  Try the following. Go to the Device Manager and find the Dell gigabitethernet device and do a right click. It should allow you to fix by updating the driver. Instead of automatic search, choose search in your hard drive. I chose my C drive, and he finds the driver original and installed automatically.

  Once this is done, you will notice that the "!" icon on the device has disappeared.

  You can install the drivers in Windows 7 in Windows 8 by using compatibility mode. Follow the steps.

  (a) access to the start screen

  (b) press Windows key + C on your keyboard to show the charms (if you have a touch screen: touch the right edge of your screen and slide your finger to the center of the screen to display the bar of charms)

  (c) search for Troubleshooting, click settings in the right-hand column.

  (d) click on troubleshooting. Click run programs made for previous versions of Windows

  (e) click on Next, select not listed. Click Next

  (f) click Browse and select the installation program that you downloaded via the link above.

  (g) click on Next, click program troubleshooting

  (h) check the program worked in earlier versions of Windows but won't install or run now

  (i) click next , select the latest OS known functional for this driver (probably Windows 7)

  (j) click Next
