this error because it applies to KB982670 although I found several articles on the KB installation problems, but they had error codes (mainly 8 digits starting with 0 or 800 x 800) and so I could not find one to recommend.  If you know an other error code, do a Bing search for the number, and then search for articles containing this error code to see if they could help you.

If they do not help, please repost your question in Forum Windows Update:http://social.answers.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/vistawu/threads , where updates experts will be happy to help you.  Please post with the information requested here:what to post in the Windows Update forum

I hope this helps.

Good luck!

You receive an error code "0 x 80070490" when you use Microsoft Update or Windows Update Web sites to install updates

Windows Vista, Windows Server 2008, Windows 7 and Windows Server 2008 R2 to solve this problem follow the steps in method 1. If method 1 does not resolve the problem, go to method 2. Method 1: run (Checksur.exe) system update readiness tool

    1. Download and run the system update readiness tool. This tool runs an ad hoc analysis of inconsistencies that might prevent future maintenance operations. For more information on how to download and run the Checksur.exe tool, click on the number below to view the article in the Microsoft Knowledge Base:

    2. Try to install updates again.

Note After you run the tool, the Checksur.log file is saved to the following location: %systemroot%\Logs\CBS

In a default installation of Windows, SystemRoot is the Windows directory.

If this method does not resolve the problem, go to method 2.

Method 2: repair a Windows installation if method 1 does not resolve this problem, you must perform a repair installation of Windows Vista, Windows Server 2008, Windows 7 or Windows Server 2008 R2. Run a repair installation will restore the current installation of Windows to the version of the installation DVD. It also requires the installation of all the updates that are not included on the installation DVD.

Note Run a repair installation will not damage files and applications that are currently installed on your computer.

To perform a repair installation of Windows Vista, Windows Server 2008, Windows 7 or Windows Server 2008 R2, follow these steps:

    1. Close all applications and restart the computer.
    2. Insert the Windows Vista, Windows Server 2008, Windows 7 or Windows Server 2008 R2 DVD into the DVD drive of the computer.
    3. In the settings window, click install now.

Step 4 : put the computer in Cleanboot before you install updates, if necessary:

To help resolve the error and other messages, you can start Windows Vista by using a minimal set of drivers and startup programs. This type of boot is known as a "clean boot". A clean boot helps eliminate software conflicts. This article describes how to solve problems in Windows Vista by performing a clean boot.

    1. click on Start , type msconfig in the search box and press ENTER .

    2. in the general tab, select ""NORMAL STARTUP " ." Click on apply, then OK. When you are prompted, click on restart.

You can from personal experience than BestBuy support (AKA Geek Squad) don't NOT download/run the Norton removal after you uninstall a Norton application and before you install a replacement App. There are chances that Trend Micro Internet Security (an unreliable product, at best) has not been installed correctly and that the computer never been protected since the first day.

You don't want to upgrade the computer to Win7 with the computer in its current state, unless you format the HARD drive and do a clean install.

NB: None of your customer's current data should be considered reliable. This includes all usernames and passwords (for example, online banking).

  • 80246008 error code when you try to install updates for windows 8

I have Windows 8 and I can't install updates. I discovered this when you try to upgrade to windows 8.1 and got a prompt to complete the installation of windows updates and then upgrade. I get the massage "windows update encountered a problem" and the code is 80246008. I tried a search to windows support but I have a solution for windows 7 or vista. I have 8 7 windows not and can not follow the instructions. I also tried the automatic Troubleshooter and managed to fix some errors, but not all, and updates can't be installed.

    Hello

If you receive the Windows Update 80246008 error when downloading updates, you might need to change the (BITS) Background Intelligent Transfer Service or the Windows event log service settings and restart each service.

Method 1: Unregister and re-register (BITS) Background Intelligent Transfer Service.

    a. press Windows + R key and type of BIT /Unregister. and then click OK.
    b. press Windows key + R, type BITS/REGSERVER, and then click OK. After you run this command, the operation is complete.
    c. check to see if it helps.

Method 2: I suggest you run the DISM tool and check if it helps.
    1. open an elevated command prompt. To do this, enter in the right edge of the screen, and then click Search. Or, if you use a mouse, point to the corner bottom right of the screen, then click on Search. Type the command prompt in the Start Search box, right-click guest, and then click run as administrator. If you are prompted for an administrator password or a confirmation, type the password, or click allow.

2 type the following commands. Press enter after each command.

    Note
may take several minutes for each operation in order to fill.

    · DISM.exe / Online/Cleanup-image /Scanhealth

    · DISM.exe / Online/Cleanup-image /Restorehealth

    3. close the command prompt, and then run Windows Update again.
DISM creates a log (% windir%/Logs/CBS/CBS.log) file that captures any issues that the tool found or fixed. %windir%\System32 is the folder in which Windows is installed. For example, the %windir%\System32 folder is C:\Windows.

I hope this helps. Let us know if you have other problems with Windows in the future.
