  I use Windows Vista Home Premium (SP2) (64-bit).  Two days back, I've updated my windows.  After restarting the PC, all program files and shortcuts in Start menu disappeared.  The shortcuts that I myself had added manually do not work.

  Have you tried to do the restore of the system in SafeMode as stated in my answer 1 to you?

  If you do not want to repost in the Windows Update Forum (they are the specialists it for the best advice regarding your problem), make this disc Bootable startup repair and use it to do a system restore or uninstall the updates by using the method 2nd in my 1st reply:

  Download the ISO on the link provided and make a record of repair time it starts.

  Go to your Bios/Setup, or the Boot Menu at startup and change the Boot order to make the DVD/CD drive 1st in the boot order, then reboot with the disk in the drive.

  At the startup/power on you should see at the bottom of the screen either F2 or DELETE, go to Setup/Bios or F12 for the Boot Menu.

  When you have changed that, insert the Bootable disk you did in the drive and reboot.

• All the icons and shortcuts are gone from my computer screen.

  I down loaded a wiget google today and subsequently, I have experienced this problem. All my programs and all shortcuts are availble by Explorer and open the folder deshtop. They work very well, but the computer screen does not display them. When I opened the they seem normal, so it doesn't seem to be a problem with the monitor. When I try to drag or send to, or save, I get a message that says that they cannot be sent to their current location. The computer knows that they are in the file offers / office but don't show them on the screen. I have add / remove programs but no change. I sent a file that was in a different place and it went in the desktop folder but not on the screen. It's like there's a toggle to see the show/don ' t somewhere. There is no corruption in the programs or files. Thank you for any advise you can give.

  What is the easy way with DW to download files of a Web site for later use.  I'll copy and save all these files, so I don't have to do this again.

  1. define your site in DW.  DO NOT EVER USE DW WITHOUT FIRST DEFINING a SITE (at least the local part of the site).  Make sure that you are entering the local information (really just where is the local root folder of the site and the name of the site) and distance information (the location of the remote site and FTP connection information).

  2. after the site is defined, you can now CONNECT to the remote site by clicking on the icon to connect to the files Panel.

  3. Select the name of the folder in the foreground on the REMOTE side of the list of files and RECOVER the files by clicking on the arrow in the files Panel toolbar.

  It is simple and easy.  You have now all that has been at the remote site nicely nestled in your folder local root.

What I was doing before I received your reply has restored my computer to a point in September that was shortly after the clean install of Windows 7 Professional. At that time there Firefox 15.0.1 and IE9 worked very well. After doing the system restore when I accessed Firefox is working without any problems. Then I updated my graphics card HIS Radeon HD4650 AGP for the latest drivers and "when everything goes haywire. It seems that there is a problem between the HIS Radeon HD4650 card latest drivers video AGP Via Technologies VIA P4PB400-FL that is as I mentioned earlier, and old product that has no hardware acceleration. I said that there is a problem with the motherboard Via because the machine that I use to write the question has an ASUS motherboard with the same video card AGP and latest drivers and I don't have any problems with Firefox browsers in particular.
