To order the recovery media, click on the link below. Select W8.1 operating system from the menu drop down.

Original title: I'm out of memory on my hard drive but I have minimum programs, photo and music on it. What else can I remove it?
It seems that a lot of programs listed under Add/Remove are installations of service packs or updates. I already deleted all files and unwanted programs, ran defragmentd and my drive disk cleanup. What should I do to find a free space?
Space and memory are two different things.

So I decided that I need a bigger hard drive. I got a 500 GB hard drive, so I have it PLOPPED in my Acer Aspire 5517 with my vista boot drive, turned on and began to go through the process. Once he got to the phase 'installation complete' it seems to take a while, so I let it run all night. Once I got up, it was on a black screen with the mouse, I let stand a few more minutes but still nothing. I turned off and started it expects to find to return at the beginning of the installation, but instead he began to start from what is on the hard drive at this time. It got to the screen with the loading bar and the sign 'Microsoft Corporation'. The loading bar was very frigidity and stopped and started randomly. I let it do this while I went to school, but when I got home, it was always the same loading screen. I rebooted and tried to start in safe mode, but when I do it it stops at crcdisk.sys, and never forwarded charges. I tried to do the reset thing factory start it but that doesn't seem to work. My other puny hard drive still works, but the other does not. I searched the internet but have not seen any other problem like it. I want to just start completely clean of my new 500 GB. Please help!
Hi James,
1. What is the number of brand and model of the hard disk of 500 GB?
2. How did the 500 GB hard drive connected to the computer? It is external or internal?
To troubleshoot the unable to start the issue to cause corrupted driver, some files that can not be loaded during the startup process must be fixed or restored. So, let's check the disk by using the Windows Recovery Console.
(a) put the Windows Vista installation disc in the disc drive, and then start the computer.
(b) press a key when the message "Press any key to boot from CD or DVD ".
(c) select a language, a time, a currency and a keyboard or another input method, and then click Next.
(d) click on repair your computer.
(e) (click on the operating system you want to repair), and then click Next.
(f) in the System Recovery Options dialog box, click command prompt. Type chkdsk c:/f to try to correct the errors.
(g) Note: answer them when chkdsk asks you if you want to check the disk next boot Vista
(h) after the recording of the disc, and then run sfc/scannow to check the corruption of system files.
Important: when running chkdsk on the drive hard if bad sectors are found on the disk hard when chkdsk attempts to repair this area if all available on which data may be lost.
Check out TechNet help links and check if that helps:
The computer starts stops at crcdisk.sys
Help! Vista won't start... (crcdisk.sys)
Let us know the status of the issue. If you need help, please after return. We will be happy to help you.

Failed hard drive. I have to buy Windows?
I'm in a bit of a pickle. My hard drive failed this weekend, the computer is 7 years old so I understand that it probably lasted as long I don't want to get out. Unfortunately, I wasn't able to save anything before the accident, and now the operating system does not even start. So my question is when I replace my hard drive that I buy a copy of Windows? I contacted my manufacturer already and site does not show for me to order recovery disks, and there is a note that they don't serve even more my model. Thanks in advance.
Technically, you don't have to buy a copy of Windows.
You can reinstall Windows using the product key on the COA sticker attached to your computer.
There are, however, some sticking points:
- On an old computer, the COA may have worn to the point where it is unreadable. It is often the case on laptop computers if the sticker is at the bottom, rather than inside the battery compartment.
- You have to find a Windows CD/DVD installation, which is the same indicated on the COA sticker, for example, Windows edition Windows 7 Edition Home Premium; Windows 7 Professional, etc.).
And of course you should be able to install Windows, all data files and programs installed on your computer before the crash will be always lost.

Hello
I have an old XP Home Edition computer. PC needs new hard drive. Is it legitimate to reinstall an original copy of XP under single-user license?
Any help would be appreciated.
original title: license XP helpThis is great thanks for Jean, didn't know if my activation key would work again, but you say it would be?
Yes, it will work again, as long as you don't change all sorts of other things in the computer.

Resettlement without disks
Hello. I have a computer bought from a friend with windows vista home premium installed. I want to format my hard drive to start over but I do not have the windows installation disc. How can I reinstall the pack without the disks after I cleaned the system? Thank you, KimHello. I have a computer bought from a friend with windows vista home premium installed. I want to format my hard drive to start over but I do not have the windows installation disc. How can I reinstall the pack without the disks after I cleaned the system? Thank you, Kim
You have a hard drive partition to do - but you would need to contact/see the FAQ from the hardware manufacturer (HP, Dell, Gateway, Lenovo, etc) to see if and how.
Otherwise - you might have to order (pay for possibly) the factory restore/recovery of the value of the manufacturer.
If it was built * friend *, you will communicate with them. Ask your media.

I cut and pasted and then a few important files from my laptop on an external hard drive. Since the external hard drive stopped working. Is it possible to find the files that have been moved?
Thank you!
(More info: I tried to recover the files from external hard disk but it requires a physical recovery and would cost over $ 1000, which I did not; also unfortunately I don't think I created backup via the "backup and Restore Center" files in the control panel).
It depends on how long you have moved the files, and how the computer has been used since.
If you have Vista Business, Ultimate or enterprise, you can use the previous versions.
Try these programs:
- Free: http://www.filehippo.com/download_recuva/
- $99, but the free trial version to see if it works before paying: http://services.seagate.com/eStore/Seagate-File-Recovery-for-Windows-P32C1.aspx

I plan to buy an Apple 80 GB hard disk 3.5 SATA for my Compaq CQ62, the hard drive that I have for you is a "WD 500 GB 2.5 SATA II.
Ports appear as it will keep and everything, but I'm curious to know, if I get this drive, I'll be able to install my Macintosh on that hard drive and use it on my laptop Compaq CQ62 or not?If this isn't the case, then I'll be able to install Windows 7 or uBuntu on this hard drive? The hard drive will fit even on my laptop? Thank you!Why you want to replace a 500 GB with a 80 GB drive it?
Macintosh is not an operating system
A 80 GB drive is too small for a win7 PC
