Where is my info form is submitted to the?

It's probably something simple, but I can't understand how to have the results of my form of contact by email to me. I would like to just all submissions by email directly to me. I don't want to have to connect to BC to see. I have CRM so I know they are all transformed in case that I see in my area of BC but how I sent them automatically to me. How to set the e-mail address to which they should go? Thanks for your help.

Josh

Hey Josh, what hosting plan are you on? If you are on the more simple plan as a plan of webBasics, you can simply update e-mail Notification settings on the form in question. Goto the Admin area and goto Site Manager > Webforms find the shape you want sent to yourself and click on it. On the Edit screen form, click the button for the e-mail Notification and you should be able to add your e-mail address it and you'll get notifications of sending the form. Also, you should be able to answer the e-mail notification you receive.

If you are on a plan that supports workflows, generally must be goto of the form and see what workflow, it is configured to use. See as the workflow and goto settings > Workflows and make sure one of the steps in the workflow sends a notification to you.

• How create a visible counter that reflects the number of times a form is submitted?

I have a form that I want to count the number of submitions and I want so that it can be displayed in my Web page. Any ideas?

You don't need a database if you want to only count the number of times that a request has been sent.

What you need is a text file called counter.dat or similar and place the code in the form Manager to open the file and place a new value in the file.

If you have PHP code will look like

$cf = "counter.dat";
$fp = fopen($cf,"r");
$ct = trim(fread($fp,filesize($cf)));
if ($ct != "") $ct++;
else $ct = 1;
@fclose($fp);
$fp = fopen($cf,"w");
@fputs($fp,$ct);
@fclose($fp);

• Put a unique number on each form is submitted

My Department is new to Live Cycle Designer. We created a PDF using LCD ES form that is used to approve the purchase of certain types of equipment. I was prompted to change to include a unique identification number, and I need advice on where to start.

The user goes on the web opens the PDF homologation form, fills out and clicks a button to send (on the form) that fits over the filled PDF an email that is sent to our office. Once the form comes to us, it must be distributed to the other 4 or 5 oversight offices, and we want to identify each shape with a unique number, so we can monitor his progress.

So what I was asked to do is to find a way to put a unique number generated automatically on the form at one point before it is emailed to us. The number may have a number any numbers or characters (for as long as it is readable by humans) and does not need to be sequential. I think a 5 or 6 digit would be good.

I thought that the right approach would be to create a small Access database to generate/store identification numbers and then get the form of capture/read a new number every time that you click the submit button. While I can connect to my database of test very well, what I do understand not how to execute SQL of LCD, or how to do it after the events, as when the form is opened or when the user clicks the submit button. I didn't see any chance of finding similar good one so far.

Is this the right way to go, or is there a better way to do it in LCD?

Thanks for your time,

-Max

I created an example showing the various options that are available. Note that if you connect an external source such as a database and your users use player then you have to drive to extend the form using LiveCycle to allow this.

The file that I was talking about is attached. If you need the process and controls for the DB I mention just ask and I'll post those as well. You will need LiveCycle server for this part.

• 11 Acrobat & FormsCentral keeps info & forms only on my computer or what a cloud Server

I am considering upgrading to Acrobat XI due to the characteristics of Central forms, but I don't want my forms and information they collect on a server cloud for reasons that are not negotiable. I want to use the forms and responses on a local computer and be able t ouse forms by other means. I guess I can just create my own forms, but the answers are useless to me, if they are on a different server.

(1) can I save on my hard drive form templates? (my first experience with the Central Office of app forms suggests that they may not be saved on my hard drive.)

(2) if the Foundation SHOULD be sent to a FormsCentral server, download the details of my HD?

(3) delete the responses from the server FormsCentral?

The main thing FormsCentral gives you is a reliable and safe way to collect form data, without any programming on your part required. The shape can be a web form created with the designer of FormsCentral, a PDF file generated from a form created with the designer of FormsCentral or a PDF form created with Acrobat.

If you want to use a PDF form which submit to the FormsCentral service, you have that option. Users may use e-mail or other means for you will be given a completed form.

If you choose to implement the form to submit to the FormsCentral service, you can download the data of the form on your computer and delete all data on the server.

There are a number of other features available with FormsCentral, even if some are not available with PDF Forms.

• The file name is changed when the form is submitted

I have a form which, when completed and returned, prompted me to add the form of an answer file. The form has been returned with a button 'Send', and the URL has been defined "mailto:[email protected].» I changed the button to use Javascript (so I could shoot a field information and put it in the subject line). Now, when I receive a form, the name of the attachment is different from the name of the original file.

File name: NURF_distributed.pdf

Name of the attached file: NURF_distributed.pdf - Adobe Acrobat Pro.pdf

My question is, how do I get the name of the file attached to the original file name?

Thanks for any help!

Amber

It is correct.

The appentix of viewers in the name of the PDF file name is because the form was "dirty" when the mailTo action has been executed.

Dirty means, changes made to the form when not registered.

When you save the form before the action, attachment wll have its original name.

Or add this script to your form and run in front of the mailTo action.

Event.Target.Dirty = false;

• Want to write the results to submit the login form to log on the server

I cooked up a little family site to share memories and old photos. This is a members only site and I use a PHP login script that compares the user name and password to a list.

I would like to know
(a) if someone tries to guess their way in.
(b) If a member is having connection problems... We have a few not so computer savvy family members which eventually get frustrated and give up.
(c) whose members are logging... It is a new effort, to run one year on a trial basis... and it is worth.

To do this, I add code to take the results of any shipment (on my login form) and to add the results of this to some sort of log file that I can periodically review. Because the foundations are in place this (I think) not an otherwise difficult task. But I have no idea on how to do this and hope someone can show me.

Thank you for your time and help

Ralph

If it helps, it's the PHP code that I guess deals with the connection.

/ Repairable none by the user under this item. */

$php_self = $_SERVER ['PHP_SELF'];

/ * Clean up variables: we only do $user and $password of the form. */
$submit = $_POST ['submit'];
$user = ";
$password = ";
If ($_GET ['user']) {}
$user = $_GET ['user'];
$password = $_GET ["password"];
}
If ($_POST ['user']) {}
$user = $_POST ['user'];
$password = $_POST ["password"];
}

session_start();

/ * Check the couple login/password until you find the one that is correct, or re-display the login form. */
$loginsuccessful = FALSE;

{foreach ($authorization as $loginpair)}
{If (($user == $loginpair[0]) & & ($password == {$loginpair [1]}))}
$_SESSION ['user'] = $user;
$_SESSION ["password"] = $password;
$loginsuccessful = TRUE;
}
{If (($_SESSION ['user'] == $loginpair[0]) & & ($_SESSION ['password'] == {$loginpair [1]}))}
$loginsuccessful = TRUE;
}
}

If ($loginsuccessful = TRUE) {}
/ * The user is connected, go on our merry way. */
echo $loginmsg;
} else {}
/ * User does not match our valid connection, their decline to the form. */
$loginmsg = "invalid username or password";
require ($indexphp);
"exit";
}

No, it's not particularly difficult. Of course, you use a login script you obtained, because the code is very different from the one generated by Dreamweaver. Judging from the code, you do not use a database to store the usernames and passwords. Thus, you probably want to save the details of an external text file.

Add the following code where indicated:

if ($_POST['user']) {
$user = $_POST['user'];
$password = $_POST['password'];
}

// New code goes here

$logfile = 'log.txt';
$date = date('j M Y H:i:s');
$address = 'Unknown';
if (isset($_SERVER['REMOTE_ADDR'])) {
$address = $_SERVER['REMOTE_ADDR'];
}
if ($file = fopen($logfile, 'a')) {
fwrite($file, "\r\n$date $address $user $password");
fclose($file);
}

// end of new code

session_start();

This will create a text file named log.txt in the same folder as the logon script. Since it is a text file, it should ideally be outside the root of the web server, then you must change the value of $logfile to point to a file outside of the root of the server, but in a folder where the script is allowed to write.

Whenever someone tries to connect, it will record the date and time, IP address, if known, and the user name and password submitted.

Once you got this job, I suggest you change the following line:

if ($file = fopen($logfile, 'a')) {

Change to this:

if ($file = @fopen($logfile, 'a')) {

This will remove any error message if the script is unable to open the log file. However, you should not do that change until you have things market, because deleting an error will prevent you to discover what the problem is if this does not work.

My form submit button is not attached or send anything. For the moment, I have it set as

action = mailto...

FormMethod = "POST".

Formenctype = ' text/plain '.

Test e-mail opens up to the correct email address but he has nothing attached or in content.

I have to add something to every form field to make sure it is posted? I have all the form put in place in the post. Why didn't that crosses?

Mailto links don't work that way. All they do is open the user (Outlook or Windows Mail) email client. And if no e-mail client is available, which is very common, since most people use the web based email on Gmail or Yahoo - absolutely nothing will happen when the form is submitted.

If you want a reliable contact form that accepts attachments, you must use a form processing script on the server side. Preferably, one that is sure, spam-resistant and hides your email address of robot pickers. Your script should limit the type and the size of the attached files, too. You don't want people sending you malware or other junk that could harm your system.

Contact your webhost and ask them if they have a script form to secure e-mail, which you can use. If they do not know which server-side programming languages you can use on your hosting plan (php, aspx, perl, etc...). This will reduce your search for an appropriate script.
