  • Can I create a personal task bar that works like the quick launch area

Windows 7 has just been put on my computer. I had Windows XP before and I loved the quick launch task bar. With this bullcrap "Pin to Taskbar" if I nailed everything I had in the quick launch area I wouldn't have room for anything else on the taskbar. Is it possible to create my own taskbar to bring all these links in? Or we can suggest to Microsoft that they give back one of the best things about XP instead of this "pine to." I couldn't find anywhere to give feedback to Microsoft.

See if the information at these links are easier. It should be a wink to do.

I have Windows XP Home SP3 on my laptop and my Quicklaunch box shows 4 icons.  I would like to expand this option to display 5.  Can someone tell me how to proceed?

    Hello

Right-click on an empty part of the taskbar, and then click to unlock.

You will then see the vertical lines delimiting the edges some toolbars are defined. Youy can then drag these vertical lines to resize the toolbars.

Right click and lock again to prevent accidental changes.

  • How to add buttons to the Quick Launch toolbar

I can't find the buttons for the "switch between windows" Flip 3D previews and the 'show desk top' on the Quick Launch toolbar.  They used to be there.  Where can I find them so I can put them on the quick launch area?  I have Vista Home Premium.

    Try this:

    1. click on start
    2. in the search field, type the following (you can copy and paste for accuracy):

    %SystemDrive%\Users\Default\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Quick Launch

    3. Windows Explorer should open the phonebook.
    4. you should now see the missing shortcuts in the left pane.
    5. left click shortcuts and drag them one at a time to the Quick Launch bar. If you want to reposition shortcuts, just left click and drag them to the position.

  • Respond to create/customize a toolbar in Windows 7 (replaces the quick launch for Windows XP)

After several hours, with many MS research and research on google to try to get the famous and beautiful Quick Launch Toolbar that no longer exists in Windows 7, I thought it after 3 hours.  Here's how:

    Create a toolbar

    -----------------------

    1. create a folder on your system

    2. right click on the taskbar, select toolbar, select the new toolbar

    3. new toolbar - select displays a file dialog box

    4. Select the folder created in step 1-based

    Customize the toolbar

    -------------------------------

    1. right click on the taskbar

    2. click on bar tasks unlock

    3. right click on the new toolbar

    4. menu popup appears

    5. click on title of show (allows the user to hide the name of the toolbar, which is of the Deb Toolbar)

    6. right click again on new toolbar

    7. click on the text (allows to hide the name of the icon, IE.) Microsoft Office Word 2007)

    8. right-click again on new toolbar

    9. click on view (allows the user to change the size of the icons on the toolbar)

    10 lock the toolbar

When I spent many hours and kept getting the Quick Launch bar does not exist in this version, it is true; HOWEVER, you can get everything too close with a custom toolbar.  No answer came close to telling how to customize a toolbar, but only how to create a toolbar.  Originally, I had posted a question, but then found an answer and thought that after having no chance he is on this site that I post the answer.

So I hope this helps anyone who has upgraded to Windows 7 missing and are looking for this bar Quick Launch bar.  This is the closest you're going to get.

No more frustrated.  NOTE TO MICROSOFT: The search engine provided by MS, you stick with your terminology.  I can't tell you how many times I reformulated my search with your terminolog and kept getting "taskbar" vs "toolbar."  The most I could get it is how to create a toolbar, and that's all.  Then you wonder why users get frustrated and I want to just throw it out the window (no pun intended - perhaps although YES).

  • Cannot resize the Quick Launch toolbar.

I searched for an answer to my problem all morning and everybody repeat how the new quick launch taskbar is too restrictive and it only lets you see three icons at the same time. Well, I have the opposite problem. Every, single icon than me or my wife adds to the Quick Launch toolbar is always visible and I don't have any of the sizing handles on it to allow me to resize it. I unlocked the taskbar and everything. It is really annoying because I want my important shortcuts in the quick launch, but I also want to be able to actually USE my taskbar. If I continue to put icons on the quick launch, it will extend to all the way to my system tray and those who don't adapt are simply not available. Can someone help me?

Yes, because Windows 7 uses more a Quick Launch toolbar, so no "resize handles' I thought you may be interested in other options of the task bar to help keep the taskbar clear of both directions
(right side now known as Notification area).
May not be the answer you are looking for, but it's one of a number of "it's not broken, but we
will remedy "monopoly issues $ oft unleashed in Win7"
(one other 'Favorites' - taking away the option to disable the auto organize into folders).

The only other option is the "always on"the cartel", etc. in the properties of the taskbar, but it combines only
    reduced apps / browsers.

Hmm - speaking of "resize handles.  I just noticed that when the desktop is enabled (unlocked taskbar)
the "sizing handles" reappear, but unfortunately work the wrong way autour if you want a clear
Taskbar to display minimized applications or browsers.
You can pull the handle from right to left and push apps/browsers minimized in the "quick launch" area on a up/down selection arrow. Not very practical is that?
Good for those who want to keep their desktop icons displayed on the task bar, I guess?

  • How display the Quick Launch toolbar while right-clicking is prohibited and control panel is also forbidden?

I have a user limited access to work where the right-click and access more common is forbidden by the administrator of the computer. Can I show the Quick Launch toolbar without using the right click on the bar of tasks and without the help of the control panel.

At the same time, the shortcut for show desktop is also prohibited (windows logo + D)

    Hello

After some reflections more and a little research, you can try this...

    • Click Start
    • Click on run
    • Paste it into the Open box: %SystemRoot%\System32\rundll32.exe shell32.dll, Options_RunDLL 1
    • Click OK
    • This should run the bar spots and the properties of the Start Menu
    • Check the box "Show Quick Launch.
    • Click OK

However, you may find that you are locked out of the race and taskbar and properties of the Menu start too!

If you can start the task (ctrl-alt-del) Manager, you can try the same thing in the drop-file for the new task. Or even try the same from a command prompt (start - all programs-accessories).

  • Show Desktop icon is missing from the Quick Launch bar

    Original title: Windows Search

I have Windows XP, home edition, SP3, IE8, and I lost one of my desktop icons that I use frequently. This is the icon that is always in the taskbar, as well as a few others. The icon is what opens on the desktop whenever you click on it. It is a white square that looks like a block of office paper, with a figure of what looks like a pencil or pen appearing thereon.  Somehow, somehow, it was deleted, and I can't find where to get it back. I have been in the control panel on 'VIEW' and no luck, only we in the menu of the taskbar and start and he can find, checked a large number of menus that contain the word "Desktop" in it and I clicked on a large number of them also without a bit of luck too. Once more, he is a white icon and is still in the taskbar at the bottom of the screen of the monitor. Someone knows must return this icon... any help would be appreciated.

  • Size of the icons in the Quick Launch bar

The icons in the Quick Launch bar are usually about half the size of the icons on the desktop. Mine are now the same size, which is awfully big for the Quick Launch bar. Having the taskbar at the bottom of my screen, it takes at least two lines to display the icons.

What I found the same icons are used, but it seems that there must be a way to set the size of the icons shown.

How can I resize them to their normal size? So far, I found nothing on this topic, any ideas here?

    TIA,

    Margriet

First of all, it must unlock the taskbar, if it is locked. Now on the first line in front of the icons, right-click when the arrow on the side shows. At the sight of quality performances. Switch to the kid. If it is already on small, for some reason any. Put it in wide and apply, then back to small to see if it returns it. [_1337_Pete_]

Looks like your Windows file associations have to dispose. This means that XP doesn't know what to do with files by looking at the file extension (.exe for executables)., .doc for MS documents, etc.

If you don't have it you, something done for you - most likely malware.

Go to this site WWW by Doug Knox:

    http://www.dougknox.com/

On the left, click on the Win XP fixes, file Association fixed and read the instructions at the top of the page.

Download the EXE File Association Fix on your desktop, unzip the file and apply it by following the instructions at the top of the page, then to restart and test.

Run the following scans for malware, and then fix any problems:

Download, install, update and do a full scan with these free malware detection programs:

    Malwarebytes (MMFA): http://malwarebytes.org/
    SUPERAntiSpyware: (SAS): http://www.superantispyware.com/

They can be uninstalled later if you wish.

The problem with a registry cleaner is that it carries with it

  • Do not click on & dray of desktop icons to the quick launch with Windows Vista.

Evening... Maybe someone can help me with the problem, I'm going to not be able to click & drag one of my desktop for the quick launch icons.  It's on my husbands laptop (mine is fine), so I don't know how long it lasts.  Any suggestion would be appreciated.  Thank you and have a great rest of the weekend.

  • lost the "switch between windows" button on the Quick Launch toolbar

Hi, I lost the "switch between windows" button of the toolbar quick launch, how can I restore it?

    • You have problems with programs
    • Error messages
    • Recent changes to your computer
    • What you have already tried to solve the problem

    Dasepo salvation,

Here are the instructions for the program shortcut "switch between windows" returned the fell on the Quick Launch toolbar:

First of all, make sure you that you must show hidden files and folders active. Here's how:

Go to: Start/Control Panel folder Options/configuration and select the 'view' tab select "Show hidden folders and files under the section files and folders hidden from advanced settings".

Then you can get the file from quicklaunch default section. This location of file is here:

    C:\Users\Default\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Quick Launch

You can paste this link into the search bar (Ctrl-Esc). When you get to this place, you will find the 'switch between client.lnk' which you can then drag directly to the Windows Orb and it going bust in the Quick Launch bar.

    Hope this helps,
